Summary: The group of longtime friends end up at the bar turned diner they met Riley all those years ago. A couple surprises happen where they eventually end up at Club Kismet. Turns out the wives aren’t the only ones who find their husbands attractive.
Collab series with @alj4890!
Sally Winifred enjoys her job as a waitress. The busyness of the diner in addition to serving customers for the past fifteen years has helped build a rapport with people near and far. It was easy work and easier money. Being paid to talk to people from all walks of life and occasionally serving food was almost too good to be true for the 50 year old former stay at home mom.
Tonight’s late night guests have the whole diner to themselves, typical of a Friday night in the city that never sleeps. From the way they were dressed, she knew they all came from wealth and weren’t from around here from the accents she heard.
“Waitress?,” the jovial one of the group called out to her. Sally quickly made her way to the table with an easy smile.
“What can I do for you?”
“You wouldn’t happen to have an extra apron laying around, would you?”
“You’re serious Maxwell?,” a woman with jet black hair asked incredulously to the one who had summoned her services. Sally gives a curious look to the one named Maxwell and nods her head. Being a waiter for so long, she is used to odd requests.
“I sure do. Why?”
Maxwell’s mouth turns into a wide grin that spreads across his face. “Can we have it for several minutes? We’re trying to do something here. We will return it once we are done of course.”
Before Sally answers him, the less than enthusiastic man with a surprising American accent interrupts. “I need a drink. And food if we’re going to do this,” he looks to Sally with hope in his eyes as she nods her understanding. Taking her notepad out, she writes down his order before returning to the kitchen.
While the waitress is gone, the rest of the group try to deter Maxwell from his plans.
“I don’t even remember what happened last week let alone what, 20..25 years ago?,” Drake scoffs While shaking his head.
“Where is that waitress with the apron?,” Olivia’s has been mostly quiet for the night but seems to show excitement at the idea of Riley in a serving outfit again.
“While we wait for her, I think we should all get into position,” at Maxwell’s words, collective groans are heard throughout the diner, “do you want to get this right or not?!”
He directs Hana, Rashad, Olivia and Amanda into a different nearby booth. While he, Liam and Drake remain seated in their places. Sally finally reappears with the apron in hand, confused at the sight of the changes that were made.
“Perfect. Here,” Maxwell throws the white, stained apron over to Riley who begins to fasten it behind her back.
“This is so exciting!,” Hana gleefully watches at the set-up of the night her best friend met Liam. Rashad gives her a small smile, always amazed at the simple things that made his wife happy. He is usually able to share in these small moments with her but reliving how two of their close friends met isn’t exactly how he envisioned their last night in New York
“This excites you?,” Olivia’s mouth agape with incredulity.
“Very much,” Hana answers eagerly.
“Oh then just wait until Riley wipes down the tables!”
Amanda chuckles lightly at Olivia’s teasing. She sees the look of excitement on Maxwell’s face and tries her best to be supportive but like Rashad, had different plans for the night.
“And then Hana,” Olivia continues, “when Riley brings us the check, it’s going to blow your mind!”
“I know! We get to tip her!,” Hana nods her head with enthusiasm as she claps her hands together. Olivia stares at her dumbfounded as Amanda bursts out in laughter. Rashad shakes his head in amusement as he too laughs at Olivia’s sarcasm failing Hana.
“Wait, no. I don’t think Liam was sitting with us when Riley came to take our orders,” Maxwell notices as he looks between Liam and Drake.
“Are we ready?,” Riley calls over several feet away on the other side of the diner. No one can hear her as she sees one group play musical chairs and the other group looked to be in a interesting conversation with their backs turned.
“You went to pay our check and then you met her, right?,” Maxwell’s brows furrow with concentration as he tries to recall that fateful night.
“No. I was the last one to walk through the doors. You all met her first because she was greeting you, her back was to me when I came in,” Liam says in a reflective tone. He has committed to memory most of their moments together. Meeting Riley for the first time is a scene that has replayed in his mind a million times over and still found himself smitten with that same waitress all those years ago.
“No. That doesn’t sound right,” Maxwell shakes his head in disagreement. He looks at Drake who is scarfing down the burger Sally dropped off to their table several seconds ago.
“Drake is that what you ordered that night?”
“No.”
“Well what did you order?”
“Don’t know. Don’t care,” he says matter of factly before taking another bite into his burger. Liam chuckles at Drake’s antics before addressing Maxwell in his frustrated state.
“We don’t have to do this-,” Liam begins.
“No, we do not,” Drake interjects.
“It’s enough that all of us are together-,”
“Is it though?,” Drake continues to interrupt Liam as he keeps his concentration on the burger in front of him. Maxwell glares at him in response before a small grin tugs at the side of his mouth.
“Enjoying that burger, Drake?”
He lifts his burger to salute him in response before taking another bite. “It’s really good. Tastes kind of different from other burgers I’ve had. Can’t put my finger on the taste but I like it.”
“Hey Sally!,” Maxwell calls out to their waitress who is beside them within seconds.
“What can I do for you?”
“My friend here,” Maxwell pulls an annoyed Drake close to him as he puts his arm around his shoulder, “was just commenting about your burger here. We’d love to have the recipe so we can try it once we get home. Would you mind telling us what is in this burger?”
