my pseudo-wife and i say goodbye to my husband and child as we leave to tour the country as made up  people in a fictional play in front of incredibly believing amount of people. #ChicagoLiveÂ
âmummy, how long will you be gone for now?â
one of the many reasons why eloise prefers to be taken to the airport by herself--miles never could quite grasp the idea of goodbye. he struggled endlessly with accepting that he will have to go from seeing a parent every day to not again for a few weeks. he was a curious child; one who yearned to understand what could not.
âonly for a few days, my love. youâll be flying out to see me next week!â
crouching to his height, she cups his full cheeks into her palms and presses her nose against his. it was theirs--a small action that only they shared that meant more than could be explained. it was an i love you and a i will always protect you and a i belong to you and you belong to me and, most of all, an always.
âthatâs a few days too long mummy!â
he was starting to become upset now, his cheeks falling into a perfected frown as he glances up at his father, seeking an explanation; an argument. instead, harry takes him into his arms and hugs his young son tight to his chest. before this, harry was saying goodbye and eloise was consoling a much younger miles. he knew the motions well enough.Â
âwhy does aunty julie get to go with you and not me!â
approaching them, aristotle and juliet look confused at the mention. ella smiles and tries to play it off thought juliet can tell what was happening. she nods once to ella and moves to miles, kissing him softly on the forehead and whispering something in his ear. in an instant, the young boy grins and nods, raising his hand for a high five.Â
âwhat did you say to him?â
eloise asks later, as they are moving down the escalator and waving goodbye to the boys who stand above them. after their arrival and the fiasco of checking in, miles had been effectively consoled of the idea that his mother would be disappearing for a few days. she couldnât place why and it seemed like everyone knew but her.Â
âi told him that his mummy was so talented that she needed to share her talent with the world. i told him to imagine how much he loved her and then times it by the thousands that love her too, though, much lessâ
she gapes--half embarrassed, half touched by the action. she canât believe juliet would say such a thing, let alone break things down in such a simple way for her son. the princess tries not to let the emotion show but hugs the other anyway. juliet laughs, too.
âwell, that, and the fact that when i see him next i promised him uncle aristotle would feed him as much ice cream as he can bearâ
