Chapter 7: Greetings Mighty Mushu

Marinette enjoyed her day at Titan Tower, she definitely enjoyed the magic summoning. She had spent almost half the day there and was now walking back home with Mushu hiding in the hoodie of her winter jacket.

Walking down the empty alley not far from her home, Mushu poped his head out to look around.

"... Damn, the world looks like shit now, what did you humans do to it?" - Mushu

"Well, this is an alley, normally they look a bit nicer, but we're in Gotham, so it has its own unique charm to it." - Marinette walking down the alley

"... Ah yes, the sight of garbage, and old puddles of blood are very ‘Charming’" - Mushu pointing out the garbage and one old blood puddle

"It's Gotham, it only gets better sight wise in the center of the city, and worse crime wise all over." - Marinette now back on the sidewalk and heading towards a heavily overgrown parking lot

"... How have humans not gone extinct yet?" - Mushu

"Don't know, it's honestly a miracle." - Marinette walking through the heavily overgrown parking lot

"I'll never understand you humans... Anyway, why does it feel like we're in a jungle?" - Mushu

"It's a saftey measure." - Marinette continued walking as the thick brush seemed to part for her to pass.

"... Am I seeing things, or did those plants just move out of the way for you?" - Mushu rubbed his eyes before seeing more of the plants open up, showing a clear path - "It's like fucking Narnia all over again!"

"Wait, you've seen the movie Narnia?" - Marinette paused for a moment to get a better look at Mushu

"No, there is no ‘The Movie Narnia’, I'm talking about Narnia, it's a mystical world where I once had a holder that lived there... The talking Lion was a bit weird, even for me." - Mushu

"... It actually exists?" - Marinette

"Of course! There were even three human children from this dimension that went to Narnia, though I'm not sure how many years ago that may have been." - Mushu

"I-... I don't know how to respond to that." - Marinette stood on the open path, now wondering if every movie/book that was fantasy related, was actually based on real things

Only one way to find out

"... Um... Do you know what lightsabers are?" - Marinette

"You mean those glowy sticks that come in a lot of colors?" - Mushu

"Yes." - Marinette

"... Is this another one of those ‘movies’ of yours or something?" - Mushu

"Maybe..." - Marinette

"... Let me guess, you want to know if ‘The Force Is Strong Within You’, and try to find a way to get a glowy stick too? Is that it?" - Mushu crossed his t̶i̶n̶y̶ travel size arms as he spoke

"... Possibly." - Marinette slowly continued down the path

"... That ain't gonna happen." - Mushu hid himself back in Marinette's hoodie, cutting off their conversation. And Marinette got the message and kept walking... for about a minute

"... So, are you the ‘Kwami’ of Sass or?" - Marinette almost at the end of the path

"What the hell makes you think that?" - Mushu popped back out to look at Marinette

"You just seem a bit sassy to me." - Marinette

"Oh no you didn't!" - Mushu moved his head side to side and snapped his claws while moving his paw infront of his face

"Or Drama? Which is it?" - Marinette walking up to a gate

"Neither! I'll have you know, 𝐈 am the Kwami of Perfection!" - Mushu

"That's kinda vague don't you think?" - Marinette walking through the gate and closing it behind her

"...No, I'm perfect in every way, how can that be vague?" - Mushu

"Well, it's perfectly vague, you could make the world or a tiny useless object perfectly useless, or perfectly useful. So, I see it as a vague thing." - Marinette walking towards a buildings' garden with many, many different kinds of plants

"Okay, I see your point, but... It's perfection." - Mushu's words made Marinette laugh - "What is it now?"

"It's just, with you, someone could draw the shittiest drawing in history, and if you ‘perfected’ it, it would become the perfect shitty masterpiece!" - Marinette had to stop walking from all the laughter

"... That's not funny." - Mushu

"Yes it is! ... WAIT! Has it actually happened?!" - Marinette tried to sound serious, but still had a few giggles as she spoke

"... You people enjoyed those cave paintings didn't you?" - Mushu

"... Holy shit you're old." - Marinette finally stopped laughing when it sunk in Mushu was ancient

"... I'm gonna sleep now, m'kay?" - Mushu stared at Marinette for a moment, before making sure to whip his tail at Marinette's cheek as he went back to the warmth of her hoodie

Marinette ignored the tail whip and entered the garden when she was completely done laughing. She continued over to the front door, and opened it. As soon as she stepped inside and closed the door behind her, she was instantly jumped by Bud and Lou, causing her to laugh as she was covered in slobber.

"Hello Marigold, how was your day?" - Ivy coming out of the kitchen to greet Marinette

"It was great, I had a lot of fun." - Marinette said as she hugged Bud and Lou one more time before getting back up

"I'm glad to hear that, dinner will be ready soon." - Ivy walked over to Marinette to give her a kiss on her forehead

"Okay... um, where is everyone else?" - Marinette couldn't sense their energy anywhere within the building

"Well, Harley is out... doing some business, Ed is running from Batman again, and Selina... I think is robbing another high-end place." - Ivy walking back to the kitchen with Marinette behind her

"Oh, well, I was hoping to show everyone something I found." - Marinette taking off her coat only to see Mushu giving her a VERY disapproving look before heading into the kitchen with Mushu on her shoulder

"And what might that be-" - Ivy froze the moment she saw this tiny thing on Marinette's shoulder.

"Marinette Isley-Quinzel, what is that?" - Ivy with a very concerned look on her face

"Before you say or do anything, this is Mushu, and I'm stuck with him?" - Marinette wasn't really sure how to tell her mom she bound her soul to a t̶i̶n̶y̶ travel size Dragon God

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, I'm- ACK!" - Mushu was instantly grabbed by a carnivorous plant

"IT CAN TALK?!" - Ivy had the plant try and swallow Mushu

"WAIT MOM, NO! He's fine I summoned him!" - Marinette had the plant spit Mushu out, only for him to go face first on the kitchen door and stick to it, in an almost cartoon like fashion, he very slowly slid down the door

"You- what?" - Ivy was very confused

"I summoned him with magic...?" - Marinette suddenly sensed her other mom

"What'd I miss, and who summoned what?" - Harley slammed the door open with a serious look on her face... causing Mushu to get smooshed between the door and the wall, everyone heard a tiny crack of something

"What was dat sound just now?" - Harley looked at a shocked Ivy and a pale Marinette before looking behind the door and seeing a living... something smashed like a cartoon

"... Ives, have yuh been growin' your ‘special’ plants again? Cawze I tink I'm seein' tings… mawh than usual."

"No, what you're seeing is real." - Ivy walked over to Mushu, and carefully grabbed him (well more like peeled him) off the wall

"Den what am I lookin' at exactly?" - Harley poked Mushu, and saw his eye twitch - "Dat's not right."

"M-Mushu? Are you okay? How many fingers am I holding up?!" - Marinette held up 3 fingers

". . . 3?" - Mushu spoke meekly

"Are yuh okay?" - Harley asked Mushu with slight concern

"What does it look like?" - Mushu glowed faintly before returning to his normal look

"Was dat Magic?!" - Harley asked excitedly

"No, it was a trick of the light, OF COURSE IT WAS MAGIC!" - Mushu crossed his arms as he hopped onto Marinette's shoulder

"You don't have to be rude about it, besides, you're a god, you can't exactly die... right?" Marinette didn't notice the growing shock on both her mom's faces

"Of course not. Like I've said, 𝑰 am Perfection, and as such, I can't die in such an imperfect way, obviously." - Mushu lifted his head high with his chest out as he spoke in a proud manner

"Geeze, you and Chloé would love eachother." - Marinette looked at Mushu, who was ignoring her gaze

"Hold Up did I just squish a GOD?!" - Harley was both in awe and shock... mostly very concerned shock

"...Why yes you did, now *ehem*, Bow Down Before Me Foolish Mortal, Before 𝐈 Smight Thee Imperfect Self." - Mushu had such a smug look on his face, before Marinette held him upsidedown - "Hey! Blueberry, what the heck?! Put me Down this instant!" - Mushu went quite after realizing his voice cracked

"Apologize please." - Marinette holding Mushu from his tale

"For what?" - Mushu

"For freaking out my mom, she believes in that stuff, so if you please." - Marinette

"... *sigh* Because Blueberry insists, 𝑰, the Mighty Mushu, Kwami of Perfection: Apologize for what I said that may or may not have scared you." - Mushu spoke reluctantly, but sounded somewhat sincere

"... So where d'ja get de tawhkin' lizard?" - Harley asked as she went to grab some coffee

"Magic summon." - Marinette replied with a smile

"... That's it! All of Yall LISTEN UP, I am NOT a Lizard, for the last time I AM A DRAGON! D.R.A.G.O.N!" - Mushu fed up with being called a lizard

"Then why are you so tiny?" - Ivy asked innocently

"Tiny? Tiny!? I AM NOT TINY! I AM TRAVEL SIZE FOR CONVENIENCE!" - Mushu was really fed up, he hopped off of Marinette's shoulder and started walking to the door

"Mushu, where are you going?" - Marinette watching Mushu walk closer to the door

"I need some fresh air, so I'll just be outside thank you very much." - Mushu continued walking and phased through the door that lead to the Gardens

"Wait, if he could phase through stuff... Why de fuck was he flattened like a pancake on de wall?" - Harley sipping her coffee

"He's just a little dramatic." - Marinette

"I'd say mawh than ‘just a little’ Cupcake, he needs therapy... do Gods even go tuh therapy sessions?" - Harley looking outside the window to see Mushu yelling his head off

"And he's yelling infront of the Common and Green Figwort, my poor babies..." - Ivy was just about ready to have another plants silence Mushu, but Marinette had gone out to Mushu, looked at him for a second, said something that shocked Mushu, and Ivy (Ivy was listening through her babies) before Marinette came back in with a smile. Both adults looked back to the Garden, only to see Mushu standing there like he was just slapped in the face.

