I just can't say it's been going well, diabetes-wise.

The day after he was elected, I woke up scared for the people who wouldn't be able to get out of bed.

The trans kids and the queer kids and the people trying to manage their mental health issues. The people who are already trying to stay afloat.

It was hard for me, a cis white woman with a college degree and a job and at this point unreasonably sound mental health, to get out of bed. That's what scared me.

Because fuck this is hard to take.

And as fate would have it my CGM receiver broke two weeks before the election. And I didn't have a way to test my blood sugar for a day. And I breathed deeply and managed and found a new meter at gatwick airport.

And my numbers are fucked and they have been that way for a while and when I woke up with a blurry eye last week I truly freaked out.

because I am GOING TO NEED MY EYES FOR THE FEMINIST REVOLUTION GOD DAMNIT.

So fuck this outcome for physically hurting people. It's not just theoretically painful this is real and embodied and it is already taking its toll. But it also means we have something real to fight against and prepare for and try to keep healthy for.
