We are thrilled to announce that MTA Arts & Design was awarded the Gold Medal in Transportation by Digital Signage Expo ‪#‎DSE2016‬ for artist Gabriel Barcia-Colombo's digital artwork 'New York Minute', which was installed on the 52 big screens at ‪#‎FultonCenter‬ in 2015. Congratulations to ‪#‎GabeBC‬, ‪#‎ANC‬, ‪#‎Westfield‬, and our team at ‪#‎MTAArts‬ for this collaboration! Have you visited the new Fulton Center Complex yet? Along with the incredible "SkyReflector-Net" by James Carpenter, Grimshaw and Arup, we debuted our inaugural Digital Arts program yesterday! Video artist Gabriel Barcia-Colombo created New York Minute, a video art installation which highlights the comical and sometimes poignant interactions of everyday New Yorkers doing everyday things in super-slow motion. The artwork is displayed on fifty-two individual screens in the new Fulton Center and will be on view through Spring 2015.

"For Those Who Wait" is an interactive video sculpture about the physicality of time. 10 video projected clocks hang motionless in a room. As the viewer winds up a crank the clocks come to life, their hands spinning out of control until they self destruct in a variety of animations.

Tube - A 1964 RCA television installation which illustrates the changing nature of TV from analog to digital medium. Today we consume television as a fluid medium. It exists in the air, on the internet and outside of the constraints of a linear traditional time based medium. "Tube" questions what this sort of time space displacement would do to an on screen character. The tiny figure, once living on screen is now presented as a video projection standing on top of the television, removed from the action and residing in the real world. The well-known linear cinematic narrative space has been displaced in this installation and all that's left on screen is the static remnants of the analog age.