"What on earth d'ja say tuh make him look like yuh offended his very existence?" - Harley, who has no clue what Marinette said

"Nothing really." - Marinette acting like she didn't

"Marigold, who taught you that kind of threat, it left him speachless!" - Ivy

"Ummm, Aunt Selina?" - Marinette now looking a bit guilty

"What d'ja say?" - Harley

"I only said that ‘I would refuse to help him find his broach if he keeps acting like a child.’ Did I go to far?" - Marinette looking a bit worried

"My Cupcake's learnin' how tuh threaten people, and dis was huh first threat... I'm SO PROUD!" - Harley gave Marinette a big hug - "Dey grow up so fast!"

"What-!" Marinette was soon getting a bone crushing hug from both her moms

"We're so proud of you, but don't do that to everyone, only bad guys, okay?" - Ivy

"Ok... but... I... can't... BREATHE-!!"

·•——·Now lets back up a bit·——•·

Starfire was in the living room watching Nightstar beat everyone in UMS3, she didn't expect to see Beastboy being strangled while Raven recorded it infront of the Zeta-Tube, but soon realized it was Beastboy and Raven's friend that was to visit the Tower today. Everything seemed somewhat normal about the girl, though she was quite strong if she got Beastboy in a headlock. The next thing that came as a surprise, was Marinette beating everyone in UMS3, she had never seen anyone beat someone so fast before, and then, Robin challenged her to a duel with real swords! Had he lost his mind? She was a civilian!

But Starfire knew there was no way to change his mind, so she gave them wooden swords instead, and hoped that he wouldn't hurt Marinette to much.

... But then she saw that not one of his attacks affected her, she had a perfect defensive position, and was easily dodging all of Robins strikes. Then she saw Robin back off, thinking about something. She was about to call it a tie, but was cut off by Robin throwing instutls at Marinette, it shocked Starfire, Robin had never thrown insults in a simple duel. She looked to Marinette, she thought the girl might cry, but that's when Starfire saw it, something was VERY different about Marinette, while through the whole match she was calm and overall happy, she suddenly had a weired energy to her, she didn't change her expression, she just stood there. When Marinette spoke, it sent shivers down Starfire's spine, the icy tone in her voice wasn't something normal for any civilian. Marinette quickly defeated Robin after that, and Starfire went to make sure he was alright. She continued to watch Marinette more closely, both during the hack off and the magic summoning. Starfire was concerned that Marinette may be a villain, or working for one, so she went to the Watchtower for their daily reports. Starfire was first to arrive, she sat at the table, wondering why Marinette seemed so... destructive...

It took about 30 minutes for everyone to arrive, each JL member listing off their findings for the day, then it was Diana's turn to report in.

"Everything is as it should be with the Amazons, and Themyscira. Though one of our artifacts acted strangely, it stoped quickly, and is nothing that should be of concern, that is all." - Diana sat back down once she was done, and then it was Zatanna's turn

"And do you have anything to report in today?" - Batman spoke from his spot at the table

"Well, I do not know if it is to be of any concern at the moment, but at around 5:32pm EST time, I felt a... disturbance, it was faint, but also very strong, it alsmost seemed like some kind of Ancient Magic was activated for a short time." - Zatanna seemed to be lost in thought with a worried expression as she spoke

"Were you able to determine it's origins and how long it lasted?" - Batman

"Yes, though it lasted for less than 10 seconds, I was able to find the general area it was in, if you'll please look to the screen." - Zatanna brought up a before and after image Magic Map of Jump City

"As you can see before the time of the anomaly, everything was normal, then withing the 10 seconds it lasted, half of Jump City was covered in a chaotic, and destructive Ancient Magic. This Magic wasn't strong enough to do any damage thankfully, so whoever or whatever caused it, either didn't know how to use this type of Magic, or showed a point of weakness or extreme anger in their core. The only spot that was heavily covered with it was the general area of Titan Tower. As of now we don't know what exactly caused this, but I will see to it that it's checked out thoroughly, I would like to request Dr. Fate, and John Constantine's help in order to make the search quicker." - Zatanna sat back down after Batman gave a nod of approval.

"Starfire, did you sense anything different today while you where in the Tower?" - Batman

Starfire stood up and answered a bit nervously

"Yes, infact, I may know who caused it." - Starfire

"Then tell us." - Batman

"I think it was the friend Beastboy and Raven brought to the Tower today." - Starfire

"How old were they, and what was their name?" - Batman

"She is the same age as Beastboy and Raven, and I only know her first name: Marinette." - Starfire

"Well, was their any instance when this Marinette seemed different or angry?" - Zatanna

"Yes... it was during her and Robin's duel..." - Starfire

"What?" - Batman

"Why the hell would Demon Spawn duel a civi?" - Red Hood

"She beat him and everyone else at UMS3. I am unable to change his mind when it is made up, so I kept a close eye on them during their match." - Starfire

"So then she lost to Robin and got mad?" - Nightwing

"No... Robin, couldn't land a hit on her so he threw insults at her to get her mad... and it worked, though probably not how he planned." - Starfire

"Was there any noticable change about her?" - Zatanna

"She had a strange feeling to her afterwards, it felt almost curse like, or... more like looking at death? She asked for Robin to apologize, yet he did not. Her movements were quick and precise, and she took Robin down." - Starfire

Everyone was in silence at the table... except

"She took down Demon SPAWN OH MY GOD!" - Red Hood was soon laughing his ass off, and fell out of his chair

As Red Hood laughed at the not so funny situation, they all looked to Batman for their next move

"Did she, or anyone mention who her parents where, and where she might live?" - Batman

"No, oddly enough, not once did she or her friends say anything about how she or her family were, nothing about where she lived or names of family members." - Starfire

"Then we'll assign two individuals to keep an eye on her." - Batman

"But who should we send?" - Superman

Red Hood just kept laughing, until Batman spoke up

"We'll send Red Hood." - Batman

"Hahaha- WAIT WHAT?! Why do I have to Babysit?!" - Red Hood

"Becuase you haven't had a mission in a while." - Batman

"Bullshit, I have done a lot of missions lately!" - Red Hood

"Name one mission within the last month you had." - Batman

". . . Fine I'll babysit." - Red Hood grumpily sat back down in his chair

"Was anyone from the Tower somewhat close to her, other than Beastboy and Raven?" - Batman

"Nightstar seemed to be forming a possible good friendship." - Starfire

"Then Nightstar will accompany Red Hood in watching them." - Batman

"Why did you make it sound like she's in charge of me?! I'm the adult!" - Red Hood was offended, but Batman ignored him and stood up from his seat to finish the meeting.

·•————· The next day ·————•·

Marinette introduce Mushu to her Aunt the next morning, and they got along quite well from the start. Apparently, Mushu likes shiny things, and has agreed to help perfect Catwoman's heists if he gets at least one shiny gem or metal object...

Her Uncle wasn't able to meet Mushu, since he was caught by a Batbird and was sent to Arkham. Which might be a good thing for once, her Uncle never liked small talking creatures.

Marinette couldn't go out, since Raven and Beastboy told her that she was gonna be under surveillance again, and since her moms were out ‘working’ she was left with her Aunt, Mushu, Bud and Lou. Marinette tried to find ways not to be board, but she failed, and was hanging upsidedown from the railing of the metal spral staircase, while blowing bubblegum when her Aunt walked in.

"What are you doing?" - Selina was confused why Marinette was blowing bubblegum upsidedown... again

"*pop*Trying to think of something fun to do." - Marinette

"... Upsidedown?" - Selina walked closer till she was below her Neice, and looking up at her

"Yup *pop*." - Marinette looking at her Aunt

Selina didn't want Marinette to be like that all day, she could get a headache if Marinette stayed like that, and then she thought of something that might be good for Marinette to learn...

"How about we come up with a game?"- Selina smiled as she spoke

"*pop* Okay." - Marinette untangled her legs from the railing and gracefully landed infront of her Aunt

"*pop* What are the rules for this game?" - Marinette looked up at her Aunt with a smile, wondering if the game would be fun

"The rules are simple, no use of weapons, no outside help, at least for now, no magic or help from Mushu, and no pat downs." - Selina

"Okay, and what is the objective for this game?" - Marinette

"Pickpocket me. It is a useful skill, and we'll make it fun, and if you get good at it, I'll let you join me on a robbing spree or two." - Selina

"Okay, easier said than done, do I have to be in your line of sight, or can I try and do it sneakily?" - Marinette

"Either is fine." - Selina

"Am I allowed to swap the items out with random objects?" - Marinette

"Of course, anything within the rules is allowed, as long as you get the objects." - Selina

"Okay, I'm ready then." - Marinette smiled at her Aunt, happy that this would be fun and useful

And she did remarkably well for her first time. Although Selina put the objects in slightly hard spots in her jackets, Marinette was able to get them, and swap them with other objects similar in size, even when she didn't know what the target item was. They kept on going, and Marinette kept getting better and better with each game. So Selina stepped it up a notch, and started grabbing bigger items, yet Marinette still did well. They took a break around noon for lunch.

"So how are you able to know what kind of item I have, and where, if you didn't see it?" - Selina was wondering how her Kitten managed to make such quick progress in such little time.

"Its' energy." - Marinette replied simply

"What do you mean?" - Selina looked at Marinette, did she have other meta-abilities?

"Everything has its own kind of energy, this table, the silverware, your hidden tazer in your watch." - Marinette listing off different items

"So, you can differentiate the different energies, and know what they are right off the bat?" - Selina

"More or less, I have to know what object the energy is related to, so I would have to at least see it once, and then I can tell what and where it is by the energy, though I can't have a very wide search range, the bigger the object the easier it is to sense it from far away, and the smaller it is, the harder it is to sense from a distance." - Marinette

"Does this also apply to people?" - Selina

"Yes, though the energy of people is unique to only them, I have yet to see two people with the same energy." - Marinette got up from the table to continue their game

"I'm so proud of you!" - Selina gave Marinette a big hug before continuing the game

By the end of the day Marinette was a master at slight of hand. A useful skill for what she had planned. Sometime around 8pm Marinette decided to go out as Wonder Quinn, though her suit had the same color designs, it was altered to fit the cold weather. She also made a special pocket for Mushu within her hoodie, so he could stay in it whether she had it on her head or not. She was running along the rooftops, heading to a special spot where she met up with Beastboy and Raven, they stopped a few crimes as they mostly had fun on the rooftops. They got some snacks and were sitting on some gargoyles...

