Moving On - Task // 002.
As Natalie follows along while being led to her table, she can’t decide whether she’s the more or less fortunate one as she notices that the one she’s being led to had two empty chairs. She had arrived first, and now she had an unknown stretch of time to ponder whether or not this had been a ridiculous choice for how to spend a Friday night. Looking around the restaurant she caught a glimpse of her ex boyfriend on a date with the girl he had left her for. Her eyes roll upwards but she was determined not to let it ruin he night. Thanking the waiter for showing her to her seat, she orders a water to start her evening. If her date stands her up then she can always order something stronger to get her exes image and the thought of rejection out of her system. "Why did I agree to this blind date? I'm not desperate. I'm a beautiful woman that anyone would be lucky to be seen with." She was trying to convince herself she was worthy to find love again but it wasn't working.
The waitress comes back with her water and Natalie swear the look she gave her was one of pity as she asked if she had decided what she wanted to eat. "I'll have the Chicken Parmesan with a side salad and a glass of wine." The waitress wrote it all down and then headed to put in her order. She felt her excitement starting to ebb away and be replaced by nerves. She had overthought the date and came dressed with a mild makeup instead of the dark goth style of her wrestling persona. Would he even be attracted to her? "This was a bad idea. I should tell her to let me get it to go when she comes back."
"I would hope not. I"m sorry that I kept you waiting. I hope it wasn't too long but I got caught up in traffic. He says as he slips into the seat across from her. I'm Garrett and I know this is a terrible first impression. Sorry for rambling like some idiot." Natalie was about to tell him that he was too late and she was going home but she saw her ex staring at her smugly and decided instead to show him that she was over him and make herself have a good time. "You're fine. I ordered already and was going to tell the waitress to make it to go but why don't we get yours to go and you can join me at my place for dinner and desert." A smile appeared on her dates face and she turned to her ex giving him a smile and a wink. Tonight was going to be a good night if it killed her.
