Our 2022 art exhibit “Fine Feathers: at play with structure and function” is on display until October 31. There will be an artist reception on July 14th from 3-5. Everyone is invited. This piece, “Barred Owlet” was created by artist Timothy Hoch. Young Barred Owls still have downy feathers on their head even as their adult wing and tail feathers have grown in. #FunFeatherFact… Supposedly Barred Owls have between 9000 and 10,000 feathers; although we are guessing that is an estimate, as we don’t know of anyone who has actually counted all of them. #FunNaturalistFact… Harriet Tubman used owl calls as a form of communication as she helped people escape slavery.