"... I think I want to steal the Batmobile." - Marinette proclaimed nonchalantly

"*PFFFFF* WHAT?!" - Raven/Beastboy spat there drinks out in shock

"I said I want to steal the Batmobile, I promise I'll return it afterwards." - Marinette smiled sweetly at her friends, they were in for a long, and fast ride.

Chapter 6: Are You An Angel or The Spawn of Satan?

Marinette woke up early the next morning to greet Frank and the other plants. She spent the morning with her family and had started walking Bud and Lou when she got a message from her GGC(Gotham Group Chat)

Animal King-dumb: WAZZUUUUUUP!!!

Shadow Mage: Welcome Back.

Quinn Of Mayhem: Wazuuuuuuup! and I'm glad to be back, so, anything exciting happen while I was gone?

Animal King-dumb: It's been waaaaay boring without you here.

Shadow Mage: He's been fighting Robin almost every day.

Quinn Of Mayhem: ... Explain.

Animal King-dumb: ... (᯾ ☾︎•☽︎_☾︎•☽︎)

Shadow Mage: He blames Robin for making you leave Gotham.

Animal King-dumb: Traitor!

Quinn Of Mayhem: I'm gone for 4 months, and you still can't get along?

Animal King-dumb: ... He started it!

Shadow Mage: That's what she said. Anyway you up for meeting at the usual spot? We got a surprise for you.

Animal King-dumb: Hey!

Quinn Of Mayhem: Sure, just let me finish walking Bud and Lou, and I'll head over.

Shadow Mage: See you soon.

Animal King-dumb: Don't ignore me!!!

Marinette finished walking Bud and Lou, told her moms and aunt she was going out for the day and headed to the usual spot.

When she got to the spot she was engulfed in a bone crushing hug from Garfield

"Mari's back! Yeah! Now we can play the new UMS3 that came out!" - Garfield

"We have to get to the Tower first." - Rachel

"What Tower?" - Marinette

"We're taking you to Titan Tower!" - Garfield

"It's our ‘Welcome Back’ gift to you." - Rachel

"... Does that mean..." - Marinette getting excited

"Yup!" - Garfield

"ZETA-TUBE!!/ Pizza!!!!" - Marinette/Garfield

"Yes, Zeta-... We practiced this and yet you still say pizza." - Rachel looking at Garfield

"Pizza's good, and so are Zeta-Tubes!!" - Marinette

"Yeah!" - Garfield

They started walking and after about 10 minutes, they arrived at a wearhouse. Once they entered, they walked to the back wall, Marinette watched as Rachel used some magic to open a secret passage. When they went inside Marinette saw the tech filled room, with the glorious Zeta-Tube in the center. She stared at the Zeta-Tube, watching as it began to power up.

"Alright, it's ready, but first." - Rachel made a circular motion with her finger as she mumbled something under her breath, and in a flash of purple she was now dressed as Raven.

"That was awesome!" - Marinette admired the cloak Raven had as they stepped closer to the Zeta-Tube. It began to open, preparing to send them to Titan Tower in Jump City

"... Did I ever tell you how Cy became a cyborg?" - Beastboy with a mischievous smile

"No, how?" - Marinette turned her head to look at Beastboy

"It was from a Zeta-Tube." - Beastboy placed his arms behind his head as he calmy spoke

"WHAT?!-" - Marinette's shout echoed for a moment before they were Zeta beamed away.

……… ……… ………

Marinette slowly looked around the room, and sighed in relief when she saw all her limbs attached.

"... See? Nothing happened, honestly, you're such a scaredy c-ahk!" - Beastboy was instantly put in a headlock by Marinette.

"You jerk! I thought I was actually going to lose a limb! What's wrong with you?!" - Marinette tightening her grip as she pins Beastboy to the floor

"Uncle!... u-uncle...!" - Beastboy flailed his one free arm in an attempt to get Marinette off him, but it was to no avail.

"What is the meaning of your commotion?" - Starfire walked in, only to see a dark haired girl she assumed was the friend that was to visit today, holding Beastboy in a death lock on the floor while Raven recorded it.

"Pl..eee..ase! Help...! Sta...ref...ire!!!... she's... kil...ling...me!!!!!!!" - Beastboy streched his only free arm out in the direction Starfire was standing, which caused Marinette to stop and realize she was making a scene.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to disturb you!" - Marinette instantly got off of Beastboy as Raven stopped recording, and Beastboy finally got air back in his lungs

"He had it coming." - Rachel putting her phone away

"No I didn't!" - Beastboy started arguing with Raven as Starfire approached Marinette

"Please, there is no need to be sorry. May I ask of your name?" - Starfire smiled gently at Marinette as she spoke

"My name is Marinette, it is a pleasure to meet you." - Marinette replied with a smile as she looked up at Starfire

"And I you. I am Starfire, please come with me to the living room." - Starfire lead Marinette to the living room, soon followed by Raven and a now calm Beastboy

When they entered the room Marinette's eyes instantly fell onto the big screen TV. She quickly realized the other people in the living room were playing Ultimate Mecha Strike 3.

"I Win, wait for it... Again! Time to pay up you two!" - Nightstar streched out her hand as Robin and Cyborg begrudgingly handed her a 5 dollar bill.

"Thank you very much." -  Nightstar

"Tt. This game is clearly defective." - Robin

"There's no way you can win a 2v1 like that without hacks." - Cyborg

"Hehehe, Nightstar is unbeatable!" - Nightstar then put her money in a jar on the coffee table

"We shall see." - Raven

"Is that a challenge?" - Nightstar turned around, quickly spotting the girl she assumed was Beastboy's friend, Marinette.

"You brought a civilian here?" - Robin was clearly not happy

"We said we were bringing my friend over." - Beastboy

"Our, friend." - Raven corrected Beastboy

"No you didn't." - Robin with a scowl that would make his father proud

"Hold up! Did you just acknowledge her as your friend?!" - Cyborg

"... Anyway, yes we said we were bringing a friend... we just didn't tell you specifically that she was coming." - Raven ignoring Cyborg

"She can't stay- " - Robin was quickly interrupted by Nightstar jumping onto the backrest of the couch

"I challenge you, Lady Marinette, said champion of the Ultimate Mecha Strike games, and friend of Beastboy and Raven, to a battle to the dealth in Ultimate Mecha Strike 3, Gotham Addition!" - Nightstar pointed at Marinette as she stood on the couch

"... Sure, but can I look at the controls first?" - Marinette made her way over to the couch

"Of course, but it won't help you defeat me in the end." - Nightstar plopped herself back onto the couch as she grabbed her controller, and handed one to Marinette

"So, is there a bet system you use or?" - Marinette

"You're new, so we won't add the 5 dollar winners fee." - Nightstar getting comfortable in her spot

"Okay." - Marinette quickly memorized all the combos for most of the characters

"Alright, let's choose our characters!" - Nightstar quickly selected Startfire as her character

"... I'll go with this one." - Marinette chose Harley Quinn, seeing as one of her combos was pretty op.

"You're choosing her? All her movesets are useless, why not use one that has actual powers?" - Nightstar said hoping to speed Marinette up

"... I'll stick with her thanks. Also, you'll change your mind pretty soon." - Marinette now had that look in her eyes, one that Beastboy knew all to well from when they had last encountered the Batfam... So he and Raven took out their phones and pressed record

       FIGHT!

The battle was quick, too quick. Marinette had within mere seconds, defeated Nightstar, using a combo none of the Titans had ever seen before... the room was all but silent except for the game's music

"So, is she still a useless character?" - Marinette's face had a smile, but her voice had a barely noticeable icy edge to it, that had the Titans and even Starfire, an adult, visibly tense up.

"No! She's an amazing character!" - Nightstar blurted out

"Indeed she is, actually, all the characters have their own unique moves, it says it right there in the move set list." - Marinette had lost the icy edge in her voice just as quickly as she had gained it.

The Titans stared at her, Beastboy and Raven giving Marinette a thumbs up, while they still had their phones recording.

"I-I call hacks! There's no way anyone could ever beat someone, let alone Nightstar, that fast!" - Cyborg, still trying to process what happened

"Have you ever heard of spead runners?" - Marinette now had the most innocent look on her face, the very image of an earth bound angel

"Well... yes, but still, you must've used hacks!" - Cyborg couldn't come up with any reasonable answer other than that

"If you think I cheated, why don't you all take turns against me? If you still think I'm cheating, then we can do a 3 v 1 match. Fair?" - Marinette motioned for the two boys to sit on the couch, and before they knew it, they were sitting on the couch

Needless to say Marinette won against them, both in the 1 v 1 battles and in the 3 v 1 matches (yes they had a few 3 v 1 matches), and during the last fight they finally managed to land a hit that got Marinette's health to 99.99%, before she kicked their asses with the most insane combo ever. Now Nightstar, Robin and Cyborg are staring at their side of the screen, watching as it flashes with the word ‘»Loser«’ in bold over their avatars, definitely starting to think Marinette is a meta

"This is unacceptable! I refuse to be beaten by a child!" - Robin marched off into a different room, before coming back out with two swords - "Duel.Now!"

