1. Which should be saved – a bus full of innocent lives or a loved one? 

Cade’s... unfortunately very good at distancing himself from what he doesn’t know. People included. Given the choice, he’d pick his loved one every time -- he’s already got dead names on his shoulders, and he’s willing to carry a few more for selfish reasons. He feels... like he deserves more, I guess. Better. He’s already lost so many people he loves. The selfish part of him is thinking, “why not someone else? I’ve had enough.”

6. If you tell the truth, an evil person gets to walk away free. If you lie, you may be able to send them away like they deserve. Is honesty worth more than justice? 

Cade’s got no problem with telling a lie to keep people where they should be. He’s done plenty worse things, and that’s not going to change no matter how much good he does. Might as well make the most of it, yeah?

2. How easy is it for your character to laugh? 

Oh, Cade might look serious, but he’s got a wicked sense of humour and he’s usually one of the first to laugh at a situation. It’s very easy to make him laugh, but it’s really, really hard to make him smile. I think that’s the major point to make here.

Very easily entertained, not so easily moved to genuine kindness.

17. Are they easily embarrassed? 

God, no. Cade knows he has plenty of embarrassing stories but he’s so full of bravado that they just roll off his back like nothing. He’s more likely to make a big dramatic spiel about it, just for the shits and giggles, and because he’s just that kind of guy who likes being the centre of attention.

Saying that, that only applies to general, everyday stuff. Cade’s very easily flustered when it comes to navigating the finer details of a relationship. Scott just has to say he looks nice and Cade can immediately feel his ears burning.

31. Who are they the most glad to have met? 

Scott, without a shadow of a doubt. After Torfan, Cade felt like he was just drifting aimlessly. He had no real purpose for being in the Alliance after his parents died, and when he got his revenge on that moon, nothing else felt worth doing. It’s partly why the Alliance took him from front-line duty and stuck him on Arcturus, because they could tell he was becoming something of a loose cannon.

But honestly, meeting Scott turned his world upside down.

They were best friends before anything else, and it was (and still is) the kind of friendship where they knew everything there was to know about the other, but somehow still managed to string together new ideas and make new memories out of old patterns, and old places, in a way that would never leave them. The kind of friendship where sitting in the same room in silence on their omnitools was just as good as a raucous night out on the Strip. They just didn’t want to not be around each other, but it never took away from either of them; neither of them had to compromise themselves for this friendship, and that made them far more confident in themselves too.

They really helped each other grow as people, having that safe place to push the boundaries where they knew the other would understand it was invaluable in a place like Arcturus where daily life was stifling.
