Mista is a good example of it, even though they aren't far apart in age- I think the "choice" Bucciarati gives him between 25 years in prison and joining his gang is hardly a choice, but Mista is expected to be grateful for that.

Fugo's for me is less rooted in canon, but Bucciarati continuing the pattern of adults/authority figures in Fugo's life having control over him in the context of his anime backstory is interesting to me. I am also just fond of their dynamic. Fugo joins the earliest and though Bucciarati should've known better, he didn't see Fugo as a child until Abbacchio joins. Who knows what they got up to in that time, or after.

Bucciarati:

is emotionally distant

won't let anyone see him cry

cares for his boys but also does not coddle

is the strong head of household and his word is law

always out on the town meeting people with his wife nowhere in sight

flirty with strangers when his wife is not around

would carry on as normal with an obvious injury that clearly needs treatment rather than seek medical care

supportive but also terrifying

sexy authority figure

trades in his sensible wife for somebody younger and more exciting

Fugo:

knows his place as a proper helpmeet

is not respected

no hobbies or interests or dreams of his own

quietly supports Bucciarati and discreetly feeds him info so as not to embarrass him

keeps track of where the children are

teaches the children and nags/disciplines them to make sure they behave

goes out of his way to bring the children things they forgot instead of being like you fucked up you have to deal with it

arguably an integral ingredient to Bucciarati's success, proudly thinks Bucciarati achieved his rise on his own

Anger and emotions get dismissed as unreasonable

It's not so much Fugo understanding him better than anyone else for me, and more of as Bucciarati learns to lead, be a leader, be a superior, the more shut out Fugo feels.
