For the arguing/make up prompt from an outside opinion!
The Alibi seemed like an alright enough bar, same usual dim lighting, slight haze of smoke, clacking of billiards, and plenty of blue collar workers taking a load off.
You shrug deciding itâs better than the other options nearby, one a loud bar run by Neo Nazis, and one that was full of hipster cocktails like âDecompressed Mojitosâ.
Thereâs a really pretty and well dressed dark skinned woman working the bar alongside a tall white guy with a beard and a chain. They both say hello as you sit shyly to the side where no one else was sitting.
âWelcome to the Alibi, what can I get you?â The woman asks with a smile.
âA bottle of beer is fine thank you.â You reply with a small nervous smile.
âKev will you hand me a bottle please?â She asked holding her hand out to the man.
âVee why not get it yourself? Kevâs busy.â A man with a ballcap down on the other end of the bar says.
âTommy!â The other man next to him hisses giving him a look.
âKermit, women want equal rights to men, that includes getting shit for yourselves.â The other man, Tommy, replied his hands outstretched like he was spouting an eternal truth.
Vee looked at Tommy with an eye roll, âTommy youâre cut off, when you start spouting shit like that itâs time to sober up or get the fuck outta my bar.â she said sliding him a glass of water.
âCâmon Vee I was kidding.â Tommy groaned.
The tall man, Kev smirked and handed Vee a beer bottle, which she placed in front of you with a grin and a wink.
The door to the bar swung open and a dark haired man with a scowl and a bow legged swagger came in and thumped down on the stool next to you being one of the two free chairs left. He was wearing a blue cammo uniform like he was a military personnel.
âKev can I get a shot of jack?â the man said in an angry voice.
Kev grabbed a shot glass and placed it in front of the man who downed it in one gulp, âanother.â He muttered.
Kev gave him a refill as well as a bottle of beer, both of which the dark haired man worked on.
The door swung open again and this time a tall redhead walked in wearing the same cammo as the dark haired man.
âMickey-â the redhead started sitting in the chair on the other side of the dark haired man, Mickey.
âLeave me alone Gallagher.â Mickey muttered through gritted teeth tossing back the new shot he had.
âNo, we have work to do and you sitting here drinking isnât going to get it done.â The redhead, Gallagher, snapped.
Mickey turned on him suddenly, âAnd whose fucking fault is that that we have work to do? You fucking fired Bruno, without even fucking mentioning it to me first.â his hands waving around angrily as he snapped at the other man.
âWhy the fuck would I have to run it by you? Itâs Gallavich Security not Mickey-Milkovich-only-security.â Gallagher huffed.
Mickey turned to the redhead, âRemember what I said when this shit started? You wouldnât be working with me, youâd be working for me, and that still holds true. You had no fucking right to fire Bruno without talkin to me about it first.â He was pointing a finger in Gallagherâs face, and the redhead was looking at it like he was three seconds from biting it off, his nostrils were flaring and his green eyes were glowering.
âGet your fucking dainty girl hands out of my face.â He said smacking Mickeyâs hand away.
Mickeyâs eyebrows raised high on his head, âDainty girl hands?â
Gallagher smirked, âYes, dainty girl hands, surprised you can even jerk off with how small they are, though I shouldnât be surprised since your dick-â
Mickey swung a fist into the Gallagherâs face knocking him back several steps blood gushing from his nose, a cry of pain permeating the air.
Mickey smirked, turning away from Gallagher and grabbing up his glass of Guinness and taking a swig.Â
âHow you like these dainty girl hands now Gallagher? They can still fuck you-â Mickey was cut off by Gallagher wrapping his arms around him and slinging him off of his barstool to the ground with a yell.
You look around alarmed at the other patrons and at Kev and Vee who were just looking bored.
âShouldnât we stop them?â You ask concerned as punches kept getting thrown, landing against the thick material of the cammo uniforms.