A wide smile crosses the older woman’s face as she answers, “Well of course! We’re famous for it. The meat is actually frog meat. We-,” her words cut off as Drake loudly spits out the bite he just took from the burger. The others nearby look on with amusement as Maxwell laughs out loud while Drake pushes away from him.
“I’m done with this place. Let’s go,” Drake says before exiting the doors. Maxwell is still laughing as Amanda approaches him before he pulls her close before they both follow him out.
“Smile!,” Olivia calls out to Riley before she takes a picture of her in the unflattering white stained apron. She reviews the picture and chuckles at the image while she makes her way out of the diner.
“Aw, we didn’t get to tip Riley,” Hana tells her husband as they exit the booth. Rashad laughs lightly at her comment while bringing her hand up to his lips as he places a tender kiss on her palm.
“We can tip the actual waitress my love,” Rashad tells her. Hana’s eyes widen with excitement as she searches for cash in her clutch. Before Rashad can stop her, Hana hands over a few $50 dollar bills.
“Thank you for your service tonight! I think this’ll cover the bill plus your tip!”
Sally tries to give back the extra $50 bills since the final check was only $15.50 but Rashad and Hana are already out the door. She begins to clean up the half eaten frog burger and other uneaten food, leaving Liam and Riley alone in the diner.
Riley turns her back as she begins to untie the apron when Liam’s voice stops her from behind.
“Sorry I’m late. Thank you for your patience, Miss…?,” his words bring a smile to Riley’s face as she turns to face him.
“Uhm, Riley,” she replies with a small chuckle.
“Charmed to make your acquaintance, Riley,” Liam takes her hand and places a soft kiss on her fingers.
“Hm. I don’t think you kissed me that night...not this early anyway,” she tells him as she quickly withdraws her hand from his. Liam lets out a soft laugh as he nods his head in agreement.
“You’re right. I’m getting ahead of myself. But can you blame me?,” he moves closer to her, “all those years ago. With everything that kept us apart, every moment with you is a gift,” he tells her as he places a kiss on her lips.
“You’re a smooth talker you know that King Liam?,” Riley playfully slaps his chest as he pulls her into his arms.
“That...that’s why you looked familiar!,” Sally’s now high pitched shriek interrupts them as they look in the direction of her voice. The usual kept waitress is now staring wide-eyed at the couple in front of her as a look of panic overcomes her. She runs to find the remote to the television set in the diner and changes the channel to the local news.
“And in other news today, we have royalty in the Big Apple today!,” the shot of the news anchor changes to a video of Liam and Riley stepping out of the limousine earlier that evening as they made their way to have dinner with the Mayor of New York. “Cordonia’s King Liam and his wife Queen Riley were seen today having dinner with Mayor de Blasio. The spokesperson from the Mayor’s office confirmed that this dinner was a symbol of friendship between the small country and the U.S.”
The anchorwoman continues to talk as Sally approaches the couple. Liam releases his hold on Riley as he goes to shake Sally’s trembling hand.
“Good evening Sally. I don’t think I properly introduced myself, I am Liam and this is my wife Riley,” she approaches the two of them as she too shakes Sally’s hand, “and we’re visiting your lovely city.”
“Nice to meet you Sally,” Riley says with a smile. Sally stands in shock as the couple converses with her like any other person she has come across in the diner. She didn’t think people of royalty did anything like this but found herself completely charmed by their laidback attitude.
“I apologize for our friend’s antics tonight,” Liam lets out a soft chuckle.
“It’s--It’s no trouble...really. I’ve had worse,” Sally was surprised that her mouth was able to form words. Riley laughs out loud as she nods her head in agreement.
“I know what you mean,” she flashes a wink at Sally who looks between her and Liam, completely stunned that this was happening to someone ordinary like her.
“My friend thought it’d be fun to uh, relive the night I met my wife you see,” Liam begins to tell her.
“Wait. You met here?!,” Sally tries to clear her throat, noticing the high-pitched tone come out of her mouth. She looks to Riley who nods her head.
“Yes. I was their waitress,” she says with pride, “the night he and his friends came in.”
“You? A waitress?,” Sally looks over Riley’s expensive clothing and jewelry, specifically the glistening oversized ring on her left hand.
“It was when this place was still a bar.”
Sally nods her head in understanding. She had only known this place as the diner, the bar was long forgotten when she came to work here.
After a few minutes of friendly chatter between the three, another large group of people walked through the doors of the diner signaling reality to Sally.
“We’ll get out of your way now,” Liam says as he notices the new throng of customers come through. “It was a pleasure meeting you tonight Sally,” he says as he takes her hand once more and gently kisses the back of her hand. Riley moves to give a small hug to the older woman before whispering into her ear.
“You’re a wonderful waitress Sally. Don’t you forget it,” she tells her before releasing her hold.
As Liam and Riley leave the diner, the older woman stands in awe as she watches the handsome couple climb into the waiting car.
Her husband and children are not going to believe this, Sally thought to herself.
“Where to next, Maxwell?,” Riley asks as she settles into the limousine.
