Xiaolin OC Awareness Week
Day Six: That isn’t Canon, but This is!
Writers: write about a childhood memory of your OC’s, or their hopes and dreams for the future, or a version of your OC that has not yet come to pass.
Serenity. Peace. Things she had once believed she would never know. Now they permeate her mornings. Flow through her, just as the ether does. Wraps around her and holds her close. Just like the energy that she can feel radiating from all living things.
Mia, Xiaolin Dragon of Ether, opens her still unnatural purple eyes. A token from a time when she was of Void. Her breath coming out between her lips to merge with the air. Her morning meditation over, her meditative posture relaxes. Gazing over the valley stretching away from her small hill, she sees rice patties and their early morning occupants, children running along dirt roads, trees and bright flowers, she sees the essence of life, and she smiles.
Leaning back against the peach sapling she had planted here years before. Now thicker of root and branch but still too young to produce fruit. Her senses revel in the pulse of its ether. Maybe a nap would be a good idea. It is nice here and though sleep still holds some terror for Mia it is less so. Before napping can even occur, Mia senses another approaching. Their energy is young and boisterous, and yet she can feel much urgency.
As the child scrambles up the path to her tree Mia rises. Her robes are caught in an errant breeze. Slightly soiled by dirt and mended in places, but still the material is soft and made of fine thread. Wide sleeves are still her preferred choice.
“Lady Mia! Lady Mia! Please come. Papa needs you.” The child pleads, tears in his little eye.
She crouches before him, hushing and soothing. Using her sleeve to wipe the tears from his eyes and the mucus from his nose. Touch gentle and loving.
“Calm yourself little Yun. Tell me what has befallen your papa. Is it his illness again?”
Yun nods and sniffs. “I know you told him to rest but he refused. He’s so stubborn.”
“Yes, yes he is.” She stands and takes the boys hand. “Let us go see if I can persuade Mister Zhian to stay in bed, shall we?”
Yun nods once more, gripping her hand tightly. The two head back down the hill and towards a small village where Mia has made her home. Here she spends her days helping the poor people of this village however she can. On rare occasions other Xiaolin monks are sent to her to learn of her healing arts. She teaches them as best she can.
Though she is a fully fledged dragon she is still young. Some days there is a longing for adventure and others there is only the joy she feels when those under her protection smile. And then there are those days that tell her there is something else she should be doing, some other purpose to her life. Whatever that purpose is will come to her when she is ready. Now Mia, Xiaolin Dragon of Ether, Healer, and Warrior, has people she must protect.
