Made a funger character before, I'm remaking her. Anyway:
Name: Slavica/Slavitsa (Little Glory), name may be changed but let's see how it goes
Nickname: Songbird
Class: Seamstress
Age: early-mid twenties
Soul: Restless. A moment of stillness is a moment of torment. Standing still for too long doubles the rate of mind-loss. Moving in general sets the mind loss to average. If the character is doing the skill: Knit, mind loss while standing is negated and set to average. Knitting fills up your mind while moving. The soul looks like a combination or endless and chaotic soul, but way more distorted and over the place, as if it wants to run away. Extra dialogue reveals you often struggle to get a healthy amount of sleep because of it.
The soothing sounds of the rail tracks... You are not used to such a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. You can't help but let your mind wander. You reminisce about what has led you to this point in life…
You were born with a defect that slowly chipped away at your hearing. Luckily, your mother was lucky enough to know someone who could restore your hearing, even for a little bit. As a result, the world around you is permanently muffled as if submerged in water. A complete difference compared to the complete silence you heard before you had the surgery. The surgery that left you dependent on hearing devices. You didn’t mind the loss, as it only made your eyesight sharper.
Due to your restless soul, you never fitted in. You were loud, impulsive, not “lady-like” and thus you were ostracized and bullied from your peers and potential suitors. Even by fighting back (or not), you eventually shut yourself in, doing solitary activities such as hand-sewing/knitting, and enjoying mindless walks around the streets of Spalato, accompanied by the butchered songs and prayers to Gods loud enough for Rher himself to hear you. Those were the only times you could clearly hear your own voice, without the cumbersome hearing devices. Whether or not others approved of it, you didn’t care. You hated silence, and you would do anything to break it.
After the Second Great War, a mysterious letter came into your hands, a letter searching for talented seamstresses to help rebuild the war-torn Prehevil. Despite your mother’s concerns, you hastily packed your belongings and took the nearest train to Prehevil, with the promises of coming back soon and returning all the favors she gave to you.
And with the final thought, a final song and a prayer, your mind finally settles down for a nap, or did it get so loud it drowned itself out? Either way, your twitchy limbs settle down as you fall into a deep restful sleep for the first time in years. Everything will go great, and you will finally get the chance to pay back the kindness!
.
You start off with: A hand-sewn blouse, a red ragged skirt and a pair of worn out shoes. By choice, your weapons are either metal knitting needles or your own fists. You also start off with a knitting book about scarves/mittens/dolls of your choice or a sewing kit, and a pair of hearing aids. HA's take up a single accessory slot.
When playing as a different character, aids are hidden among the luggage, and her weapon of choice is always knitting needles, she also has the ability to knit bandages.
Features
Able to understand/do sign language Slavica does along with talking. Signing is presented by cap-locked words, making it look like off-grammar yelling. Unlocks special interactions. Can be taught by her without a soulstone. Mind reading ability tells you she is so focused on doing two things at the same time it renders her, usually loud mind, quiet.
By choosing to fight back, you gain proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. By choosing to stomach the blows, you gain extra body, proficiency in sharp objects, and all physical damage is cut by half. Either way, you lose sanity faster by standing still for too long
Knitting: With knowledge of an appropriate book, some yarn/string and needles, you can craft one of the following items: Scarf (defense (not a complete protection) from beheading), a pair of mittens (defense from limb-loss), a doll (halved mind loss) or bandages (only available when recruited). Takes a while to finish but it negates the rapid mind loss from standing, at least when playing as Slavica. There is an interaction at the bar where she teaches you this skill. and allows you to keep any book she has (including on bandages).
Sewing: You are capable of reinforcing clothing with other scraps of material. Doesn’t work on metal or already reinforced equipment. Needs a sewing kit, clothes of your choice and a piece of cloth or a bandage to reinforce. Reinforced clothes absorb/reduce stabbing damage
Sharpsight: Due to relying on your eyesight for the most of your life, it has improved. Items usually hard to spot (rusty nails, glass) are highlighted with a halo of white. You can also see further in the dark than others. But just like them, your eyes and mind are as equally as gray and susceptible to the dark's cold embrace as them. You are no better than them, or equal.
The world around you is muffled, and anything that may help you hear is either destroyed or a part of some other machine, or lost somewhere among the luggage (There is a single, mostly unscathed, pair of hearing aids hidden in the train in each game. They're a prerequisite to hire Slavica). Without them, she lip-reads and is further apart when talking (at least two-three tiles apart) and often asks other characters to repeat themselves.
.
Moonschorched: Nuisance. “Rher’s nuisance sings to you.”
Its voice is scratched out and its ears are bleeding and deaf. Eyes are bulging but not blind. Its body is snapped and contorted to look up at the sky, and its toothy mouth is broken wide open as if it was screaming during its transformation. The “mouth” spreads to the crotch. Arms are stuck out like in a prayer. There is a pair of metal knitting needles stuck to its back, partially visible during the fight. They mindlessly wander around Prehevil attempting to sing, loudly, but to no avail. Their throat was too damaged to do so.
It doesn’t do anything but scream and wail in an attempt to sing. Only draining your mind with each turn.
.
Ending B: You’ve returned to the ever-silent walls of Spalato, with the aids shoved deep into your pockets.
You are a Champion of Termina! But at what cost? You couldn't bear a sound brushing against your ear without a jolt of panic shooting up your spine. You couldn't bear seeing your mother's look on her face as you lied to her, handing her the jewelry you stole off endless corpses. You may have made her life easier, but was it worth it?
How could you ever hug her again? With those bloodied hands of yours?
You just plastered on a smile in hopes nobody could see the dread nested in your very core. Your speech reduced to a whisper, and you never sang again. You sat so still you could be confused as a corpse, and your sleep has gotten worse. You couldn't bear anything that resembled the cold unfeeling metal of knitting needles, and the smell of copper and steel.
You found some people of your age who were tolerant of your presence, rarely speaking a word other than a question or a compliment. And soon enough, the poor excuse of a bond fizzled out, and you were left alone, once again.
You never took out those hearing aids again, leaving them in the pockets of that ragged, bloody skirt on your bed as you ran away in the night, never to be seen or heard of again.
You may have survived, but the deaf songbird died in that hollow tower.