“Cluuuuub Kisssmet!”
Amanda lets out a whoop, relieved they didn’t have to continue the reenactment of an event she wasn’t a participant in.
“Isn’t that the club we went to after the bar?,” Liam asks.
“It sure is!”
Amanda’s face falls as she realizes her husband is still trying to relive that night so many years ago. Oh well, she thought to herself, at least there’s dancing this time. Like Maxwell, she too shares a love for dancing. A trait that has passed onto their two daughters.
“I didn’t know you went to a club after meeting?,” Hana asks with a shocked expression as she looks to the couple. Riley lets out a giggle as she nods her head in response.
“The guys wanted to go to the club and Liam insisted on buying me a drink to makeup for the crazy group I had to wait on.”
“If bringing us four deluxe burgers and a bottle of whiskey is considered crazy then…,” Drake shakes his head in response. Maxwell’s eyes widen with realization as he points an accusing finger at him.
“You do remember! I knew it!”
“How can you not? Liam talked about that night throughout the entire social season. I can tell that story in my sleep.”
“But don’t,” Olivia shoots him a warning look before settling into his side. Drake chuckles at her reply before moving his arm around her shoulder.
The rest of the car ride is spent sightseeing through the tinted windows of the car as they await the next stop for the night.
After easily bypassing the bouncers at the entrance and a security escort into the VIP lounge of the club, the group of longtime friends settle into their seats next to their spouses as they survey the room.
“I need to freshen up. Any of you ladies want to join me?,” Riley asks the rest of the group. Amanda and Hana stand without an answer leaving only Olivia out.
“A Nevrakis stays ready. Whether it's on the battlefield or a night out,” she informs them. Amanda rolls her eyes as she steps forward and pulls Olivia out of her seat.
“Yes but a Walker isn’t so lucky. Let’s go ‘Liv,” Amanda’s quick comeback brings laughter from all members of the group except for Drake who scowls at her in response.
As soon as the women leave the lounge, a waitress brings over a tray of drinks.
“Compliments of those ladies,” she points to a group of four women sitting at the bar who lift their own champagne glasses to the men.
“Do we...drink them?,” Maxwella asks as he briefly looks to the blonde at the bar who was eyeing him for some time now. Rashad stands and waves to the group of women while mouthing the words ‘thank you’. He shows them his right hand, wiggling his ring finger that holds his wedding band. Liam looks back at the hurt faces of the group of women before raising his own hand to show off his wedding band.
“Why is your hand up?,” Riley asks as she and the rest of the women return from the restroom. Maxwell explains the drinks that were brought to them by the women at the bar.
Amanda quickly looks back at the particular blonde who is still eyeing Maxwell. Pretty young thing, she thought to herself. With the blonde’s eyes locked on her and Maxwell, Amanda takes his face into her hands and places her tongue on his jawline and licks her way up to his forehead. Her eyes never leaving the pretty blonde.
“Really Amanda? In front of people with eyes?,” Drake asks in disgust. She glares at him before leading Maxwell out of the lounge.
“Where are they going?,” Hana asks before Rashad spots the couple on the floor below. “Oh, Shahzy! Let’s go dance, too!” She excitedly pulls his hand as they make their way from the lounge to the dancefloor.
Drake looks out at the floor below him before a particular woman begins to wave in his direction. He recognizes her as one of the ladies from the bar earlier and gives a small nod in acknowledgement. She beckons to him as she begins to dance seductively to the music playing over the speakers. When the woman looks up to the lounge again, only Olivia is standing there, sipping on the drink that was meant for Drake. Olivia lifts a brow in response and raises a toast to the woman before downing the rest of the drink.
“Let’s go Walker,” Olivia tells him before pulling him out the door of the lounge. She knows Drake is attractive even with the gray hair beginning to set in. Despite their constant bickering and squabble, they are in love. She knows no one else is able to keep up with her the way he does and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She doesn’t say it out loud often but she is happily married to the grumpy commoner.
“Where are we going?,” Drake asks her as she continues to lead him down the stairs, away from the lounge. Olivia doesn’t answer as she leads him onto the dance floor. She places his arms around her waist as she pulls him close with her own arms around his neck. Drake is silent as he knows this has become her safe place over the years, in his arms. Despite the fast moving song they slow dance in the middle of the floor.
“If you wanted to dance you could’ve just told me you know,” he teases as he whispers into her ear. A light scoff escapes her mouth as she shakes her head. She nestles her head into the crane of his neck as they continue to move slowly. “You know I love you, right ‘Liv?” She nods her head in reply as she tightens her hold around him.
“Come on. Let’s go to the car. We can uh...relive our own past memories from when we dated,” he tells her as he begins to pull her towards the exit.
In the lounge room, Riley rests her head on Liam’s shoulder as he pulls her close. Despite the blaring music below them, it’s quiet in the sound-proof room.
“So, Bachelor Party? Congratulations!,” Riley says as she lifts her head from his shoulder. Liam gives her a puzzled look before he makes the connection. Chuckling, he completes the other end of the conversation.
“If you knew the whole story, you probably wouldn’t congratulate me.”
“And why not?”
