The first issue of Gen Active was published with a cover date of May 2000. In the "Iced" section, Jodi Slayton used the identity of Jet for the first time and Cryo-Genie (Jean Thaw) was introduced. The Jet persona and Cryo-Genie were created by Dan Abnett, Andy Landing, and Dustin Nguyen. Baum also died in that section. In the "Fish Head" section Mario Marquis and Sedan Deville (and died) were introduced, created by Bed Raab and Bryan Hitch.
