G3M2 “Nell”

Five Type 96 Land Attack Bombers (from Chitose Air Group) attacked the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (dropping 12 × 250kg bombs and 36 × 60kg bombs).

One aircraft (piloted by Captain Kazuo Nakai), which was hit by F4F interceptors, attempted to ram the carrier but severed the tail of one SBD, then crashed into the sea.