“I actually don’t know who I’m marrying. I just know I have to pick my fiancee...by the end of the year.”
Riley dramatically lets out a gasp as she brings a hand over her mouth making Liam laugh as he shakes his head. “And why don’t you know who you’re marrying may I ask?”
“The truth is Riley...I’m,” Liam stares at the ceiling above, “thecrownedprinceofCordonia,” he says quickly with a bore. She laughs at his reply before continuing the conversation they had that first night they met.
“Prince, huh? Well...this doesn’t change anything,” she tells him as she stands in front of him. Liam anxiously watches her as she begins to take off the light jacket she has on. “You’re still the same guy I met earlier this evening,” she straddles him making Liam speechless. “Caring,” she kisses his lips, “thoughtful,” and another kiss on his jawline, “sexy,” she places another kiss on his neck his time rendering Liam useless at her touch. Riley waits for him to finish the other end of the conversation but it doesn’t come.
“It’s your line Liam,” she giggles.
“Mmmm,” he finally responds as he begins to move his hands up her thighs. She gives into his touch as their lips meet each other with a fervent passion when they hear a shriek come from below them on the dancefloor.
Riley looks down and sees the commotion around a large group of young adults, one with striking blonde hair and another with the signature fiery-red hair. She quickly stands from Liam’s lap as soon as she realizes who the members of the group belong to. Riley follows the shocked look of Nicky and Amanda Beaumont across the room to Maxwell who has Amanda’s leg wrapped around him as they move to the music.
“We’re at the same club as our adult children Liam. What does that say about us?,” Riley looks back at her husband with a sore expression.
Before Liam can answer he notices a couple of paparazzi’s in the crowd who point up at him before they make their way up to the lounge.
“We need to get out of here,” he tells Riley as he takes her hand and leads her out of the room and eventually out of the club, barely escaping the flashes of the cameras.

It had been a very long day filled with long winded people and not enough time with the one he really wanted to be with. Such was the life he was born to. He normally didn't mind, but things were changing or had changed. He wasn't really sure anymore about anything.
The palace was still at this time of night or rather early morning now that he saw it was a little after 2 am. He felt restless. He changed into some jeans and pulled a hoodie over his t-shirt and sneaked out. If he couldn't be with her, he might as well go to their spot. He walked the rain drenched streets and finally came to the right place.
A couple of years ago
"Here it is! This will be the place we come to for the rest of our lives." Emily announced as she plopped down on the bench.
Ellis stood there shaking his head in disbelief. "Why? Why would we come to a bench?"
She rolled her eyes. "Are we not best friends?"
"Yes."
"And do we not share everything with each other?" She asked.
"Well, I wouldn't say everything." He muttered.
She gasped dramatically. "What have you been hiding from me?"
He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Look Em, I haven't told you everything that I do with Zoey. That seems a little much. Have you told me everything you do with Seb? What about when you were with Chris?"
Emily narrowed her eyes. "I...anyway, this will be our spot where we come to talk about all the things that is going on in our lives. When we are old and gray, we will come here and compare pictures of each other's grandkids. Newsflash: mine will be incredibly awesome. We will sit and complain about the people we married then grin and say how wonderful they really are. But...for now this is our spot to share our dating highs and lows, and of course our dreams." She smiled and patted the seat next to her.
He grinned and sprawled out beside her. "Alright. I'm in crazy lady."
Back to the present
It had been their spot. Sometimes they would meet multiple times a week to talk. Emily said this was better than talking on the phone because she liked seeing the expressions he made. How else was she to know how much he hated Zoey's lasagna if she couldn't see the disgust? How would he know how much Seb drove her crazy when he went on one of his music genre binges if he couldn't count the number of times she rolled her eyes?
Then there was the time she was away for months traveling with the Russian ballet. He had not realized how used to her he had become until he couldn't see her. So she told him to video chat on the bench with her. It was nice but not the same as having her playfully push him when he said something truly eye rolling worthy. He was her hopeless romantic friend, she said, thus he needed a shove every now and then to keep him grounded.
Then something happened. One night they seemed to see each other differently. Or at least he had. And what did he do? Nothing. For weeks, all he did was think. Now, he had come out to stare at a wet bench. He shoved his hands in the pocket of his hoodie and turned to head back to the palace. His mother would flip out if she knew he had pulled an Uncle Leo and left without a guard.
As he took a few steps away from the bench, he collided with someone. He couldn't get his hands out fast enough to steady her and she fell into a puddle.
"Well, this was not where I really intended to sit." Said a voice filled with bubbly laughter.
"Oh Emily, I'm sorry." He reached down and took her hands to help her up. She twisted around to look at her wet rear and laughed some more. "I don't suppose you have a towel of some sort on you? An extra pair of pants?" Her eyes were filled with mischief causing him to chuckle. He pulled his sweatshirt off and handed it to her with a dramatic bow.
"For you, my lady. Take this meager rag to rest your weary...bottom." They both burst out laughing as she curtsied. "You are far too kind, my prince." She went to their bench and sat down, pulling the hoddie over her head. She patted the wet wood next to her. "Sit with me for a while."
