Inspired by @redfirefox-55, I'm trying something a little different than what I've posted here so far.
The design isn't quite where I want it yet... hopefully I'll have more time to refine him soon. (school started, and it's eating a lot of my free time).

I think it says a lot about how well crafted a character is when they hook your attention and creep into your brain to occupy your thoughts without paying rent when I actively want to know about them but not because I'm simping. Without relying on design or trope-baiting or anything like that, the character isn't getting your attention because you're thirsty or they appeal to your aesthetic or archetype preferences, it has nothing to do with your desire to go abso feral for them carnally--but everything to do with the fact you just want to know about them. Good and bad.
I want to comb their psychology with a fine tooth comb and understand them. See where they're going.
This is about Sol.
He's in my head and won't leave because I just want to know about him, he fascinates me and I DON'T KNOW WHY.

All at once, the asterisk swarm disappears. Except for one or two outliers who teleport away but that's not anything to worry about :) Fell also isn't gone he's just sitting on the roof of the Esc, looking at the view.
...uh, pretty sure i'm supposed ta' have been warped back to the GSC by now? how the hell'd he even get me here anyways...?
Asterisk is now back in his lab. Most of the condiments are back, but all of the ketchup has been replaced with new bottles instead.
welp, that vacation was fun and all, but back to work. never thought i'd say that, heh.
The funky robot is staring at a cake double of itself. It's lcd face is displaying an error message. It's also repeating an error code out loud.
"ERROR 264."
If anyone gets close to it, it sprints through the cake double.
Asterisk has started pouring acid on the mold. He's wearing a gas mask.
this shouldn't be here.
Meanwhile, the mold seems to have messed with the funky robot's pathfinding systems, as it is repeatedly walking into a wall. It's lcd face is displaying a "D:" each time it bumps into the wall.
Asterisk is at his desk, the funky robot in front of him, connected by a wire to his computer.
while you're here, you want me to add a fixture so your hat won't fall off?
"THAT WOULD BE APPRECIATED."
got it. first though, let me get the update sent. already got you backed up...
"...IS THE BACKUP STILL ME?"
i'd say so. you can see out the camera connected to my computer, right? I programmed you so that any backups are the same stream of consciousness, as long as it works you should be the same. it's kinda like a hive mind, i guess. anyways, ready?
"...READY."
Asterisk presses a button, with a window confirming the sending of the update as a success. He moves the backup onto a flash drive and pulls it out, putting it somewhere.
cool. now, you might notice you're a little tired for the next few hours while it installs. past that, everything will be fine. now, hold still for a second while i put this fixture on...
Asterisk takes off the plate on the robot's head, and adds a new one with a part on it, attaching some wires to it.
now, it won't work 'till the update's done, but you can use the new part on that to attach a hat there and keep it there. can even change the hat if you want, leave the other ones in that box over there.
Asterisk points at a small box made of metal, labeled "hat box"