"Robin, you know there is a no fighting with civilians rule, right?" - Beastboy had the smugest shit eating grin possible plastered on his face

"I.Don't.Care." - Robin sent a glare towards Beastboy, but it didn't phase the green boy

"You sure?  And here I thought you followed the rules. Also, I'm pretty sure you're a child as well, especially with that attitude of yours." - Marinette stood up as she crossed her arms with a smirk while staring at Robin

"Fight.Me.... Unless you're scared." - Robin tossed the second sword at Marinette's feet with a devilish grin

Marinette picked up the sword before she spoke

"Oh little birdbrain, I'll show you what it truly means to be scared shitless." - Marinette smiled at Robin as she looked straight into his eyes

"..." - Robin wanted to say something to intimidated the girl, but something about the look in her eyes... a look scarily similar to a feral cat, sent shivers down his spine, yet he refused to back down

They entered the training room and got into their fighting positions, Starfire being the referee. Even though fighting with a civilian was against the rules, Starfire couldn't stop Robin once he was dead set on something, (I mean, that's how he got Bat-cow after all) but the least she could do was give them wooden swords, and be there for when Robin went too far.

Starfire signaled for them to begin, Marinette stayed in a defensive position, blocking all of Robin's attacks with ease. He couldn't get her to attack no matter how much he swung his sword at her, so he tried to anger her

"You're a coward! I bet your parents are horrible people. You're just some random person who doesn't belong here." - Robin pointed his sword at Marinette, who was about 10ft. infront of him, waiting to see if he managed to anger her

"Robin!" - Starfire was shocked that Robin would resort to such low tactics, she looked to Marinette, thinking the girl would start to cry

Marinette just stared at Robin, a cold, emotionless expression on her face. Her eyes began to have a cold feral look burning within them, aimed souly at Robin as she spoke two words, that once again sent shivers down Robin's spine "Apologize.Now."

"And why should I?" - Robin tightened his grip on the handle of his wooden sword as Marinette finally started to take slow steps towards him

"My parents are the most amazing people I could have ever asked for, and if you do not apologize by the time I'm 5ft. away from you, you're dead." - Marinette continued to walk forward, but Robin made no move to apologize

"Over my dead body." - Robin

That's when Beastboy and Raven internally bid Robin farewell as they held their phones proudly, to witness the bloodbath that would soon follow Robin's last words

"... Such a shame, and to think I actually had a sliver of respect for you."

And it was over, just as Marinette said, once she was exactly 5ft. from Robin, she was right infront of him in less than a second, her sword swinging fast and hard as Robin just barely managed to block it from hitting his neck. Marinette spared no time, and had her left leg swing forward in one quick motion, hitting Robin's side, he stumbled back. Marinette swung her sword at him again, this time aiming for where his hands held the handle of his sword. As Robin tried to block Marinette's attack, her sword slid down quickly, and onto his hand. Robin backed off, as he swaped the sword from his right hand, to his left, but that was all he managed to do within the small moment he got away from Marinette. As Robin readied for the next blow, Marinette quickly changed from swinging her sword at him, to sweeping his legs out from under him. As Robin tried to process what had just happened, he felt the tip of Marinette's sword press at his throat.

"Do you want to be a dead birdbrain, or a birdbrain that kept the last of it's feathers?" - Marinette stared down at Robin as the other Titans, including Starfire, had their jaws on the floor

Robin stared at Marinette's sword and then at Marinette before he finally answered meekly "sorry"

"I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that." - Marinette gave him a smile as he glared up at her

"I'm.Sorry." - Robin spoke through gritted teeth

"There! That wasn't so hard now was it?" - Marinette pulled her sword away and streched out her hand to help Robin up

Although Beastboy and even Raven's cackling made Robin want to refuse Marinette's hand, he thought it best to just do as the bluenette said, and he dare not complain to his father, let alone any one of his brothers or sisters, about this. The last thing he needed was a new sister, he definitely didn't want one like Marinette, she was like the Spawn of Satan herself once he angered her...

“Oh god... she's just like me but ten time worse when I started living with father... fucking carma you bitch!”

As Robin was checked on by Starfire and Cyborg, Beastboy and Raven went up to Marinette to hug her

"Avenge my dealth." - Robin looked to Cyborg

"... You better play coffin dance when I die." - Cyborg turned to Marinette and spoke - " I challenge you to a hack off!" - Cyborg figured he would win, considering he was the best hacker in Jump City

"Okay, what kind of simulation are you going to run?" - Marinette

At least, until Marinette came

"Pardon?" - Cyborg began to sweat

"Will it be time based, point based, stealth based, or will it be based on how much damage you can do?" - Marinette smiled as she spoke

Cyborg was royally screwed

"Uhhh, t-time based!" - Cyborg worked best under pressure, he got this in the bag

……… ……… ………

he didn't have it in the bag

They had gone to the hacker simulation room, and set up the toughest program they had. Cyborg was the only one to ever beat it in under 5 minutes.

Marinette on the other hand beat it un under 30 seconds

"How the- why- how- impossible- can't be- meta." - Cyborg ran to Marinette grabbing her shoulder as he yelled - "You're a Meta! That's the only logical explanation!" - Cyborg had startled Marinette by doing what he did, which caused the bluenette to flip Cyborg over her shoulder, like it was nothing, hard onto the floor

"Sorry! Reflexes." - Marinette helped the stunned Cyborg back up

"You aren't human!" - Cyborg ran from Marinette into the safe room, hoping it was all a dream, a really bad dream, before coming back and stood behind Robin

"... I don't have any meta powers that could help me hack though." - Marinette was confused why Cyborg thought her being meta was the only answer, for all he knew, she had an uncle who was great with technology and really liked riddles!

"Is there anything you aren't good at?!" - Nightstar couldn't tell if she was in awe or scared of Marinette... but she did know one thing, she will become Marinette's apprentice.

"I don't know, magic maybe?" - Marinette never really tried magic, though it did intrigue her

Her answer caused Robin and Cyborg to run up to Raven both talking in sync

"Challenge her!Oh Raven- Kenobi You're our only hope!" - Raven glared at them, they knew Star Wars quotes were her one true weakness

"*sigh* You want to learn magic?" - Raven look to Marinette who was instantly at her side as she spoke

"YES!" - Marinette hugged Raven, she would finally learn magic!

"Why do I feel like she won't do the challenge?" - Cyborg looking at Robin

"Because she's fallen to the dark side." - Robin clenched his fist as he stared at his fallen teammate

They went back into the living room and got ready.  Raven gave Marinette a piece of paper and a pen, and told her to draw what came to her mind when she thought of a magic symbol.

Once they were done, Raven had Marinette crumble her paper in her fist, and told her to imagine water flowing into it.

Raven's crumpled paper turned into a dark purple and grey mist infront of her.

Once Raven's mist cleared, a tiny Raven looking creature was floating in front of her.

"See? Just like that." - Raven

"... Greetings my chosen, I am Tapp, the Raven Kwami of Magic, how may I serve thee?" - Tapp

"Oh... it can talk... that's a first." - Raven was a bit surprised

Then, Marinette's crumpled paper turned into a smoke that was mixed with red, gold, and hints of blue, forming a tiny lizard shape before the smoke vanished, leaving behind a lizard.

"Ooh, I got a Lizard!" - Marinette bent down to admire the red lizard as it looked up at her

"Hey! Let's get one thing straight! It's Dragon. Dra-gon. Not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing." - The little Dragon then proceeded to do the tongue thing

"Okay, then mighty little dragon, why are you so tiny?" - Marinette was pretty sure dragons were bigger than 1½ foot.

"I am not tiny, I'm travel size, for your convenience." - The little travel size dragon boasted

"... Why the hell are you here?" - Tapp zipped over to the dragon

"Oh, hey Tappy, how's it Tappin?" -The dragon looked at Tapp, who had a frustrated look on his face

"For Mortals sake! I have told you to call me Tapp! My rightful name! You don't see me calling you Mushie, or Mu-mu, or Shu shu! No, I call you Mushu, YOUR rightful name!" - Tapp was clearly annoyed

"Well, I can call you whatever I want Tappy, and I still wonder what roasted Raven tastes like." - Mushu was now starting to eye Tapp as a snack

"No!" - Tapp hid in Raven's hood to get away from Mushu

"... It's nice to meet you Mushu, I'm Marinette." - Marinette extended her hand for Mushu to hop up on

"Nice to meet you as well. So, where did you find my Miraculous?" - Mushu hoped up onto Marinette's hand as she brought him to her face

"Your... what?" - Marinette

"My Miraculous, you know, a bronze broche that has the head of a dragon on it." - Mushu waited for Marinette to show him his long beloved broche

"uhhhh... I don't have it? I summoned you with a piece of paper." - Marinette

"... wut?" - Mushu

And that's how Marinette and Mushu met, she had to deal with Mushu having a mini heart attack, but all was good, she promised she would find his broche one day. Mushu ended up binding their souls, so he wouldn't fade away, Tapp doing the same with Raven. He explained that normally a Kwami is bound to their Miraculous, which can then be easily passed down threw generations, but somehow, he and Tapp were summoned without their Miraculous, which meant one of two things, either their Miraculous was destroyed, or they were lost in one of the different dimensions that exists between the mortal realms, and the realm of the Kwamis.

Marinette didn't see much of Robin, Cyborg or Starfire after her successful summoning. She spent the rest of her time with Nightstar (who seemed to be following Marinette around), Raven and Beastboy. And before Marinette knew it, she was heading back to Gotham in the Zeta-Tube, a new friend in hand, and a lot of explanations for when she got home.

She knows her Moms and Aunt will love Mushu, but she can't say the same for her Uncle, who has a fear of tiny travel size sentient beings.

How was her life so chaotic, yet so wonderful at the same time?

Well, that's something only fate knows.

Chapter 5: Don't Jinx It!

