So this is your daily reminder that fandom.com sucks, fuck fandom.com
And the Minecraft wiki is most likely moving away from fandom.com! This is a massive win!!!
Remember kids, fuck fandom.com!
Hey time to bitch about fandom.com
Take a look at this paragraph. What is wrong with this paragraph?
Well, if you aren’t familiar with Japanese, it probably looks fine. But as someone who can read katakana, the Japanese text/translation bit is either straight up wrong or just REALLY BADLY FORMATTED.
What do you think スタークラスター translates to? Star cluster or the king’s keyblade? Well, if you look at the romaji next to it, you can read a phonetic form of keyblade, “kīburēdo”, so you can probably figure out that スタークラスター is Japanese for “the king’s keyblade”. Except, you’d be wrong, since that is sutākurasutā, or star cluster, and the romaji in brackets is for Japanese that isn’t anywhere to be found! So the Japanese doesn’t have romaji, and the romaji doesn’t have Japanese, so EVERYONE is unhappy, ESPECIALLY ME.
Why couldn’t they just do (スタークラスター, sutā kurasutā/王様のキーブレード, ō-sama no kīburēdo) instead of the half assed translation they did here?
For the record, fandom does have the romaji in its own “romaji” section earlier on, but the Japanese for king’s keyblade is NOWHERE.
Here’s how the ACTUAL kh wiki does it:
Flawless, no notes. The Japanese and romaji have its own section, when it repeats star cluster it doesn’t say the Japanese again but when it introduces new terms it has Japanese and romaji for each term, perfect.
Fuck fandom.com and try your best to never use it. Clearly the fandom.com wiki was just copying khwiki without realising what it was actually copying so got it wrong.
general psa for people getting into witch hat atelier cause of the anime news:
we have an independent wiki (https://witchhatatelier.telepedia.net) and are trying to move away from the fandom one. the indie one is more up to date and is more actively edited but the fandom one is still more popular cause of search results BUT WE ARE TRYING TO CHANGE THAT
extension you can install that will redirect you to indie wikis: https://getindie.wiki/
pros of using the indie wiki (and other indie wikis in general):
no ads!!!!
can change the theme if you dont like the fandom layout (i personally use vector legacy (2010) (makes it look like wikipedia)
get to say fuck you to big corporation
is more up to date
not constantly being bombarbed with dumbass features. get the information you want without the hassle
cons
literally none
I never got why the small circle next to meteor in final fantasy 7’s logo was meant to be a piece of materia because… it’s the fucking moon???
Like there is a shot in game where meteor is crashing down to the planet and the moon is IN THE EXACT FUCKING POSITION IT IS IN THE LOGO
Like???
Am I going insane?
Is the moon way bigger than in game? Yes, but that’s because in the logo, the moon is very very far away.
Like maybe it’s the moon made to look like a materia or vice versa, but when the wiki says “there is a piece of materia in the corner” that just sounds like bullshit??? Like the logos are meant to be a specific event in a game, in 8 it’s that scene where they’re dancing (I think), in 6 it’s Terra riding that mech thing, in 15 it’s the oracle, in 9 it’s the crystal, I can go on, and with 7 it’s meteor. But… there’s just a materia there??? No there wasn’t??? Like I get a materia summoned meteor. I get that a materia is the only thing that can stop meteor. But does the materia actually go up there to stop it?? Obviously I haven’t beaten it so maybe holy isn’t some power and is literally the white materia going up and stopping meteor somehow, but I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT
Wouldn’t it just make way more sense if it was the moon, just made to look like a materia (to show how important materia is in the game story wise and gameplay wise)??? Like I completely agree it looks like a materia but that’s not what it ACTUALLY IS???
Anyway my confusion comes from the wiki saying “it may be a piece of materia” and of fucking course it’s fandom.com
FUCK FANDOM.COM WHY IS THE FINAL FANTASY WIKI STILL FANDOM.COM I HATE THIS GODFORSAKEN WEBSITE