He sat down and crossed his arms against the damp cold. When she noticed his chill bumps she scooted closer and pulled his arms around her. Emily leaned her head against his chest and snuggled against him. "It's only right to share body heat."
He nodded, grateful that she had. His t-shirt was useless tonight. Emily propped her chin against his chest and looked up at him. "Ellis, what's wrong?"
He debated on what to tell her. How could he explain it? He thought he had romance all figured out. Zoey had seemed perfect. Then it hit him that she wasn't perfect for him. His heart recognized someone else. Someone he had known since her birth. His father had explained how he had felt a spark when he met his mother. He said it was unlike anything he had felt for anyone else.
Ellis' spark felt like a lightning bolt straight from Zeus himself. Emily poked him in the ribs when he remained silent. He looked down at her and fought the grin that always bloomed when she was near. She made it impossible for anyone to be gloomy for long. He was more susceptible than others. One laughing glance from her and he was smiling like a fool.
"Talk to me, your highness." She whispered.
"I don't know what to say." He whispered back.
Emily chewed on her bottom lip. He had acted different the last few weeks and it worried her. She didn't want to lose the relationship they had. She loved spending time with him. She could be herself without worry. She knew that eventually they would meet and marry the ones they were destined to be with and that their time together would be greatly reduced.
But until that came about, she would selfishly hoard all the memories she could make with him. "Is it about breaking up with Zoey?" She asked, involuntarily tightening her arms around him, hoping he wasn't hurting.
"No."
"Have you met someone else?"
"Not exactly."
Emily studied his face in the dim light of the nearby streetlight. "Have you fallen for someone you already know?"
"Yes."
Emily felt her heart race. They knew the same people. She didn't know how she would react if it ended up being one of their other best friends. She felt jealousy churn in her stomach thinking of it being Jules or Izzy. And she believed they were two of the best ladies on the planet!
She met his eyes, waiting on him to admit who he had fallen for. With one hand, he gently pushed the hood back off her head and ran his fingers through her hair. He seemed in awe of its silkiness as his eyes traced her features pausing at her lips.
As if they were under some spell, they both moved closer and their lips met. His hand cradled her head while the other grabbed the material of the hoodie. Her arms slipped up his chest to wrap around his neck. It was a kiss that took every thought away save one: this moment was perfect.
A few years later
"Now we can talk." Emily said as they stood in front of their bench.
Snow fell in fluffy flakes around them. Ellis shook his head, laughing at being brought here.
"Alright my princess, what is it we need to discuss?" Ellis cuddled her in his arms, placing kisses across her face. She giggled and tried to remain serious. "I have to talk about the man I married."
Ellis sighed. "What did he do this time?"
Emily grinned. "You won't believe how happy he makes me. It is criminal how often I am found smiling and laughing. And wow, is he cute. I wish you could see him. What am I to do?"
Ellis frowned playfully. "That's nothing compared to what I have to deal with. My wife does nothing but make me lose all track of thought. The smell of her perfume nearly made me walk into a wall as I looked for her the other day. The goofy grin on my face has been commented by more than one in the news. I'm not sure if it is a good thing or not that she is so incredibly beautiful. What am I to do?"
Emily stood on her tiptoes as she kissed him. "I think you should love me forever."

"Wow, it must be love." Emily Beaumont watched her older sister pack the oversized backpack. "I can't believe you are really going to do this."
Nicky shrugged. "Jax loves it and really wants me to try it. Since I care about him, it won't hurt me to give it a shot."
Emily snorted. "Beaumonts don't do camping."
Nicky rolled her eyes. "Now you sound like Mom."
"Hey! Mums is the best! You can't say that we don't typically share the same opinion."
Nicky shoved in a few more clothes. "I know she is and I know we do." She looked up at her sister and grinned. "Guard your heart, Em. One day you will fall head over heels for someone and will be doing things you swore you would never do."
Emily's eyes twinkled with mischief. "I think I will know he is not my true love if he asks me to rough it for the weekend." The sisters both burst into laughter.
Maxwell knocked on the open bedroom door. His grin dimpled even more at seeing his girls laughing. "Jackson's here, Nicky."
She slung her backpack over her shoulders and staggered backwards from the weight. Emily reached out and steadied her. "Whoa. Probably shouldn't have packed so much."
She walked downstairs and her heart fluttered at seeing Jackson. He looked so ruggedly handsome in his jeans and his flannel shirt. His eyes lifted up at her and he smiled. When she got to the bottom of the stairs he took her backpack from her.
"Ready?" He asked. She nodded and hugged her parents and sister goodbye. Jackson promised to keep her safe and that they would see them on Sunday.
Once they were in his jeep, she relaxed and decided to give this a fair chance. This was the first time they would be able to be completely alone on a vacation. She would have preferred a hotel room and exciting nightlife, yet she wanted to see what Jackson loved so much about camping.
Jax reached for her hand while he drove. He glanced over at her and grinned. He couldn't believe she agreed to this. Since they had made their relationship official at Christmas, he had wanted to get away from their friends and family and it be a time for just the two of them. His father had once said that to really know someone, you should travel with them and see how they handle things.
They had traveled together with their families and the court since they were infants. This would be a whole new experience. He pressed a kiss to her hand. "Excited?"
