Thanks @beachybryan for confirming what this mystery plant was. Garcinia xanthochymus, the false mangosteen, gamboge, yellow mangosteen, Himalayan Garcinia, or Sour Mangosteen. My labels often weather away and it’s quite challenging to keep a mental note of everything planted, especially when genetic variety and diversity is your goal. Either way, I’m glad to have finally gotten this baby in the ground. This Tree will produce golden yellow berry fruit that are quite tasty, but a bit sour. Perfect for making jam is what I’m thinking 🤔 ・・・ #growninhaiti #garciniaxanthochymus #yellowmangosteen #gamboge #plantedfromseed #fruit #tropicalfruit #exoticfruit #tropical #foodforest #agroforestry #sustainablefoodsystems #diversity #nogmos #nopesticides #noherbicides #growth #transplant #haiti #ayiti https://www.instagram.com/p/CFRuUCXlPVh/?igshid=1cr7am8ld6w76
This series called Gamboge takes the beautiful ancient art and architecture of Cambodia and splashes it with a single colour. The colour is called Gamboge Yellow and is named after this wonderful country. It is said that the colour was inspired by the robes of the monks who walk around this place, and in particular around the temples both old and new.
