24/11/2024- The shiny possibilities are endless
Man what a weird day .-. Took forever to make breakfast because guests were late to arrive and late the leave, but the blueberry pancakes were worth it. Doesn’t fill me up for long unfortunately, so I had a ricecake + cheese & ham for lunch (❁´◡`❁)
Been meaning to set up my ‘extra DSs’ for some time now. Basically, many shiny hunts benefit from having extra devices to work with. Although hunting on, say, 5 devices doesn’t actually increase your shiny odds, it CAN make finding a shiny QUICKER. This is really useful for hunts with low shiny odds (Like pre-Gen 6), or hunts with a few, repeatable movements (Like using the rod, headbutting, or soft-reseting for a shiny starter in HGSS).
Unfortunately I don’t have the cash for 5 extra DSs and 5 extra cartridges, but I do have a laptop that’s good enough to load and play a few emulators at once. (Also, using a bluetooth controller like the 8BitDo means you can control several emulators at once). Controversial? Yes.
I have 3 hunts in particular that I’d like to use these extra devices for: Gamecorner Prize shinies, a shiny starter in Soul Silver, and hunting in headbutt trees in Soul Silver. I guess my previous examples made it obvious what I was aiming for. Don’t get me wrong; shiny hunting on my 3DSs whenever and wherever is tons of fun, but I also like overstimulating myself with pretty graphics ╰(°▽°)╯

I decided to start the gamecorner challenge with my set-up ╰(°▽°)╯. And to keep a log while I hunt (without risking my laptop blowing up with the CPU usage in Notion), I'm writing this in notepad and will copy-paste over later. It's 10:07pm rn (omg already??) so I doubt I'll be hunting for much longer. But hey, 16 encounters in one reset, which makes the killer high chances not so bad <3 []~(￣▽￣)~*
Ended on 480 encounters, nice!!