Vee laughed as she wiped down some glasses, Kev looked over the top of the bar and looked at the two men rolling around on the floor, Mickey was now sitting on top of Gallagher pinning him to the floor with his knees, One hand was wrapped in the other manâs red hair and pulling him up towards him as he slammed his head into the other.
âGoddammit Mickey!â Gallagher shouted, his voice slightly muffled as he blindly grabbed for the other man, finally resorting to bucking his hips and sliding him off balance enough to topple him off of his chest.Â
Mickeyâs look of surprise would have been amusing if Gallagher didnât immediately grab him and throw him onto the ground landing a punch into his side.
Mickey struggled to reach up at the redhead his his struggles to no avail because now they were about half under a table, the redhead pulling Mickeyâs head up to hit the tableâs underneath with a loud SMACK.
âShouldnât we stop them?â You ask looking from the scene with the two men to Kev and Vee behind the bar.
âNo way, I got fifty bucks on Ian this time.â Tommy interjected.
âYou bet against me? I have fifty on Mickey.â Kermit said with a forlorn expression.
Tommy rolled his eyes as you all turned back to watch the fight.
Mickey groaned falling back to the floor and the redhead flopped to the side breathing heavily.
âDonât you trust my fucking judgement on things by now?â The redhead sighed wearily as he spoke, his face looking sad as he looked at Mickey splayed out on the floor next to him.
âFuck off.â Mickey grumbled starting to sit up rubbing his forehead where he had hit against the table.
The fight seemed to be over, at least physically.
Gallagher stood and then offered Mickey a hand, helping pull him up to his feet.
Mickey stood a moment and then after shooting Gallagher a glare he walked back to the barstool he had been sitting on and climbed back up his hand reaching for his glass and downing the rest of it in one big gulp.
Gallagher, well Ian sighed and stepped over to the barstool next to Mickey, Vee wordlessly tossing a pack of ice to each and a stack of napkins for Ianâs bloody nose.
âThanks.â Ian muttered, grabbing the napkins and wiping at his face.
Mickey waved at Kev for another drink, Kev apparently seeing this song and dance before slid a bottle of beer to each of the two men.
After several beats of silence Ian sighed, âI fired Bruno because I heard him talking shit on the phone to a competitor.â
Mickeyâs brows furrowed and he turned to look at Ian, âThatâs it? Why isnât that something you couldnât tell me? Or at least talk to me about firing him beforehand?â
Ian clenched his jaw, âHe was talking shit about you, and I knew that if we kept him I would end up throwing his body in the river, heâs lucky I just fired him.â A blush crept up on his cheeks.
A realization must have hit Mickey because his lips pulled into a grin, âYou know I can handle people talking shit about me, itâs not anything new.â
Ian turned to Mickey, his eyes searching his face, âIâm not the kind of guy who lets people talk shit about the man he-â
âAlright alright, save the speech you fucking pussy.â Mickeyâs voice was soft and fond as he grinned up at Ian.
âIâve always got your back, even if I donât always tell you why.â Ian murmured placing a hand on Mickeyâs shoulder.
The look they gave each other was so tender it felt like a private moment that shouldnât be interrupted.
But Ianâs phone rang loudly in his front pocket, he grimaced and answered it, âGallavich Security,â Mickey tossed a couple bills on the counter and clapped a hand on Ianâs shoulder leading him out of the bar as he continued to speak on the phone.
A look around the bar said that no one else found this exchange unusual.
âAre they okay to go off with each other after fighting like that? Shouldnât we call the police or something?â You ask aiming the question at no one in particular as you look around the bar.
Everyone bursts into laughter, then Vee goes to doll out money to Kermit and Tommy. Kev came over realizing the confusion you were feeling.
âThey do that shit every once in awhile, both of em are hot heads. But I doubt you wanna see them making up, last time Vee had to hose them down with the seltzer hose.â Kev shuddered.
Your eyes widened and then Kev laughed, âI mean what can you expect from a married couple from the Southside?â
Surprise then realization dawned on you and you shook your head taking a sip out of your bottle.
Even with the little show, the Alibi seemed like an alright enough bar.
