You ruined my closet for me.
Every single burden is left there, getting clothes from the back corner is too hard to bear.
I imagined so many things, most of them coming true right in front of my eyes. With assuring whispers and hopeful touches, handprints taint my skin.
Every single inch of me was once yours, every empty space in my room was a safe haven for romance that should have lasted.
I hoped for so much, hoped you’d understand why I said no, no, no, so many times, not because I hated you, I could never hate you. I could only hate what the future portrayed, dirty feelings left on the floor.
I knew you’d do this, I just didn’t know you’d leave it all in there, I can no longer wear my favorite sweaters without looking at the metaphorical lipstick marks on the closet wall.
Maybe you’ll be back, and then you can pack your burdens and take them with you next time you break me.
Maybe I’ll leave a part of me in your closet so you can see just how much it hurts to resent such a place.
