Tony sat at his desk, mumbling equations and statistics to himself as he stared at the screens in front of him. It had been a decent week, and he'd been back in the lab the past two days. It felt good, to be back here behind this desk, looking at the screens and bickering with JARVIS, nit-picking at the bots. It felt natural.

He ran a hand through his hair, still muttering to himself. He froze, letting out a shuddering breath as he pulled back his hand and looked at the small clump of hair that had come away between his fingers. He stared at it, jaw muscles clenching.
