No.82 at Fukiji, Oita, Japan
The temple is said to be built in 12th century, the oldest architecture in Kyushu region, and houses a statue of Amitabha, one of Buddhist deities with a meaning of "the Buddha of Immeasurable Life and Light".
The shape of the building is rather simpler than that of later temples in Japan and its proportion exudes a sense of purity with a touch of modest nobleness, like Pantheon in Roma. The architecture shows that the shape itself has something of a message that is easily felt, but difficult to explain. This is what the power of architecture is, making it religious in this case.
