A soft smile pulled at his lips as he watched the young pups run through the corral. It wasn't often that the ranch hands allowed the young pups in the care of the caregivers to come over, but when they did, it was for a couple of reasons - to let them exercise, to get them used to being around other animals, and to show them the miracle of birth whenever one of the cows or horses or pigs were in labor. Today had been no exception, as a few chicks had just hatched, and after showing the pups how to be gentle with the newly hatched chickens, they were now allowed to run around with the horses.
And the horses were absolutely enjoying the chance to really get their legs racing and running.
"How much longer do you think they'll be here?" Matai asked one of the caregivers that was overseeing the crossover of jobs. "I have to shoe one of the horses soon." He tried to not let anyone see the fact that he looked at the children with a small amount of yearning, though that was not something he'd admit aloud to anyone, and instead he tried to keep the stoic expression on his face. The last thing he needed was for a wolf to see him and immediately think he had gone soft and that he was ready to do his duty as an Omega.
He wasn't.
