*Myles holds up his hand in a 0 and chuckles* not a damn thing, my man.
@pureangleda, @yeehowdy-2-point-0 - Answering yours in this as well.
Aster sighs. “Okay. I’ll try to give you as much detail as possible. Please understand - we don’t know how all this works either, so we may not have all the answers.
“Yes, W.D. Gaster, in our worlds, at least, was the royal scientist and, if I do say so myself, a brilliant man. However, when he lost his beloved wife, he lost a part of himself. He never truly healed from the breaking of his soul bond with her and he made it his mission to find a way to bring her back.
“He knew about the theory of alternate universes. Surely, he thought, somewhere out there was a world where Gaster had been lost and his wife was missing him. If he could find that world, he could bring her to him and they could be happy.
“Along with his work on other projects for the King and Queen, Gaster began work on a machine that he named the Multiverse Manipulator. His hope was that he would be able to scan all the timelines and find the one he was looking for, then manipulate the timeline and pull his beloved out into his world.
“Gaster’s sons became concerned with all the time their father was spending in his lab. He was hardly ever home, and when he was it was clear that his mind was not. Finally, both sons came to the lab to talk to their father. They were concerned.
“Unfortunately, the boys came on the day that Gaster was first testing the machine. He insisted on turning it on to show them how it worked and...something went wrong. The machine exploded, and when the smoke cleared, there was only one skeleton where there had been three.”
Aster sounds a bit choked up. He wipes at his sockets before continuing. “In my world, I found that my father and my brother Sans were gone. I’ve since come to the conclusion that my father and I had fused and that Sans was vaporized across time and space.”
“And for me, Pap was gone,” G adds. He’s looked very uncomfortable this whole time, but now he takes over the story. “No one even remembered him, or Gaster. I knew that I was Sans and Gaster, at the same time. It was...it was incredibly weird. It took me a long while to even get myself together.
“Eventually I decided I had to try to fix the machine. Maybe I could reverse what happened. I took on Gaster’s role as Royal Scientist by day, and by night I worked on the machine. I had to fix it.
“I tested it one more time and this time - this time, I found myself in the Void.
“The Void is...it’s a big empty space. It’s the space between universes. There’s literally nothing there. You can’t imagine - I thought - if I hadn’t found Pap, I think I would’ve completely lost my mind. I don’t even know how long it was before we found each other but it was kinda...it was an emotional moment. For a lotta reasons.”
Aster touches his shoulder gently and then signs something. G signs back. Aster continues the story.
“We eventually figured out what all had happened and decided that we were brothers. We’d each lost a brother, and here was someone who knew exactly how we felt. It wasn’t hard to get attached. We spent an unknown amount of time in the Void together.
“And then, one day, we found a door. We went through it - any possible way to get out of the Void - and we found ourselves in another world.”
G touches Aster’s shoulder. The brothers have one more hand sign conversation and then Aster spreads his hands. “That’s all we really feel comfortable saying at the moment. I hope that all made sense...”
“Oh, it made an awful lotta sense,” a voice says from the doorway, “but somehow I don’t think you’re tellin’ the whole truth, cher. Anything else you wanna share with the class?”
Sansy walks in, followed by the rest of the skeletons you know. Their expressions range from excited (Sweets, Papyrus, Blue) to confused (Sans, Boss, Bones, Lucky, Mutt) to curious (Grim, Sansy, Black) to furious (Stretch, Red, Smiley).
Aster looks surprised and ashamed. G gets a great big grin on his face. “Hey fellas,” he drawls. “Fancy meeting you here.”