"I think so." She pulled her hair back into a ponytail. "I think what I am most excited about is a chance to be alone with you without interruption."
She bit her lip when his heated gaze moved over her. "Funny. That was what I was thinking."
After a few hours of driving, they arrived at the spot to begin the hike. He pulled their bags out and helped her with her backpack. While straightening the straps he pulled her into a deep kiss. She smiled against his lips. When they broke apart he kept his forehead against hers, simply enjoying holding her close.
"Are we actually going to hike or are we going to stay here?" She slid her arms up his chest to end up looped around his neck. "I won't complain if we stay here and continue this." She stood on her tiptoes to kiss him again. After a few moments, they broke apart.
"Tempting, but I have a spot that I've picked just for you." He laced his fingers with hers and led her down the trail. His dry humor had her laughing and distracted from the long hike. He thought this might be the most fun he had ever had walking in nature.
Nicky gasped when he led her to an opening looking out over the ocean. "Oh Jax! This is beautiful!" He grinned and pulled out the tent.
"I thought my girl might like it." He assembled the tent with ease, grinning at her compliments. "Ready to make it comfortable?"
She nodded and unrolled her sleeping bag. Her cheeks colored at the thought of sleeping next to him. They had never done so before. What if he snored? What if she snored? Or worse...what if one of them talked in their sleep and said something embarrassing. She would never be able to look him in the eye again. He slid in next to her and saw the panic in her eyes.
"Uh, Nicky...you okay?"
"Yep. Great." He cocked his eyebrow at her and waited. She stared down at their sleeping bags. "I don't suppose there are two tents we can use."
"No. Just the one. Why?"
"No reason." She said quickly while scrambling out of the tent that seemed to shrink when he entered. He frowned as he watched her take off to sit by the cliff.
He started a fire and joined her to watch the sun set. He wrapped his arms around her and placed her in his lap. He nuzzled her neck and felt contentment wash over him as he smelled her jasmine lotion. He felt her relax in his embrace and held her closer.
"Do you want to go for a walk along the beach?" She asked.
"We can tomorrow. I think we ought to eat and turn in early." She stiffened in his arms. He let out a groan. "Would you please tell me what's wrong?"
She plucked some grass and fiddled with it. "Sleeping with you."
Her words hit like a punch to the gut. "What?"
"It is going to be awkward if we talk or make noise." She replied, not meeting his eyes. "I really hope it doesn't happen."
Did she not find him attractive at all? He had not planned on their first time together happening this weekend. Their relationship was still so new. But he desired her with an intensity that grew stronger every day. To hear that she didn't feel the same cut deep. Should they break up? If she wasn't physically attracted to him, why bother dating?
She glanced at his face and saw the shock and raw pain. Oh no, she thought. He must be a snorer and I have hurt his feelings. "Jax, it's okay. I won't tease you or complain if you snore or talk."
Snore? Why would he snore during..."Nicky? What are you talking about?"
"I'm worried I will snore or talk in my sleep. I've been told that I sometimes talk but thankfully do not snore. But with all this fresh air, anything is possible." She glared at him when he started laughing. "I'm being serious!" She shoved out of his lap and stood before him with hands on her hips. "Jackson Walker! I am sharing a legitimate concern here."
He hopped up and kissed her. "I don't care if you sing in your sleep and snore in between songs. I only want you beside me."
Her anger faded away by his words and the tender way he looked at her. His hands cupped her face. His thumbs smoothed her soft skin. "I bet you are beautiful when you are asleep." He said softly.
"Jax..." She could feel herself melting against him. He took her hands and tugged her over to the fire. "Come on. Let's eat."
By the time they got to the smores, the stars were out. He grabbed a blanket and wrapped the two of them up as they sat in companionable silence. He could get used to this. Holding her might be his new favorite activity. When she yawned, he pulled her into the tent and unzipped the sleeping bags.
A flirty smile appeared on his lips. "You know," he looked up at her, "these sleeping bags can be attatched to make one big one."
She met his eyes and blushed. "Really? You learn something new everyday."
"Shall we?" He held the ends up.
She chewed on her lower lip. "Why not? We do need to be close for warmth."
"I couldn't agree more." His voice was gravelly while his eyes traveled down what would be his heat source this weekend.
Jackson realized his father was right. During their weekend away, he saw Nicky in a whole new light. He saw her gentle humor and patience make a leaky tent during a sudden downpour fun. She was up for trying any of the new experiences he suggested, usually resulting in private jokes they would share for years to come. Nicky's sunny outlook changed the way he saw things that he had seen thousands of time before. He thought he was already pretty crazy about her to begin with. This weekend made him fall even more for her.
She also saw him differently. He had always been attentive to her, yet his entire focus was on making this weekend unforgettable. She saw his silly romantic side when he knocked on the tent. He presented her with silk roses and asked if he could take her on a date. The date consisted of roasted hotdogs and a walk on the beach. He kept her warm during their walk with kisses and his arms wrapped around her. She loved every moment of it. As they snuggled in the tent at night, he would whisper how much she meant to him and how crazy he was about her. Her own heart was overflowing with her feelings for him. She knew it wouldn't be long before they confessed they were in love.
