Webcomics Wednesday
It’s been a while since I have done this, so I thought that it was time to talk about a new comic. Eventually I plan on covering all of my favorite ones. Last time I talked about Dominic Deegan. Today, I want to talk about a relatively new comic. She has been posting for a couple of years. Geekasaurusis an adorably geeky family of dinosaurs. A fun sense of humor and a very wholesome…

Day 2 Next up on our #30ComicsCountdown is Comic #2 - Capture These Moments. The Dinosaur was growing and changing so fast. We were (are) THOSE parents; the ones with the camera at the ready to catch each new and wonderful discovery. But babies have a different agenda. According to the baby union, no cuteness is allowed to be captured on camera, much to the disappointment of Mom and Dad. . . . . In this one I see that my comic style was beginning to come together and I was gaining more confidence with using ink and telling a story in 4 panels. Everyone was gaining a bit of personality and I was experimenting a little with expressions.
In 30 days, I will have created 30 comics for my weekly webcomic, Geekasaurus. So I’m going to be recapping the whole experience with a 30 Comics Countdown to comic #30 and you’re all invited! Yay! This was comic #1 - Who Ya Gonna Call? Ultimately, this was my pilot comic. At the time, I had just finished my free cartooning class with John Klossner and was nervous about ACTUALLY launching Geekasaurus as a real thing. It wasn’t really ready. My website was half finished. I was still working out my cartooning style. I wasn’t sure where I was headed with Geekasaurus. But my friend Debbie had said something that really resonated with me. Something to the effect of being okay with done and not perfect. So I took a deep breath and published my first Geekasaurus. Best thing I’ve done in a long time.

#skillupsunday - Thanks to @etheringtonbrothers for inspiring me to participate in Skill Up Sunday - a day for spreading art education; free for everyone. . . . Today I’m talking about positive and negative space in artwork. The use of space in an artwork is a huge component in creating a message. One lone object in the middle of a page can either be a powerful statement, or it can be an uninteresting blop on the page. Space can be used to force the viewer to look at everything, or only one thing. When we use positive and negative space intentionally we have the ability to shape thought, emotion, and even a physical reaction from a viewer, even if they don’t understand where their response is coming from. 👩🎨 🎨 ✏️ #howtodraw #drawingwithintention #tutorial #art #arteducation #mycomicbookjourney #geekasaurus #artist #cartoonist
