Fragment of Memory
“Please just let me forget.”
♚ - “ You’ve already forgotten so much, my son… I know it’s hard, but you must stay strong. Your comrades need you to stay strong. ” resumed from [x] with @gebirah
Her words were a pebble striking the surface of a pound, sending a wave of pins and needles rippling along his scalp. While Robin's eyes were fixed at an imaginary point straight ahead, he felt as though his eyes were rolling back into their sockets and vision warping grotesquely as the world before him stretched out for what seemed like forever. Just like that, he was floating away; the link between body and soul pulled so far that the slightest application of force would cause tenuous bond to snap. The boy dug his nails into the palm of his hand, the pain anchoring him somewhat. "H-How?" he whispered, the quivering of his voice warbling his words, "How can you say that they need me when you know that I am not fit to stand among them? When you know what I am?"
Robin felt his knees begin to wobble, the shock was too great. He always had his suspicions, the result of an accumulation of evidence over the years...but for it to come out like this. The features of the woman's face - rather his mother's face blurred into a murky haze as hot tears welled up in the youth's face. Gritting his teeth he pressed the heels of his palmed against his eyes. He was at peace with letting go of his past and accepted to holes in his memory. Robin believed that he would have been more than happy to leave everything behind, but it pursued him relentlessly wherever he went. "Why do you insist that I remember?" he cried, his voice cracking under the weight of this new burden.
A fragment of memory that was best forgotten.

Robin knew it was selfish to blame her mother like she just had, and guilt gnawed at her stomach as Morgana took the blame onto her own self, her head bowing under its weight. And yet...the words had flew from her lips before she could think better of them.
“No.” The word came out choked, as if it fought its way to the surface. “No, I shouldn’t have...I shouldn’t have said that.” Even if, on some level, it was true. Robin had spent so long feeling alone...to find family, blood family, after all this time was, to put it mildly, a shock.
“Could we start over?” She hesitates. “I want to know you, mama.”
