Inspired by rynaross , who said she really wants to see Connorâs teammates find out heâs gay. Once she said that, I couldnât stop imagining how it would happen.
Judeâs always been very vocal about his disinterest in sports. But when Connor tells him that his dad wonât be able to make his next baseball game, Jude canât help but make a plan to show up. Connorâs so good at sports and deserves to have someone there to tell him that. The only thing Judeâs worried about is that Marianna literally couldnât contain herself when he told her where he was going, and she simply refused to allow him to leave without first having him make a âGo Connor!â sign, which bears a large sparkly smiley face in the corner (drawn with a neon purple glitter pen). âI always made them for Jesusâs wrestling matches; itâs not weird, Jude!â Jude kind of thinks thatâs BS, it is weird, but he still takes extra care in making sure his handwriting is nice and neat, a hint of a little grin making itâs way to his lips.
He doesnât even really plan on using the sign, heâs really just carrying it out of the house so that Marianna is pleased. Once he gets to the bleachers, he sits, sign on his lap, and looks over at the dugout. Where is Connor?Â
When Jude spots the dirty-blonde hair poking out from underneath the red cap of the boy thatâs up to bat and about to swing, itâs like a knee-jerk reaction; Jude leaps to his feet, wiggles the sign, and giggles Connorâs name over the sound of the other cheering sports fans.Â
Connor has passed first base and is halfway to second before he gets tagged out. Jude continues to wave his little sign, hoping to get Connorâs attention; Iâm here, youâre doing great!, he wants to shout.Â
Connorâs all the way back to the dugout before anyone says anything. Alex, one of the biggest guys on the team, stops Connor before he sits down.Â
âHey, whoâs the little dude waving that sign like his life depended on it?â
Connorâs eyes squint as he looks up towards the bleachers. Instantly his eyes connect with Judeâs, the smaller boy lowering his sign and shrugging, large smile visible from where he stands. Connorâs mouth stretches to match before he can even stop himself.
Alex stares at him expectantly. Connor breaks Judeâs gaze to glance over to his teammate, grin not slipping in the slightest.Â
âThatâs Jude. Thatâs my boyfriend.â
Connorâs so fricking happy about it that Alex canât bare to question him further.
