As a game-day snack, they cannot be beat. Stuffed jalapeños, filled with Cheddar and cream cheese and run through with cilantro, are roasted to sweet intensity in the oven and finished under the broiler or in the dying light of a grill's fire.

Gameday
It was pretty chill. Ended up sitting near my friend Junior E. Kind of connected with a freshman in my section, whom we will call Freshman K, in that way that you do with other people in band. Which is really like you connect with people in general but it seems different because you have this mentality of you are kind of suppose to be part of an unit with these people as opposed to say classmates where you are more like a group of individuals instead of an unit if you're picking up what I'm putting down. I guess I also connected with a saxophone freshman along with a few clarinet freshman as well but that is slightly different because we are part of a bigger unit where as people within your section are part of a smaller unit within this bigger unit although i guess arguably we are all part of the woodwind unit in the band unit.
According to our band director we turnt up on Howard(the school we were playing against).
The cheerleaders on both sides for some reason started on the far end of the field where nobody is. Usually they are close to the end where band is so we can, as the spirit department, can turn up together. Both sides' cheerleaders eventually got to our side though. One thing is that our band is like 100+ thick including the instrumentalists and auxiliary when the cheerleaders are more like 20 or 30 at one time. So due to this at one point enough of the band got way into one of the cheers that our Director of Bands gave us a gesture being like "quiet down, this is the cheerleaders's thing, let them cheer." which is essentially just a mixture of the movement to decrescendo and then pointing towards the cheerleaders.Â
Junior E brought cheez-its and grape gatorade onto the bus. For those who don't know, this particular football field is like a 5 minute trip from our school. We take two turns before we have to "be quiet and get focused" because we are close enough to our destination.

GAMEDAY, BRAH
So it was the first official game of the football season. It was an away game against Wilkerson County. Our team won 42-14 or something which is cool because usually the football team doesn't bring home that W for win.
I ended up being on the end which is cool because I can just step over a little and have all this space to myself. An example being that in one of our stand-tunes we do this choreography where we step to the side then forward then side then forward until we get to the second part of the chant, I ended up being able to go down a step when going forward which is good for making big movements. Also due to this I ended up sitting in a good spot with one of friends since freshman so I am going to call him Junior E because namedropping is snitching and I ain't no snitch. I however had to sit next to the freshman that doesn't know how to act but I don't know how to spell her name so I can't namedrop.
After the half-time show ended and we were going back to the stands and passing by the cheerleaders, our cheerleaders were congratulating us on our performance but the spirit department is tight like that. We then got our water and this bag. The bag was from the other band and it had a bag of chips and a kool-aid jammer/ hi-c so Wilkerson Band and the Mystical Cadence Keepers are the bomb-diggety.
We had spats but when we high-stepped the pant legs went above the spats so what the point of them are other than to look cool i don't know.
To give you an idea how tight the spirit department, cheerleaders and band, are we join in on some of their cheers and clap for them because that would be weird for them to clap for themselves i guess. Then after the game when we play other stand-tunes they do some choreography even though everyone else is pretty much leaving. They also join us when doing the wave, or things like we shout "let's go" multiple times when our team does something good, we have stand cadences, or things like shouting "lets go chargers, let's go".
Junior E and i/me/Junior S/whatever is the correct thing to call myself in this situation, we played video games on the bus ride there because you know long trip.
Next week is a home game against Howard, another school in town, so now the people in town are going to see us instead of going to another county miles away.