Chloé Bourgeois... A girl that can be described in many words

"She's absolutely ridiculous! I can't believe you have to do an art project with her of all people!" - Alix sprawled out on Marinette's balcony

"She can't be that bad, besides we might become friends." - Marinette sketching some designs

"Believe me, even I think she's a bit much... She's snobby, annoying, rude, immature, spoiled, she basically has the “I'm better than thow” attitude to a T."- Kagami sitting next to the flowerbed while reading a literature book

"See? Even Kagami agrees... Just don't talk to her, actually don't even move if you're in her sights. She's like a T-Rex, she can't see you if you don't move." - Alix

"Hello, I'm Marinette, it's nice to meet you." - Marinette reached out her hand as she smiled

*Que Alix facepalming herself while Kagami lets out a sigh*

"Whatever, I'm Chloé, but I'm sure you already knew that." - Chloé

They started their project and most interactions went the same way, Chloé would sit in a chair near the window and paint her nails while Marinette did all the work. The next day Marinette and Chloé were the only ones in the art room.

"Okay, let's get started." - Marinette skipping her way over to the art supplies

"You do that, I'll just sit over here." - Chloé walking to her chair

"... Say, is it fun painting your nails?" - Marinette looking over to Chloé

"Of course, what girl doesn't like nail art?" - Chloé

"Well, painting on a canvas is kind of like nail art, here try painting something." - Marinette handing Chloé a paint brush

"Please, I don't do art." - Chloé refusing the paint brush

"But you ‘Paint’ your nails." - Marinette

"It's different!" - Chloé

"Okay, how about this, if I can do a magic trick for you, will you try painting just a little bit?" - Marinette

"...Fine, impress me." - Chloé giving Marinette her full attention

Marinette pulled a seed she got earlier that day out of her pocket and showed it to Chloé

"A seed?" - Chloé giving an unimpressed look

"I'll turn it into a flower, as you can see I only have this seed, and there's nothing up my sleeves. When I turn back around this seed will be a flower, are you ready?" - Marinette still holding the seed for Chloé to see

"Just do it already." - Chloé

So, Marinette turned around putting her free hand over the seed, and imagined it growing. When Marinette turned back around, all Chloé saw was a fully bloomed Common Rockrose flower, leaving her stunned.

"How did you do that?!" - Chloé walking up to Marinette to get a better look at the flower

"Family secret." - Marinette with a small smirk - "So, you want to try painting now?"

"... Fine." - Chloé pouted her lips and sat down at an empty canvas while Marinette walked to the table beside it, and Marinette may or may not have seen a small smile on Chloé's face while she grabbed some more paint.

After about 30 minutes Alix and Kagami came in and found Chloé and Marinette flinging water paint at the canvas

"Ha!" - Marinette whiped her arm out, watching as the wet paint from the brush splattered onto the canvas

"Ha HA!" - Chloé doing the exact same motion, but with a little more flare

Kagami and Alix just stared in amazed silence... they had created a master piece... It was a magnificent painting showing a meadow with many flowers in an almost hazy dream kind of look,  it had a blue sky and a faint rainbow in the background behind some clouds on the horizon

"It's *sniff* Ridiculously beautiful..." - Chloé

"And you thought painting was boring." - Marinette teasing Chloé

"... Isley-Quinzel, look me in the face and say that again." - Chloé

"And you- ("Boop" - Chloé) -Hey!" - Marinette got booped on her nose by Chloé's paint covered finger

"I admit it was fun... to some extent. Now lets act like this never happened." - Chloé getting ready to leave

"How the hell did you get Chloé to paint?!" - Alix snapping out of her surprise, which caused Chloé to get startled and trip, knocking the paint onto Marinette and herself in the process

"Well... that was a colorful entrance." - Marinette now covered in blue, pink, green and red paint

"Utterly Ridiculous!" - Chloé now covered in yellow, dark green, and blue paint

"Ooops?" - Alix shrugging her shoulders

*facepalms* - Kagami

Marinette and Chloé had to walk around school covered in paint, definitely getting a few awkward stares from the other kids. About an hour later, each pair of students presented their shared work of art. When Marinette and Chloé went up, both holding their masterpiece while still covered in paint, stunned the other students.(Not because Chloé was 1. covered in paint, 2. actually carrying the painting, and 3. had a smile on her face) Needless to say they got an A+, and for the rest of the day Marinette, Chloé, Alix and Kagami hung out laughing and having fun. Not long after that the other kids started making bets on who Marinette would befriend next, and how long it would take for that someone to be an instant friend.

Chloé ended up spending a lot more time with the GPS and eventually...

The girls sat around in a circle within Marinette's room with all the lights off, only having a single lamp in the center of the room to add an ominous glow

"Are you ready to take the oath?" - Alix

"Yes, but why do we have to make it look like some utterly ridiculous ritual summoning?" - Chloe

"I agree with Chloé, I'm not allowed to summon the unnatural or paranormal." - Kagami

"Well, let's forget the paranormal stuff for now, ehem. Chloé Bourgeois, do you promise to always have our backs..." - Marinette

"Through the good and the bad..." - Alix

"To say the truth and nothing but the truth." - Kagami

"Wrong oath Kagami." - Marinette whispering to Kagami

"...... To always stay on the path that is straight and true..." - Kagami

"To uphold the justice in this crazy world..." - Alix

"And to guide those who have abandoned the light... Are you ready to join the GPS?" - Marinette

"Yes." - Chloé

"Girls, time to eat- ... Marinette, please tell me you aren't summoning the unnatural like Harley did that one time." - Selina just opening the door and seeing basically a ritual gathering

"In mom's defense, she was trying to get rid of the spooky spirit." - Marinette

"That was from a story Ed made up that one time, you wouldn't stop seeing the shadows ‘moving’, and then Harley thought she saw them move, and she ended up doing a ritual to get rid of it, but we ended up with the cursed toaster ghost. And now all bread we toast is burnt back home." - Selina

"... But burnt toast is the best!" - Marinette

"Ivy told you that it would make you grow quicker, which then tricked you into liking burnt toast, which isn't tasty at all." - Selina

"*dramatic gasp* You Take That Back!" - Marinette

"Nope, now come down in 3 so we can eat." - Selina closed the door and walked away

"You girls agree with me right?" - Marinette turning to her friends

"... Marinette, how can you think burnt toast is good?!" - Alix

"It's... burnt." - Kagami

"Ehhh, it's okay." - Chloé

"Thank You!" - Marinette hugging Chloé

"... un-second thought, I retract my ‘yes’ to that oath." - Chloé

"Too late." - Kagami

"You're stuck with us..." - Alix then leaned over and whispered in Chloé's ear - "Foreverrrrr."

After they had their food they went back up to Marinette's (ritual free) room and started playing Ultimate Mecha Strike 2.

After a few rounds of Marinette dominating Ultimate Mecha Slaughter Strike 2, they moved on to watching some Jurassic Park

"So... your mom cursed your toaster?" - Chloé

"... maybe." - Marinette

"Honestly though, who in their right mind likes burnt toast?" - Alix

"Apparently Marinette." - Kagami

"It's kinda like thin burnt rice crispy treats, just minus the sugar." - Marinette

"*dramatic gasp* You Take That Back Right Now." - Alix

"You don't even know what rice crispy treats are, do you." - Marinette now looking away from the TV and directly at Alix

"Not a clue." - Alix

"It's an American treat, it's actually really good, not to sweet, and not to crunchy." - Chloé

"This is why you are part of the GPS." - Marinette hugging Chloé - "You understand most red blooded American treats, and for that I give you my thanks." - Marinette now starting to tear up

"What are we, chop liver?" - Kagami pointing to Alix and herself

"Well unlike you two, I have seen the other side... I swear, they're all hillbillies, and they live in the worst weather ever! Sunshine state my ass, more like out door saunas 24/7." - Chloé ended up mumbling her last few words

"... That's Florida, and it's not that bad, it never gets hotter than 115°F, and that's during summer." - Marinette

"... No wonder you like burnt toast... your brains were burnt with it." - Alix

"I didn't live in Florida, I lived in New Jersey, and the weather is better there." - Marinette

"That's what she said." - Kagami stuffing her face with popcorn

Over the course of the next few months Marinette taught the GPS all she knew about parkour and self-defense, at first they wondered why she knew so many different techniques of self-defense, until she explained where she grew up had a few unpleasant people. They still think she's meta.

When Winter rolled around she was to head back to Gotham for the next month and a half. She was packed and ready when the GPS burst into her room.

"Don't leave! I need an Ice skating buddie!" - Alix clinging to Marinette

"You have Chloé and Kagami, besides, I'm pretty sure Kagami is better on the ice than I am." - Marinette accepting the fact she won't be getting Alix off her anytime soon

"It's Not The Same!" - Alix becoming a human koala on Marinette's back

"She's going to see her family, show some restraint!" - Chloé detaching Alix from Marinette

"No!" - Alix getting out of Chloé's grip and reattaching herself to Marinette

"There's a new attraction with a big ramp jump for the ice skating rink." - Kagami on her phone

"Really?! Let me see!" - Alix detaching herself to look at Kagami's phone, only to see the normal boring ice skating rink - "You tricked me." - Alix gave Kagami the stink eye

"It got you off of Marinette at least." - Kagami putting her phone away

"I'm gonna miss you girls." - Marinette gave them a big hug

"You better not do anything stupid while you're back home." - Chloé

"I would never." - Marinette thinking of the time she ran from the Bat-Birds

"What city in New Jersey do you live in again?" - Alix

"That's-" - Marinette

"Kitten you all set for Gotham?" - Selina opened the door and saw Marinette in a big hug with the girls - "Oh, you girls are here, hope you said your goodbyes because we're leaving in 10 minutes." - She then closed the door to make sure everything was ready downstairs

"... ... ..." - Chloé/Alix/Kagami - "You live where?"

"Gotham...?" - Marinette slowly backing up to grab her luggage and make her way to the door

"Oh hell No!" - Kagami standing between Marinette and the door

"You're staying!" - Alix clinging to Marinette again

"Gotham's a death trap!!!" - Chloé joining Alix and clinging to Marinette

... ... ...

After some convincing the girls let Marinette go, and she was now on the plane that would take her back home.

"... They really think Gotham's a death trap?" - Selina relaxing in the first class seats she got them.

