What a weekend!! I’m up waaaay too late, but don’t care. We’ve filled every single minute with productivity: class time, public speaking coaching, sharing wisdom between teen classes, leadership opportunities, selfless service, heart to heart conversations, games, and curriculum planning for our teens’ last year in NLC! I’m continually impressed with our teens each year in their growth and maturity—and this weekend was no exception. And while this program is supposed to be about teaching them how to be good leaders and how to serve others, I feel like I’ve somehow cheated the system because I’m learning so much from them and from my fellow class leaders ALL.the.time. I've said before the homeless are the most generous people I know. Yesterday one of our regulars came to Network, upset because he hasn't gotten to tithe yet. He pulled out the little money he had and gave some of it to Network, to be used to help others. In a space where he is the one being given to, in a moment where he could easily have "gotten away with" not giving because he had so little...he took what little he had and gave it to those with even less. Sounds like a Bible story we like to tell but often don't practice. If you don't see Jesus very often, find yourself wondering what He looks like, you maybe haven't spent enough time with the poor.
