If I wasn’t being distracted by video games and films, I’d have gotten more done on these guys, but I’m pretty happy about how they’re turning out.

I’m making my Elucidian Starstriders a bit brighter than the official colour scheme they have, so I’m giving them red trousers to go along with their blue coats.

So I know everyone is focused on the very good boy in the Rogue Trader box, but I think there’s a lot of potential in the other side of that boxed set.

So let’s talk about the Gellerpox.

Supposedly, Nurgle has found a way to infect the machinery of Geller fields, which everyone knows as the one thing that keeps ship crews from becoming demon snacks while transiting through the Warp. Obviously the faction itself is focused on the crew getting mutated, but the sheer fact of their existence should not be understated by GW.

GELLER FIELDS ARE NOW COMPROMISED, IRREPARABLY.

This could be massive for the setting if GW has the bravery to set the Imperium back. And this would be perfect-a lack of understanding of technology (because everyone in the Imperium is a backwards, genocidal maniac) leading to Warp travel being compromised wholesale? This is perfect. This is exactly what the Imperium needs to be, and exactly what I wanted to see.

Sure, the Imperium recovered pretty painlessly from the Great Rift, and having a Primarch back probably does help somewhat. But no amount of Guilliman-grade plot armor can solve being unable to do FTL travel for an Imperium that spans the galaxy. The Imperium’s ass-backwards fascist ways are undeniably present here, and biting them in the ass just as it should be.

It was pretty fun to paint, especially some something that is pretty damn small.

Transmission II — Mutoid Vermin: Origin — The Parasite Becomes

Among the void-born there is a saying: “Feed the small things, or the small things will feed on you.”

When the Geller Field failed aboard the New Dawn, that saying stopped being metaphor.

In the lower decks, the vermin did not flee. They aligned.

This transmission documents the origin of the Mutoid Vermin. Not daemons. Not beasts. But parasites whose biology remembered what hunger was always meant to become.

This is not a story of corruption imposed from without. It is a record of permission being granted.