"It's not that bad is it? I had asked them what they thought could even go wrong." - Marinette

"... Well literally everything can go wrong in Gotham... It's not to late to get off actually." - Selina getting up

"Not you too!" - Marinette grabbing her Aunt's hand

"I'm joking Kitten... you are wearing the bullet proof vest under that coat right?" - Selina

"Of course." - Marinette

"Then we should be fine..." - Selina now sitting back down and looking 10 times more nervous than before

"..." - Marinette put her hands together and mumbled under her breath - "Please don't jinx it. Please don't jinx it. Please don't jinx it. Pleeeeease don't jinx it."

……………… They had an hour delay, had to switch flights and couldn't eat anything because it looked like it would give them food poisoning, and they didn't get a wink of sleep......... but they made it to Gotham in one piece... at 2 in the morning.

"You jinxed it." - Marinette dragging her luggage sleepily

"It can't get any worse now-" - Selina

"No!-" - As Marinette tried to stop her Aunt from finishing her sentence, a truck past by the curb and sent a blanket of powdered snow flying into them - "-say it..."

"...Okay, now it-" - Selina was cut off by Marinette stuffing her mouth with the last secret cookie she had

"Don't anger the jinx gods, please." - Marinette pleading to her Aunt

After Selina finished the secret cookie she called Ivy to pick them up. They waited about 15 minutes before Ivy, along with a sleeping Harley in the back seat, picked them up. As they got in the car Harley jolted awake

"Are we dere yet?" - Harley rubbing her eyes

"Yes, and in our snow covered glory we entered the car." - Marinette giving her mom a hug

"I missed yuh so much, it just hasn't been de same wit'outcha cupcake." - Harley returning the hug

"And what about me, did you miss me?" - Selina getting comfortable in the passenger seat

"Ehhh." - Harley tilted here hand from side to side as she continued to side hug Marinette

"... Have I ever told you how great you are at warm welcomes?" - Selina giving Harley the stink eye

"She didn't mean it, you know she has no filter at this hour." - Ivy pulling up to the stoplight

"In other words her honest opinion of me being back is ‘ehhh’, I'm glad she thinks so highly of me." - Selina resting her head on the window

The ride to their base was peaceful, they arrived and went to their rooms after Marinette gave her moms and aunt a goodnight hug. As Marinette went to sleep in her bed, Bud and Lou jumped onto the bed and curled up next to her, as she stroked their fur, she couldn't help but feel excited to spend time with her family and friends. She soon fell asleep in the calm silence of her room, the last thought she had before drifting off, was that she was happy to be back home.

Chapter 4: The Formation Of The GPS (Gal-Pals-Squad)

During the flight, Marinette spent most of her time drawing or practicing her French with her Aunt, she was nervous, but also excited. They landed in Paris, France and got through the airport security without problems, and were now in a car with the Dupain-Chengs. She wasn't sure how to greet herself when her Aunt spoke up.

"I can't thank you enough for letting us stay with you Sabine." - Selina looking at the woman in front of them

"It's really no problem at all, and I assume this is Marinette. Hello, it's nice to finally meet you, I'm Sabine and this is my husband Tom." - Sabine gestured to Tom before looking over at Marinette and giving her a smile

"Oh, um Yes, bonjour, It is an honor to meet both of you." - Marinette replied a little nervously

She got a laugh out of her Aunt, and she was less nervous after the ride to the Bakery.

……… ……… ………

"And this is the living room, Selina you'll be in our guest room just down the hallway, and Marinette you'll be in the loft." - Sabine showed them both rooms, and were then left to unpack their things in their respective rooms.

It was about 6pm when Marinette finished, so she still had some time to explore, she walked into the living room where she found her Aunt and Sabine chatting happily.

"Um, excuse me, I'm done unpacking and I was wondering if it would be okay to walk around a bit." - Marinette walked up to the two with a shy smile

"Oh course Kitten, as long as you have your GPS and aren't gone for more than an hour you can go out." - Selina

"Thank you, see you later, love you." - Marinette then gave Selina a hug and headed to the door waving goodbye before walking out.

……… ……… ………

The Bakery was really close to the park so she started there, it was nice, it had a fountain in the center, a playground and even a few trees and flowers along the fence. It was a nice place filled with bright and beautiful colors. She bent down near a bush of common zinnia flowers and started up a conversation with them, of course she made sure no one but the flowers heard her, until...

"Look out!" - Random Voice

Before Marinette could react she was hit by something, no wait, it was a person. Thankfully they didn't hit the zinnias so Marinette wasn't to worried... then she remembered that there was another human on her and she hasn't said a word.

"Are you okay?" - Marinette in flawless French

"Yeah, just rolled into my worst enemy... that pebble." - The other girl then pointed to the tiniest of pebbles on the path, getting a small snort from Marinette

"Anyway, I'm Alix, nice to neet you." - Alix then got back up

"I'm Marinette, and likewise." - Marinette stood up as well, realizing she was just barely taller than Alix, even if she wore roller skates

"So..." - Alix

"... Do you live on your skates or do you just use them when you want to tumble into people?" - Marinette pointed to Alix's skates

"I live on them with the occasional human tumble... Have you ever used skates?" - Alix trying to keep the conversation going

"No not really, the closest I ever got are my heelys shoes." - Marinette

"Not really sure what heelys are, but you wanna give it a try? I got a second pair in my backpack, here." - Alix then took her backpack off and grabbed her other pair, handing them to Marinette.

Alix helped Marinette put them on and they started

"Okay, so what you want to do is keep your balance, and push forward like this." - Alix demonstrating proper skating techniques

"Okay, so like this." - Marinette was slightly wobbly, but managed to get it right.

Alix then showed her how to go backwards after she got going forward down. Marinette did it after a few tries, they continued to do simple tricks and Alix seemed to get more and more excited as Marinette kept pace, and they took a break after about 15 minutes.

"You wanna be friends?" - Alix with a big smile

"You sure?" - Marinette was a little surprised

"Heck yeah, you're the first person that actually skated really well with me, so I want us to be friends, and future skating buddies. So, what say you Marinette?" - Alix reached her hand out

"I expect the honor of being your friend and skating buddie." - Marinette then shook Alix's hand and they were now friends.

They continued to skate around for the next hour

… Selina's point of view …

It had been about 55 minutes since Marinette left to go explore and in all honesty, Selina was getting worried, so she decided to go look for her. She went to the park first and found Marinette skating with another kid, she was having fun, and could see the massive smile on her face. She was now less worried, but it would be dinner time soon so she would keep a watch until they had to go.

… Back to Marinette's point of view …

The sun had just started to go down and that's when she saw her Aunt walking towards her.

"Auntie, hi!" - Marinette gave a big smile as she waved to Selina

"Hey Kitten, it's almost time for dinner, so we have to head back, but maybe you two can play together tomorrow." - Selina smiled back as she spoke

"I also have to be going soon." - Alix spoke up

"Okay, here are your skates." - Marinette put the skates back in Alix's backpack.

"... You're Alim's kid, Alix right?" - Selina now getting a better look at Alix

"Wait, you know my dad?" - Alix was kinda surprised by that

"Yes, I helped him with a few of the exhibits in the Lourve, like the jems and the small sphinx statue in the egyptian exhibit." - Selina's words made Alix even more surprised, but excited.

"That's really cool, I guess I'll see you tomorrow Marinette, bye for now." - Alix then skated out of the park.

"And you were worried about making friends." - Selina teasing Marinette

"It just sorta happened, all thanks to her worst enemy... that pebble." - Marinette pointed to the itty bitty pebble and Selina just laughed as they walked back to the Bakery.

……… ……… ………

The next day Marinette got up around 5am, she had noticed the day before that she also had a balcony, and when she went up there it had a flowerbed with only soil in it. She got permission from Sabine and Tom yesterday to plant the seeds she got from her mom, and so she got to work. She made sure to give each seed a fair bit of space between them, put a thin layer of soil over them, and gave them water. It only took her 30 minutes, so she still had a lot of time before breakfast. She grabbed her sketch book, and started drawing the scenery around her, and by the time she was about halfway done Selina came up to get her for breakfast.

After they had breakfast Sabine and Tom began to open the Bakery while Marinette and Selina started looking at what schools she should go to, one that stood out was a school called École D'art Élémentaire, it seemed to have good reviews and was the closest to them.

Later that day Marinette met up with Alix, and got a tour of Paris (while on skates).

… … … … …

"And that's École D'art Élémentaire, It's pretty fun, and they have a lot of different art related stuff as well as normal boring learning, personally, I prefer the painting classes." - Alix pointing to the school

"Well I guess I'll soon see what's in there for myself starting tomorrow." - Marinette then continued down the sidewalk

"Wait, you're going to the same school?!" - Alix skating up to Marinette

And thats how Alix found out they would be classmates. They spent the rest of the day skating around and seeing most of the sights.

The next day Marinette got ready for school after taking care of the seeds, went down for breakfast and headed out with Alix who was waiting downstairs. Marinette was denied using skates by Selina, so she put on a pair of heelys and they were of.

"Sucks you couldn't wear the skates." - Alix

"Yeah... but heelys aren't technically skates." - Marinette then started to move without really walking

"Holy cow! Those are awesome where did you get them?!" - Alix in aw of the wonderful creation that are heelys

"I got them back home, they're kinda popular in the states." - Marinette

"It's a creation from god!" - Alix

"It's skates and shoes in one!" - Marinette

"THEY'RE REVOLUTIONARY!" - Alix

"THEY'RE HEELYS!" - Marinette

They chanted heelys all the way to school, most of the adults around them thought they were witnessing an uprising. School was okay, most of the things they taught Marinette already knew, she ended up liking the art class way more because she had free range to use all of the art supplies for anything art related.

Marinette mostly stuck to Alix during and after school, both getting into crazy little pranks, Marinette was having fun, but one week Alix got sick and they were unable to see each other, it was during this time that she noticed her school had fencing classes. She decided to ask the teacher if she could try it out, and they agreed.

