As you can see, things didn’t go well today. It is impossible for this UPS HAT to fit inside this case. When the advertisement said it would work with the SATA card at the bottom and the Raspberry Pi B3+ in the middle, it didn’t say that this was in the case. There is something that will fit because there are holes up there for connector access, but they don’t match this board. So I will need to figure out another way to have backup power for this box, or find a case that fits. The other issue I have with this card is that it says to use NEC180650B batteries and not to use protected versions. I checked to see what I had ordered and they were NEC18650BD cells. The 3200mA/hr capacity appears to be similar and they aren’t ‘protected’, so that works, but I think these have flat tops, not the tops with the bump. So I don’t know if it will make good contact with the battery holder.
I assume that I will be able to use this on one of my other Raspberry Pi 3B or 3B+ cards.
On the plus side, I put it back together and it still booted fine from the hard drive to Ubuntu Mate and I installed a few things from their software botique and another source of software. Ubuntu found the printers on my network and I was able to print a test page to both of them. That was easier than setting up a Windows 10 or macOS printer set up. On the otherhand, I don’t know how flexible it is.
