I know I’m an absolute coward when it comes to bugs, but silverfish specifically piss me off as much as they scare me.

Any ecological benefit aside, why the shit are silverfish a thing? If you haven’t seen one outside of Minecraft, you’re lucky. 

First off, they look like someone cut two beetles in half and sewed the heads together, which is just unsettling as fuck. 

Second off, these fuckers just.... disintegrate. Like some Infinity War shit.

 If you apply any pressure to them, It’s like they immediately burst into a bug puddle with not even a trace of what the hell it was beforehand. Like most of the time if you look there’s still like a leg or something intact after squishing bugs but nope, not here, just bug puddle that's smeared on your wall. 

This had me thinking how the hell evolution let such an easily obliterated species exist. After a very brief bout of research (I mean very brief cause I nope out at any pictures), I found that not only is this bug just faster than it’s predators, like it’s Sonic of the bug world, but it’s also one of the oldest bug species around today.  So not only does this thing look like a science experiment gone wrong, it’s an Eldritch Speed demon science experiment gone wrong. 

And you wanna know the worst part? They’re nocturnal. You’d think that’s a good thing since don’t come out during the day, which I’m thankful for that. But you know what happens instead? You’ll find them right as you’re about to go to bed. Which for someone like me, who’s more scared of bugs than any adult should be, is actually the most annoying fucking shit in the world. If there is any sort of intelligent design out there, I’d bet they made this piece of shit just to fuck with anyone who’s up late.

Not to mention they’re fairly common, or at least they are where I am.
