The Suffolk Strangler Murders: Gemma Adams
Gemma Rose Adams was a 25-year-old woman from Ipswich, UK. Gemma's childhood seemed happy, she was from a well-off, middle-class family and grew up in a large house on the outskirts of Ipswich. As a child Gemma was popular and confident, she enjoyed playing the piano and loved horses. In high school, her parents described her as a girl who had fallen in with the 'wrong crowd.' She began using marijuana, crack and later heroin. As an adult, Gemma was fired from her job at an insurance firm due to her addiction. Family and friends desperately tried to help her fight her drug problem but she soon began working in a massage parlour and later as a prostitute on the streets of Ipswich. At the time of her death, Gemma lived with her boyfriend, who was also an addict, and was communicating very erratically with her family who did not know she was working as a prostitute. On 2nd December 2006, Gemma's body was found by a member of the public in a brook. A cause of death could not be established. Gemma is now known to have been one of 5 victims of Steve Wright, also known as the Suffolk Strangler. Wright murdered five sex workers in Ipswich and is currently serving a life sentence.
