I like the KH gamerips, (I loveee gamerips in general) but the whole OC edit thing just gets on my nerves. There is no way to edit the KH models into different characters and not have the end result look hideous.
I like Gamerips too, though mostly Sonic gamerips. XD; The KH gamerips are a bit iffy for me, not entirely sure I can explain why. I agree about the OC Edits though. I can understand the desire to make their own characters/KH Style Selfies match the same style as the KH models in MMD pics, but the vast majority seem to be lazy recolors and they really do look terrible. The Kingdom Hearts MMD comm on Deviantart, which is to say the only MMD group for KH I can find there, is chock full of those things.
I was just wondering why no one ever tries to make KH character models from scratch in Blender or something like the people in other fandoms do. The Gamerips are easier to make and there’s nothing really wrong with using them if you want, but models made from scratch can be more flexible, if you know what I mean.
About the KH part of the MMDC
Are there really no model makers among the KH MMDers? I mean all I ever see is game rips or OC Edits of game rips, meanwhile I know at least two Sonic MMDers on Deviantart who made Sonic character models from scratch in Blender instead of ripping and rigging straight from the games.
The only KH MMD model that wasn't a rip I ever found was a glitchy Namine model that got taken down and never put back up again after I told the model maker about the glitch. It's kinda dissapointing. It doesn't even seem like there's a KH fandom in the Japanese MMD community at all, at least not one that puts anything up on NicoNicoDouga. >>
