Supported by the Cambridge Social Ventures, it was founded by Inky Gibbens, a sociolinguist and language educator who was born outside of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Her native language, Buryat, is one of the endangered languages she’s trying to save. 

Currently the website offers six languages, Ainu (Indigenous Japanese), Gangte (Sino-Tibetan language spoken in northeast India), Mongolian, Ojibwe (Indigenous North American), Quechua (Incan), and Tulu (South Indian). The online language courses each cost £399 ($498 as of November 2016).