"Alright class, we have a new student joining us for today, please give her a warm welcome, please introduce yourself." - The Teacher then let Marinette introduce herself

"Bonjour, I'm Marinette, it's nice to meet all of you." - She finished with a big smile

They started the class with the basic formations, and then moved on to sparing. Marinette was paired with Kagami, she didn't notice that most of the kids got quieter when they got into position.

"Une, deux, trois, commencent." - Teacher

They began and Marinette to most of the classes surprise was able to dodge all of  Kagami's attacks, she just kept avoiding strike after strike. Marinette jumped back and both waited for the other to make a move, Marinette then leaped forward, and Kagami took another swing, but as it was about to make contact, Marinette ducked under, sliding on her knees and landed the frist and final strike. Marinette had stunned not only Kagami, but the whole class and teacher as well, as she got back up she pulled her face guard up and reached her hand out.

"That was really fun, may we spar again?" - Marinette gave a big smile as she spoke

Kagami was silent, as was the rest of the class, she lifted her face guard and looked at Marinette

"... Yes, we may spar again, maybe you can give me some pointers on how you dodged so well." - They shook hands, and Kagami's words just shocked the class even more, because every single person she spared with lost (until now) and they never got to spar again unless the teacher made her spar with them. And so she was given the name ‘Ice Princess’. This continued for the next two days, and then Alix was back, she walked over to Marinette during lunch and found Kagami the Ice Princess sitting next to her, and actually smiling.

"... Is this hell? Has it frozen over? Or has it melted, because I swear that's the Ice Princess sitting right next to a literal human incarnate of sunshine and rainbows." - Alix then sat down in front of them, putting her elbows on the table as she laced her fingers together and rested them at her face as she stared at the two.

"Hello to you too Alix, I guess that means you know Kagami?" - Marinette imitating Alix

"I do not believe we have met before, so I shall introduce myself. I am Kagami Tsurugi, nice to meet you." - Kagami followed Marinette's lead and also began imitating Alix

"I'm Alix, nice to meet you too... so, how exactly did this happen? I'm gone for three days, and you manage to break the Ice with the Ice Princess." - Alix was stunned when both girls gave a little snort in response

"What?" - Alix

"Oh, no it's nothing, it's just..." - Marinette trying to keep a straight face

"You said “breack the ice”... and here I thought they called me cold for my chilly remarks." - Kagami not holding back on the puns

"Well, sorry for that, but I like people that have a cool sense of humor, you know? So I needed an Ice breaker pun. Snow time like the present, right?" - Alix

This went on for a few minutes and near the end Marinette was gripping her stomach while wheezing between laughs on the floor.

"Um, did we break her?" - Kagami looking between Marinette and Alix

"I have no idea...wait." - Alix walked to Marinette as she was still laughing, grabbed her shoulder and said this - "Stop it, get some help." - ... that only made it worse

"What did I say?!" - Alix quickly removing her hand

"Y-you ...u-used... a meme hahahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!" - Marinette

"What is a “meme”?"- Kagami

"Aaaah merde, you right." - Alix

"STAHHHHHHHPPP!" - Marinette

This continued until one of the teachers came up to them, finding their new sweet and joyful student on the floor wheezing, kind of starting to gasp for air, Kagami their resident aloof child, and Alix their resident chaos creator. They got a warning, and they had to apologize.

… Later at the park …

"What are these so called “memes”, and why did it make you laugh more at what Alix said?" - Kagami genuinely confused

"... It is to complex to just speak it, I must show it. Let us head back to the Bakery and I shall show you some quality memes." - Marinette

"Tch, Noice." - Alix got a light slap on the shoulder for that, followed by a snort

Back at the Bakery they watched memes, Kagami went through the “I don't get it” phase, the “but why?” phase, then the “That was kinda funny” phase and finally the “I live and breath the Memes” phase. So now they have corrupted sweet Kagami, after a bit of silence Kagami began to laugh when they weren't watching memes.

"Why are you laughing?" - Alix

"I finally understand everything the other kids said, every reference, every joke... I have been living in the dark haven't I?" - Kagami now not laughing

"We have opened your eyes my friend, now join us, and we shall bring forth the era of memes." - Marinette placing her hand on Kagami's left shoulder

"One of us." - Alix placing her hand of Kagami's right shoulder

"I accept, let us rain down upon the unfortunate souls that refuse to see the light." - Kagami placing her hands on their shoulders

"Now all we need is a name." - Marinette

"How about... Gal-Pals-Squad?" - Alix

"... Sure." - Marinette/Kagami

And so the Gal-Pals-Squad (GPS) was formed, and they traveled all over Paris (they stayed near home don't worry) daring each other to do crazy things, and just having silly fun.

… A week after the GPS formed, they are now at the park again …

"Okay Mari, I dare you to... do some sort of trick off that bench." - Alix pointing to a bench a few feet away while sipping her soda

"Sure, what kind of trick?" - Marinette

"Any trick is fine." - Alix

"But you could hurt yourself." - Kagami trying to be the voice of reason... and failing

"Please, I have leaped over buildings, a bench is nothing." - Marinette waving Kagami's worry off

"There is no way you actually- " - Kagami

She was cut off by Marinette dashing to the bench, jumping and landing her right foot on it, then taking a step onto the upper back rest of the bench with her other foot. Using her momentum to jump off into a double forward flip, as she yelled “PARKOUR” and landed perfectly on her feet.

"See? Easy peasy." - Marinette walking back to her friends

"..." - Kagami/Alix

"What?"- " Marinette

"Why are you not on the gymnastics team?" - Kagami

"Forget that, where did you learn how to do that?!" - Alix

"Well I am sort of part time on a gymnastics team, but their back home in the states, and to your question." - Marinette looking at Alix - "My mom taught me most of what I know."

"I beg of you my dear friend and skating buddie, please teach me the ways of flips and tricks." - Alix giving Marinette puppy dog eyes

"I too wish to learn how to do flips and tricks." - Kagami

"Sure, we can start tomorrow, but fair warning, I'll be starting you girls with basic stretches, and slowly working you up to basic things. It will be boring at first, but it'll be worth it in the long run, trust me." - Marinette

So thats how they starting learning beginner tricks, and also found out Marinette is extremely flexible, to the point it looks almost unnatural, but she just says it's from years of practice. They think she's a bit meta... Then Marinette did a trick as a demonstration to what they could do with lots of practice (a cartwheel into a hand spring, into a backwards flip, into another cartwheel, and ending in a half sideways backflip with a perfect landing.) They definitely think she's meta, but that just means their friend is that much cooler.

Thus the GPS became a force to be reckoned with, kids (younger kids) aspired to be like them, adults envied their youth, and villians feared them... yet their greatest enemy was yet to come...

Chapter 3: Au Revoir Gotham My True Home

Marinette explained what happened and that she didn't mean to cause trouble, she didn't know why the bats were looking for her (author to audience... it's because she looks like one of his bat kids gone rouge.) When she asked how they knew the Bat was looking for her, she found out that Selina was actually dating the Bat... So Marinette was very surprised at that, her family talked about it and a few days after her birthday she'll be going to Paris, France with Selina to be with a family friend of hers. Marinette was now really thinking she was cursed, but she made sure to take it in stride and spend as much time with her friends and family as possible.

"Doan wawhry suguh, we'll make sure tuh visit as much as possible, yuh can even visit us durin' summuh and wintuh break." - Harley held back the tears as she hugged Marinette, Bud, Lou, Ivy, Selina, Ed and even Frank joined in on it.

……… ………

Marinette was out with her friends still not sure how to tell them, she started with the obvious.

"Sooo... tomorrow I turn 10... the double digits." - Marinette

"Soon you'll be one of us!" - Garfield gave Marinette a side hug with a big smile, god he made it harder to tell them

"So what do you want to do? We can celebrate, tomorrow and the day after that, and the day after that, heck we can celebrate for the whole week while we're at it!" - Garfield

Rachel noticed the sad smile Marinette had as Garfield continued talking.

"Is there something you need to tell us?" - Rachel's words stoped Garfield in his tracks, he then looked at a slightly teary Marinette, and he felt a slight tinge of pain in his chest.

"I- um, I'm moving this Saturday... I'm sorry I really don't want to, but- *hic* I-" - Marinette was cut off by Garfield giving her a hug, he rubbed small circles on her back as she let out a few sobs. Rachel patting her shoulder to try and comfort her.

After they were like that for a few minutes, they decided to get ice cream

……… ……… ………

"I'm sorry." - Marinette eating her chocolate chip ice cream

"It's not your fault Mari, besides, we can officially say we have a pen pal in Paris." - Garfield with his chocolate mint ice cream trying to lighten the mood, managed to get a chuckle out of Marinette.

"We can still video call, or text you. And your parents said you can visit on summer and winter break." - Rachel just starting her strawberry ice cream

"But what if I need a friend to talk to when I can't sleep? Or if I need a movie buddy? Or gaming buddy?" - Marinette

"There are online multiplayer games we can play you know." - Rachel

"Yeah, and I'm sure you'll make friends over there really quickly, I mean you already know a few other languages, including French, so there isn't any communication problems." - Garfield

"I wish you guys could come with me..." - Marinette almost done with her ice cream

"... Didn't you say you always wanted a hamster, maybe one that's unique, like a the rare Green Gotham Hamster?" - Garfield with a mischievous grin

"Selina's family friends own a bakery, so no pets allowed. Sorry Rare Green Gotham Hamster, I'm afraid you're staying native to Gotham." - Marinette said patting his shoulder.

"Wait they own a bakery?! As in you can be on a sugar high 24/7?! Take me with you!!" - Garfield

……… ……… ………

Soon it was time for them to go home, when Marinette got home, she continued packing what she would need, making sure that her Siren plushies where safely secure, and then went to eat dinner.

