I love your Test Kitchen Au so much. I’ve been a fan of Supercorp for a few years now but I’ve only just found BA. And I didn’t even think of Supercorp in these place but after reading your canons I don’t know how I’ve lived my life without it. So thank you so much! It’s excellent! And I would love to hear what you think about all of them making the perfect pizza and who’s who in your canons.
.I have the fandom to thank for that-- y’all are the ones who turned me on to this channel, and now I can’t stop!
There’s a lot of parts to this, and I’m still getting to know some of the players in the kitchen, but I’ll do my best with a full casting:
Lena as Claire, but in this AU, Lena is more Katie McGrath than Lena Luthor. Very giggly, very insightful, determined to get things right but less easily frustrated. Incredibly foul mouthed when she’s just a little less on camera.
Kara as Brad, but I find his animations/sound effects a little jarring, so I’m going to head canon that Kara’s pop ups are more disney cartoon-ish. And maybe goes into a little more explanation than just straight up how-to. Like, she’ll tell us what a freaking SCOBY is. What’s a SCOBY?!
Alex as the film director. She films every video segment, and has an eagle eye on everything. Good eye for continuity.
Nia as camera operator/Alex’s assistant. Also behind the scenes, but familiar with everyone. Probably works in other areas of the magazine when not filming for the youtube channel.
James as Food Director. Knowledgeable about food, but an active administrative role to expand his business horizons after chef work got a little dull for him. This role initially went to Sam, but when I saw the channel of the food director going up against various celebrities, it actually felt more like James and how we still dabbles in field work despite his executive position.
J’onn as Amiel. I don’t know his presentation style yet, but seeing him as a taster on Gourmet Makes and It’s Alive definitely feels like a casual/playful J’onn presence.
Brainy as Chris. Methodical, precise, biased towards technique over nostalgia. Exquisite tasting ability, brutally honest. Confident.
Sam as an original contributing food editor with a slant towards cooking international dishes at home in a kid friendly way. She sometimes goes in with a health angle, and even gives home chefs ways to adjust certain tastes to appease picky kid palates, while still remaining true to the identity of the dish.
Winn as the test kitchen manager. Knows where everything is, is the final approval (besides Lena) to deface kitchen property, and is a frequent appearance on all video segments. Friendly, personable. Known for making up words to describe various mouth-feels in non-technical ways.
Cat Grant as editor-in-chief of Conde Nast. Rarely seen, but hyper-respected. She and Lena are on a first name basis. Enjoys and approves Lena’s video channel, not only because it relieves Lena’s stress and makes her a better editor, but also because it boosts popularity and overall subscriptions.
Lex Luthor as a big wig on the publishing side, maybe? Or maybe an adjacent competitor in the newsprint field? Something similar to what Lena does, but on a bigger behind-the-scenes scale and not in Lena’s direct chain of command. They are on good terms and he’s not a dick.
Ask me later about a perfect pizza. I have to watch more videos before I can answer that.