Sunday came much too soon. He stood with her outside in her driveway, reluctant to return to their normal lives. He slid a hand into her hair while pulling her hips close. He kissed her tenderly goodbye. "Thank you for this weekend." He mummered against her lips.
"I'm glad we did this." She whispered.
He grinned. "How about we plan on taking another trip? Maybe a week long one." He chuckled when her eyes widened at the thought of camping for that amount of time. "A trip to one of your favorite cities and hotels."
She smiled, excited about going away again. "As long as it's with you, then it sounds like the perfect plan to me."

"I'm going to be Merida! She didn't need a man to save her. Plus she knows how to use a bow!" Juliet said to her best friend, Emily. Olivia was a few feet away and beamed at her little girl's insight.
Emily nodded excitedly. "Yep! I can see it now. You will look amazing! Your red hair flowing as you shoot an arrow at Jackson. Now who should I be? Who are you choosing Nicky?" She pulled on her older sister's hand to get her attention.
Nicky grinned. "Hmm. I was thinking of Sleeping Beauty. Oh! Or maybe Ariel!" She quickly pushed through the racks of dresses."
"But you have brown hair! Shouldn't you pick a princess with brown hair?" Emily asked.
Nicky paused a moment. "Huh. I don't know. I guess I should." She gave the pink dress a longing last glance and tried to find another one.
Juliet walked up and pulled Belle's yellow dress off the rack for her. "You should pick this one."
"Why?" Nicky asked.
"Because you are always with my brother and he is not the nicest. He can be your Beast." Juliet and Emily giggled over the joke as Nicky blushed. Izzy finally arrived with her mother and tried to make a decision.
Emily smiled at her other best friend and encouraged her to be Jasmine. "Your hair is as pretty as hers. And you have eyes like hers too! OH! You have that rug in the game room that looks like the magic carpet too! "
"I love it! You have the best ideas Em!" Izzy hugged the outfit to her chest. She turned to her mother with a pleading look and smiled at Hana's nod.
Emily looked at all the costumes with a frown on her little face. Who else had brown hair? She really wanted Anna's dress. Why couldn't she have red hair like Jules? Emily's only had red highlights. She let out a little sigh and grabbed Rapunzel's.
"But she has blonde hair!" Izzy exclaimed.
Emily shook her head. "Not after Flynn cuts it off. I will be her after that. Now I need a Pascal. MOMMMMY?!"
Amanda quickly came over. "Emily Beaumont! You do not need to shout. What is it?
"Can I PLEASE get a Pascal?" Emily begged dramatically. Amanda chuckled and promised she could.
The girls were ushered into the boutique and given their princess makeovers. Pictures were taken and they received numerous compliments by everyone they encountered.
Riley exclaimed over the girls. "You all look absolutely beautiful!" She turned to her friends. "You are so lucky to have a little girl to dress up. Boys don't have half of this fun stuff." She wouldn't trade her two sons for anything. Yet, part of her would have loved to have one daughter to play dress up with.
Amanda snorted as she read over her receipt of twice the "fun stuff". "Oh yeah. Fun equals expensive, right?"
They stepped out of the castle and found their husbands watching the little boys have a lightsaber battle. The male sides of the family had all been a part of The Jedi Academy the day before. They had each faced off against Darth Vader and had returned victorious. The boys were deep into character as they fought against the evil forces of the Empire.
"Jedi knights! To me!" Emerick called out to his brother and friends as he was attacked by a vilian so heinous, that it was a blessing to the public that he was invisible.
Jackson and Alec ran to his side and fought the Sith Lord. Ellis continued to fight his own evil creature. He was using his jedi robe to distract the enemy as he thrust his lightsaber into its belly. He glanced over at his big brother. "Be there in a minute!" He finshed his battle and jumped in the middle of the melee. The men nodded their approval of the boys' fencing technique.
Maxwell glanced up and saw his daughters. He grinned and pulled out an autograph book. He ran up to them with a surprised expression. "It's REALLY you! Belle! Rapunzel! May I have your autographs please? My girls are not going to believe I met you! Can I get a picture with you too?"
The girls giggled. "Daddy! It's us!" Emily and Nicky exclaimed.
"What?! No! I would have sworn you were the real princesses!" Maxwell said in mock surprise.
Juliet ran to Drake. "Daddy! Look at my new bow!" She notched a foam arrow and shot her brother in the butt. "Bullseye!" She shouted with glee. Drake chuckled as he knelt down and kissed the top of her head. "It's perfect Jules. You look every bit the warrior princess." She quickly kissed his cheek and chased after Jackson, yelling at him to give her arrow back.
Rashad stood before his daughter and held his hand to her. When she placed her small one in his palm, he bowed dramatically and kissed it. "Princess Jasmine! I have heard tales of your grace and beauty, but I see they hardly did you justice. You are the loveliest of them all." Izzy's delighted smile matched her mother's. She hugged him. "Thank you Daddy!"
The boys stared at the girls. Liam nudged his sons. "Don't you have something to say?" He whispered. Ellis ran up to Emily. "I'm supposed to say you look pretty, but what I really want to say is how are we supposed to ride rides if you are in a fancy dress?"