The next day she made sure to get up early, Garfield and Rachel knew where she lived, and wanted to make sure everything was ready for them, setting up the games they would play into the night, and the movies they would watch after that.

She then went to the Gardens to greet her Mom and the plants, doing the usual routine of checking all the plants, complimenting and watering them. During which a sleepy Harley walked over giving Ivy and Marinette a morning kiss before going to make her coffee.

At breakfast she didn't see her Aunt yet, she assumed she was robbing someone rich again.

……… Over to Catwoman ………

"Come ta mama." - Catwoman mumbled as she used her claws to cut the glass surrounding an old elegant purple sapphire that belonged to one of Gotham's founding fathers' wives.

……… Back to Marinette ………

About an hour after breakfast Garfield and Rachel came over, holding Marinettes' rapped presents, they started the day off with trivia games, which they called the MIQ (which can mean either Marinette Isley-Quinzel or in this case Memory Intelligence Quiz) which Marinette and Rachel came to a tie followed by Ivy, then Harley, and Garfield. They then moved on to board games, Marinette decided to play The Game of Life rather than Monopoly (because lets be honest, who has ever finished that game in the time of a signle day? An extreme speedrunner... maybe.) while the adults got the cake ready. Surprisingly Garfield won, he got the acting career, a sports car, a nice old fashioned mid modern house, a wife, and 3 kids... Marinette got the fashion designer career, got a motorcycle, and a small, but nice victorian house, a husband, and one kid... and Rachel got the scientist career (because science is just simplified mortal magic), a delorean car (and even said "Since science is magic I can make it fly, so technically, I don't need roads where I'm going."), a modern cabin in the woods, single (she didn't want a significant other to interrupt her magic science) and got a pet bird.

Once Selina and Ed came over, they began the party, playing games like DDR, Ultimate Mecha Strike 2, and Racing games.

When it came time for Marinette to blow out her candles, she wished that everything would be okay, and that she will be able to come back to Gotham permanently, and blew them out.

She then got to open her presents, she started with Harley's, and got a custom baseball bat that was a dark steel blue, with a light grey handle grip, and it had the words "Quinn For Da Win" on it, putting a smile on her face, when she opened Ivy's gift she got seeds of her favorite flowers to plant over in Paris. She then opened her Uncle Ed's gift, which was a small watch that had special A.I., it had a cover over the inside screen that would flip open to reveal another screen. The cover was silver with a blue question mark, and when it opened, it showed the time, and the location you where in, it could also act as a GPS, and a phone (it could even play music AND had an incredible battery life span). She then moved on to her Aunt Selina's gift, finding a small purple sapphire in the shape of a cat paw, surrounded in silver. She then opened Rachel's gift, it was a travel mug that said "Coffee lives in my veins." (Marinette started drinking coffee recently) which made Marinette laugh, and then she got to Garfield's gift. When she opened it, she found a handmade charm bracelet, it had animals that she really liked around it, and there was one that was a small tiger, with it's eyes and nose having a light green peridot stone, to represent the first day they met. She put the bracelet on her right rist and thanked Garfield for it, and gave everyone a big hug.

She spent the rest of the day playing with her friends, having a wonderful time, and getting a massive sugar rush from all the cake they had. When it came time for dinner they were running low on energy, but were back to normal after Harley snuck some coffee into their food... The only thoughts that went through Garfield and Rachel's minds where "That's why Mari drinks this stuff..."

After dinner they played all kinds of video games, and ended it by watching Back To The Future. They fell asleep some time after 2am.

The next morning they all had breakfast and then spent the day playing parkour tag over roofs and playing I spy games. And at the end of the day Marinette gave her friends a big hug, before heading back home. She spent her time with her moms, Uncle, and Frank, playing more boardgames and discussing what she should do to make friends...

"Just be yawhself, we love yuh fawh who yuh are, and I'm sure everyone in Paris will love yuh too... if dey doan, den dey most likely have a massive defective reject of a brain." - Was Harley's opinion

"Riddle the f-ck out of their brain, if they can solve all of them, and like you for you, then they are worthy." - Which was Ed's opinion

"Use a chemical based compound from the magnolia flower, combined with three tulip petals, one rose petal, and pollen from a lilac to create a befriending potion." - Ivy's words made everyone silent before Ed spoke up

"... Harley if you're being mind controlled blink." - Ed deadpaned, which had Marinette cackling

"I'm not bein' mind controlled, also yuh nawhmally say ‘blink once or twice’ not just ‘blink’ I could blink at any random interval and yuh woun't know what tuh tink, and here I thoughtcha were a genius." - Harley with her head on Ivy's lap as Marinette starts wheezing.

"I think y'all broke her." - Frank just pointed to Marinette as she was still cackling and wheezing while in the fetal position.

That's when Selina walked in...

"What the hell did you guys do to Kitten?!" - Selina dropping the bags she got from some high end shop, and after they made sure Marinette was still alive they continued their game... and Marinette may have actually written the list of ingredients for that position, but only as a last resort. When it was time for them to sleep Marinette spent the night with her moms, like she use to when she was 4.

She got up early to make sure everything was ready, she had her sketch book in her backpack, as well as some pencils, ear buds, snacks and a picture of her with her family and friends. She decided to wear her new watch and charm bracelet as she finished checking her bag, she then went into the garden to say goodbye to all the plants, and to give Bud, Lou and Frank one last goodbye. She had about 3 hours before her and her Aunt were to head to the airport, and she spent that time with her moms, almost never leaving their side.

As the plane took off she looked out the airplane window, saying goodbye to Gotham, until her next visit home....

For Maribat March Day 21 - Domestic Bliss

The first time Marinette and Garfield ever discussed retirement was before they even started dating. For superheroes, retirement was just a fact of life. One day, if you make it long enough, you'll put down the suit and you'll never pick it up again. Maybe someone will take your place. Hopefully, no one will need to. But no matter how strong you are, not even if you're Superman in his prime, the simple fact was that someday you would retire.

"What do you think you'll do after you retire?" Marinette mused to Garfield. Out of all the Titans, Marinette spent the most time around Gar, simply because the two of them spent a lot of time in the living room. Marinette liked the ambient noise that his video games provided when she worked on her projects, and Gar liked to have someone to talk to while he played. Most of Marinette's current focus was on the embroidery in her hands, as she stitched vines running down the sleeves of her shirt, but she still took the time to start a conversation with Gar.

"I dunno..." Gar glanced up from the game he was playing. "What'll you do once you give up being Ladybug."

"That's a tough question. I used to think that I wanted to run a big fashion company, like Agreste Fashion, but now I think I want something a little more low-key. In my ideal future, I own a little boutique where I make custom clothing. There would be a fabric store and a café on the same block as me, and I would never have to leave the neighborhood."

"That sounds nice. I think I might try going to college and see where that takes me. I applied to Jump City University right before Christmas, and they accepted me. If I went, I would start classes in the fall.”

Marinette’s head jerked up as she gave Gar her full, undivided attention. “I’m going to JCU next fall!” she exclaimed excitedly. “We might have classes together. What are you planning on majoring in?”

Gar shrugged, “JCU has a veterinary program that I'm interested in. I'd be taking animal behavior, biology, chemistry, and a whole bunch of other science classes.”

“That’s so cool!”

“It’s nothing much. I didn’t expect them to accept me, anyway.”

Gar seemed oddly subdued about the idea of going to college. He was a naturally enthusiastic person, which made it very out of character for him to be so dismissive. It worried Marinette. “No, you deserve praise for your accomplishment. Jump City University is a very selective school.”

“I’m not a genius. I’m just me.”

“You’re smart, Gar, I know you are. Getting accepted to JCU is just one of the many reasons why you are brilliant.”

“Are you gonna name them all for me?” joked Gar.

His question was rhetorical, just a joke, but Marinette wasn't finished convincing Gar that he deserved all the praise in the world. “For starters, you can finish any video game in less than a day. Even the ones where you need logic and strategy, you fly right through them. Secondly, you’re a genius when it comes to animals. And it’s not just because of your superpower. You taught yourself animal behavior so that you could blend in with the animals you’re imitating. Thirdly, you pretend not to be invested in politics, but I’ve seen how you keep yourself informed about environmental policies and activism. You really care about the planet. Fourthly-“

"Alright, Buginette,” laughed Gar, a slight blush on his cheeks. “You’ve proven your point.”

Marinette set her embroidery down on the coffee table and moved to Gar's couch. "Is this game multiplayer?"

"Yep. Do you want to play a few rounds?"

"Hmm... I think I could spare a few minutes to kick your butt."

"Please. I'm going to squash you like the little bug you are."

"You wish!"

Written for Maribat March Day 9 - Teen Titans

"We've got five hours until the fair closes. That's five hours of funnel cake, Ferris wheels, and rigged carnival games," announced Dick as they stepped out of the car in the parking lot of the Jump City Fair. It was a tradition for the Teen Titan team to visit the fair every year. At first, it had been an effort to humanize them to the citizens of Jump City, to show that they were more than just superheroes. Now, the reason that the team went every year was simply that it was fun.

"I can't wait to try everything." Marinette had been looking forward to the Jump City Fair all summer. It was her very first American fair, and Gar had promised that he would show her around, giving her the full fair experience.

"C'mon, I smell funnel cake." Gar grabbed Marinette's hand as they ran through the crowds.

Marinette laughed. "I was coming with you, you don't need to pull me along."

Gar let go of her hand and pouted. "We need to get there faster. Just think of all the funnel cake we're missing out on while we're standing around talking."

"We can still hurry. I just don't want to run into anyone." Marinette giggled as she followed Gar through the crowd. He wove in between the crowds of people like an expert, scampering right through the chaos of the fair crowds without disturbing a single person. Marinette found it a little more difficult - she was much less nimble than Gar, but every time she fell behind he waited for her to catch up.

"I followed the smell of funnel cake right to its source and here we are." Gar stopped in front of a food stand proclaiming itself to be All-American Funnel Cake. "This is the best cuisine America has to offer."
