Confrontation at Spear Pillar
The house that the legacy family was living in felt little tiny for their generational wealth, so I build this modern lakeside villa for them instead.
My entries for the Pokemon trading card game art contest for 2024. I didn't get into the top 300. Oh well, maybe next time...

flutters ^-^ she was my sketch for a 3-way collab that didn't pan out
I love seeing those posts that are like “Ugh you guys completely don’t understand how cutiemarks work” …. But it’s from the perspective of someone who’s only seen g4/g5 XD XD
Because in a broader context, there was no lore explanation given for why ponies had certain cutiemarks before g4. In fact, in g1 ponies were born with their marks (There are baby newborns with marks… It does imply that some ponies born with baby themed marks will grow up to be adult ponies with baby rattles or bibs for their marks XD) and more generally the marks are just symbolic of the pony’s theme/personality (Though there was actually less of an emphasis on personality since most ponies weren’t in any shows or anything, just meant to be cool toys)
Even FROM a g4/g5 perspective, I think people are wayyyy too rigid with the “Your cutiemark is exclusively based on your special talent” because… Some cutiemarks can be symbollic and less literal (Take G4 Applejack: You might think “oh her talent is working with apples on her farm” but it’s actually supposed to be more symbolic of her connection to her family). I also believe it doesn’t have to be exclusively about “your special talent” because most ponies are more dimensional than just having 1 thing they’re good at. Your cutiemark could represent something important to you that ISN’T strictly a talent. It could represent something about your personality or your interests.
So I am giving you, g4/g5 fan, permission to give your pony ocs and sonas cutiemarks that aren’t strictly “This is my special talent”. You are allowed to give them more symbolic marks, Maybe something that is just representative of their story even if it wouldn’t make sense as a talent. Give that walter white pony blue crystal cutiemarks you don’t have to listen to that one post saying he wouldn’t have it because “thats not how cutiemarks work” (no shade to that other post but it’s not that rigid) Hell you don’t even have to think too deeply about their story/personality at all. Take a g1/g2/g3 approach and just make a design that’s cool to you with themes you like (It can be ANYTHING: a food/color you like, something based on a show/game you like) and then just slap it on your pony and don’t worry too much about “what this represents”. If you want to think about it more deeply later, you can. but you don’t have to stress about fitting into the rigid “special talent” rules, okay?
