The statement left Jack in a stunned quiet, and it took several moments for him to regain the power of speech. Words simply failed to process in a brain quite unable to comprehend the issue it face. Different emotions fought for dominance in his mind and heart; confusion, sorrow, resentment, fear. But laced through it all was the underlying sense of relief. And perhaps he didn’t need anything more. Just the words.

           ‘ i may not have made this clear the last time we came into contact, but you should know that even now, i still amn’t ‘on your side.’ i am as much a guardian as is a fearling. so if you could inform your troops to resume their policy of leaving me well enough alone, i would greatly appreciate it. and extend that courtesy to my father as well. i think we can both agree he deserves his rest. ’

“Artemis?“ she asks gently, looking at him in a knowing way. She has asked this question many times, to herself and of herself. “What stems this question tonight my dear? What ails you?“ She settles beside him, intent to listen.

he stilled in the silence left behind those words, bathed in the pale moonlight. despite not having any sort of physical form the light seemed to hold him firm & gentle, a hold of a promiseso strong it reverberated until it bounced off the stars as somethingstronger than a wish. the Pooka could only chuckle, a soft noise in the pale silence as he turned a vibrant gaze skywards.

And it was bad--- in their own opinion. I could say it shouldn’t have happened but I’m glad it did. The damage simply re-shaped my truest form; one I can be proud of without showcasing years, years, and so many damn years... of self guilt; filled in the cracks with silver linings.
