Hy-Vee for pizza.

Then, to Barley Street for the Kris Lager Band. 

The Matt Cox Band opened the show at the PS Collective. 

Then, Nate invited me to awkwardly sit with him and his friends. Good thing Jalan Crossland was entertaining and helped to completely distract from anything else that was happening.

Funk Trek brought some groovy beats to the Waiting Room.

Before the Kris Lager Band took the stage and closed things down.

I was excited to have these organic gummies from Whole Foods for the ride home! 

Mom and I spent a Sunday afternoon at Breezy Hills listening to Paul Hart and hanging out with a bunch of old folks :P.

Dang told me that him and Tim wanted to hang out with me so they decided to meet me at McKenna's.

Cory also showed up and the boys all seemed to enjoy the Matt Cox Band. It was nice to hang with the boys, although I definitely couldn't be part of the club I quickly discovered :P.

Mom brought home Pizza Hut for dinner!

Then it was off to Slowdown for the KLB where I saw a well-aged woman making out with a gentleman who was probably not of drinking age, the things you see sometimes!

I really splurged after that show and got myself dried cherries, maybe because I didn't have to drive so far :P.

Happy Earth Day 2011! Matt Cox was back!

Bad Country put on a very nice show.

I then wandered around the UNO campus to find a Pow-Wow that was happening and see what it was all about. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before! 

Then, it was back to celebrate the earth with Brad Hoshaw and the Seven Deadlies.

What better way to celebrate the earth than with a donut?

And pizza at the Minden Bowl? Successful Earth Day celebrations all around! The following morning my mom saw me wandering around the park on the news, apparently my long hair, earthy skirt, blanket from the 70s and bug eye shades was what they were looking for to represent the day :P.

There's really only one person I think of when I see trains and train related things :). I was excited to find this at Lauritzen Gardens.

My main reason for going to Lauritzen Gardens was to see the Outside Kaneko exhibit. It was awesome! I was sad I got there with a limited amount of time before it closed but it was free and there's nothing wrong with that :).

From there I went to the New BLK for a show and snacks.

And checked out First Fridays in the Old Market where the Artists Cooperative had a great spread of food, in addition to some nice artwork :D.

The Passageway Gallery had these really good cucumber sandwiches! I also very much enjoy some of the glass and ceramic work in the gallery, definitely some of my favorite in Omaha.

I'm not sure why pizza was necessary after all of that but sometimes I do have glutton tendencies :P.

Hot Shops hosted the Autopilot Art Runway Show. I had the misfortune of running into Joe there and while I did what I could to tell myself I was invisible so as not to have to talk to him, it didn't quite work out for me. He was rude and unkind, as one who gets beyond the initial version he presents so people will like him soon finds out. 

Laura Burhenn played a brief but lovely set after the runway show.

First Fridays at Clayworks brought some tasty snacks.

And even a tasty apple drink!

Then, it was to the Holland Center for Music and a Movie with the Kris Lager Band.

And Jurassic Park as the feature presentation, though I sadly could only watch a small portion.

I find a whole bag of pretzels to be a strange choice for a snack :P.

The following day I set out on my way to Des Moines but not without a stop at Roberts Bakery to get myself, as well as Lexi and Amy some tasty pastries.

Amy and I spent a couple hours chatting about weddings, friends, jobs, etc. The quote of the day was when she was talking about how she saves graduation invitation but not wedding invitations and her reasoning is, "I don't care as much about love." Classic! We again headed to Mars Cafe for lunch and casually, though not much effort was needed to hear it, listened in on an intense conversation about politics and religion. After all that excitement it was time for me to head to 80/35. 

Lexi came from Iowa City and we were able to enjoy Cory Chisel together. He was even better than she had described! "Never Meant to Love You" is such a good song and it thrills me that she got me the Upstairs at United vinyl, which is the only way to get a hard copy of it!

I got a free baby Jimmy John's sandwich!

This is why you don't ask a bunch Iowa kids to share a story in the middle of a show, you get some ridiculous run-on that has no point and makes no sense! Alex looks really unimpressed as he was listening to this outrageous story.

Allison's niece is quite a joy to watch. She is so serious, as clearly shows through in this picture, and she comes up with some really great stories!

I wasn't too thrilled with Jessica Lee Mayfield but when the power went out and it didn't appear it was coming back on soon she sat down and played acoustic, total props for that!

Lexi and I decided we were ready to get some dinner and hit the road. We went in search of her car which was a greater challenge than anticipated. We finally found it and I was getting ready to open the door I realized there was glass under my feet. I then looked up to find that her car window was busted out. She was not happy, to say the least. So much ranting and raving, which was totally understandable and at the same time very entertaining :P. We went to the Diner for dinner.

She wasn't very hungry so the first priority was for us to get malts and then we went with appetizers for filler :P. Luckily, she had really nothing of value in her car so her bags were found a couple stalls down and were returned to her trunk. The lesson learned: Do not leave bags sitting on your seat even though you know that nothing valuable is in them! 

The Filter Kings opened up for Matt Cox's CD release party. This is an impressive move!

I was so happy for the CD release! I had been listening to his new songs at numerous shows and was itching to hear them whenever I wished! The show was excellent and the CD is exactly as I wished for it to be. 

Celebrated with Twizzlers!

Mom, dad and I headed to Pizza King for dinner.

I'd say that salad, bread and hash browns plus pizza was more than necessary :P.

Playing with Fire hosted Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings for a free concert. I didn't think that I would see Sharon any time soon, let alone for free!

Her and the Dap Kings put on one heck of a show! Look at her get down!

Since we were in the area we went to Jones Bros for dessert. We were all pleased with the evening.

At the last minute mom and I decided to go to Stir to see Michelle Branch. She found some tickets on Craigslist and we got them promptly and with ease. 

Michelle was better than I ever expected!

The Goo Goo Dolls followed and sadly they weren't half as good as Michelle but she really blew me away :P.

Johnny's still great and they have some great jams!

I sprinkled some during the show, which was actually refreshing, but after it started pouring. We hopped on the bus back to the Mid-America Center to get the car. With limited options we went to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner.
