Hi, I've been following your blog for quite some time... and I was curious to know about the Fe-Se loop?
Oh, god. I am so behind on these asks, guys, I’m so sorry! College is drowning me in work, but I’ll try to be responsive.
Hi, there! Thank you for following me, friend! :)Â
The Fe-Se loop is actually a newer concept to me too, but then when I researched the unhealthier states of ENFJs, what do you know, I’m pretty sure I’ve gone into loops many times before (not grips though, for some reason.)
So the Fe-Se loop is, pretty simply, a state where an unhealthy ENFJ depends on their first and third functions for everything. So there is none of the more introspective, detail-oriented, thoughtfulness that Ni and Ti bring to the stack.
For me, at least, with a loop lead by Fe, this manifests itself as me being even more hypersensitive to the words and actions of other people. I become moody and sad for no reason and retreat into depressive states if I perceive anything a friend says as hurtful to me.
I become unresponsive, self-destructive (stop eating, isolate myself from people,) and might even snap at people irrationally.Â
My Se comes out and I end up acting like a child. Instead of using words to solve my problems (it often becomes too difficult, or I predetermine that my words would be received negatively) I express my anger by pacing around, climbing up on top of tables while gritting my teeth, and basically wanting to wrestle and fight with my friends. (Yeah, I’m 5′2″ so I’m not very intimidating.)
The Fe-Se loop makes an ENFJ look more childish and reckless, They might also become much more unfeeling towards others and will try to hurt the feelings of people who have hurt them.Â
This loop is definitely about shock-factor, self-pity, neediness, and basically an emotional thunderstorm that can’t be stopped.Â
I’ve heard other versions of how ENFJs experience this loop though, so I’d be interested in hearing other perspectives. Hope this helped! :)
Help. I'm an entj currently in the loop. I've physically hurt people. I'm scared of myself. HOW DO I GET OUT OF THIS?!?
It is good that you have identified that your current behavior is not who you believe you are. However, you have to be careful not to blame it on the loop, as that can distract you from getting out of it. There is no single tried and tested way to get out of a function loop, however there are things you can try.Â
First of all, try to identify what caused you to start the loop. If you can solve that problem, getting out of it will be much easier. Behave how you behaved before you entered the loop, even if it isn’t how you want to behave now.Â
You can also try making mind maps relying purely on Ni and Fi, the two functions you are currently ignoring. Work through scenarios that use both of them and test them the best you can.Â
Another thing you can try is creating any sort of scenario and making four columns. Write how each function behaves in the scenario and go into detail. Identify which aspects of each you use while in the loop. Now challenge yourself to use only certain healthy ones.
I hope this helps you, but if you physically hurt someone again I recommend you speak with a professional. You can also see some anger management tactics here, here, and here.Â