Emily rolled her eyes. "I can still do stuff! Can't I, Nicky?"
Nicky nodded. Jackson and Emerick stared at her in shock. She looked so different in the yellow gown. Her hair was up with a single thick curl draped over her shoulder. She even had on makeup! She stood awkwardly before them, twirling a red rose. Alec grinned at his best friend. "You look just like her, Nicky." He said as he ran off to ask his father about ice cream.
Emerick swallowed. "You really do look like her. Right, Jax?" Jackson colored a little as he pulled his gaze away from her. "I guess so." He mumbled as he swung his lightsaber.
Juliet chose that moment to taunt her brother. "Ha! I told ya Nicky! He is your Beast." Jackson chased after his cackling little sister and tried to hit her with his lightsaber.

For @krsnlove and her request for something with this song 😂
Ho Ho Ho and jingle jingle
Bells are ringing all around
Snowflakes fall and lights adorn
Our very merry Tinsel Town!
"What in the actual hell is that?" Drake searched the house for where that demonic music was coming from.
Olivia held her throbbing head. "Jules."
Drake paused. "How?"
Olivia glared at him "I will give you three guesses."
"Beaumonts!" He shouted.
"Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner." She muttered.
Jackson walked into the room. "I'm either going to break Juliet's speakers or her neck. Which one will end in the least amount of punishment?"
Drake and Olivia glanced at each other. "I will up your allowance if you break her speakers." Drake told his fourteen year old son.
Olivia snorted. "I will double it if you not only break her speakers but delete that song from her playlists."
Jackson grinned. He really had the best parents. He ran down the hallway and up the stairs to his sister's room. He cracked the door open slowly. Jules was known to hide behind her door and attack any who dared to venture in without invitation.
It had been such a peaceful weekend. Jules had spent it away with her best friend, Emily Beaumont, and Jackson had been able to go camping with his parents. Absolute heaven. Now they were reunited with a song that might be causing his brain to bleed out his ears.
This had to be Emily's influence. There is no way that his tough little sister would voluntarily listen to high-pitched singing of cartoon animals. He saw Juliet swaying along with the song while talking on the phone.
"Yes Em, I have it turned up as loud as I can. What? I can't hear you! Either I need to turn mine down or you need to turn yours down!"
Jackson rolled his eyes. Girls were so weird. Well, except for Nicky. She fit perfectly with him, Emerick, and Alec. He grinned as he listened to Jules try and sing along with the song. He really should have recorded this for future blackmailing.
Ho Ho Ho and jingle jingle
Santa sits us on his knee
Christmas gifts lie patiently
Beneath our decorated tree!
Fa ya la ya, la ya la la lee!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah!
It's our time to send a gift
To someone less unfortunate!
Juliet looked in her mirror and saw the familiar brown headed figure sneaking into her room. Her eyes narrowed exactly as her mother's did when planning torture for the men in their lives. She picked up a blanket and casually threw it over her shoulders.
Jackson eased behind her. He was almost to the speakers. A few more steps and he could smash the source of unmitigated pain. He would be a hero to his family and the Lythikos duchy. A day in his honor would be celebrated each year to mark such an unselfish sacrifice. Plus seeing his sister's face at being bested by him would be an early Christmas gift itself. It would be glorious.
He grinned as he reached out.
"I don't ho, ho, ho think so!" Jules threw the blanket over him and pulled him to the ground. She threw herself on top and began to punch the covered lump.
"Ow! Jules! Get off me!" He struggled to get free from the blanket and his evil sibling.
She grabbed a pillow and whacked him repeatedly in the face when it popped out from under the blanket.
"JULIET! GET OOOOF OFF OW ME!" Jackson bellowed.
She cackled wickedly. She grabbed her phone and took a picture of him and sent it to Emily. She typed out a quick message and turned the song off.
Drake and Olivia looked upstairs. Their ears were still ringing and they were fearful that the sudden silence was a trick of the mind. Had Jackson truly been successful in purging their home of such cheery Christmas music?
Jackson glared at his sister. "Who did you send that too?" He ground out through clinched teeth.
"Emily. I won the bet." She hopped off her brother and offered him a hand up.
He sighed and took it. "What bet?"
Jules smiled. "We searched all weekend for the Christmas song we thought would drive our families crazy and decided to play it on repeat with the volume turned all the way up. Whichever family tried to stop it first would decide the winner. I knew you and Mom and Dad couldn't handle it. Em thought Nicky and her parents would cave and beg for mercy first. Personally, we think the song is awesome."
Juliet's phone buzzed with Emily's response. She smiled as her best friend dramatically demanded they try again with a different song. It seemed her father, Maxwell, ended up not only liking it, but had it blasting throughout the house.
"Nope. I won. Better luck next time." She laughed as Emily responded how lucky Jules was to have her for a best friend. She really was.
Jackson shook his head in exasperation. He grabbed Juliet's IPod and deleted the song. He then unplugged her speakers and carried them toward the door.
"Hey!"
"Yeah, sorry Jules. But a guy will do anything to double his allowance." He winked and left her laughing.
