𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭  ,  went  down  without  so  much  as  a  burn  .  it  was  a  welcomed  distraction  from  the  bitter  taste  of  her  shattered  marriage.  the  one  thing  about  divorces  no  one  ever  told  her  ,  was  just  how  shitty  ex-husbands  could  be.  one  phone  call  from  him  was  bound  to  ruin  her  day  ,  which  was  why  she  was  now  sitting  in  a  grubby  dive  bar  —  bathed  in  the  sickly-sweat  sweet  scent  of  spilled  ales  kissing  weathered  wooden  tables,  where  she  found  an  unusual  sense  comfort  .  it  might  have  been  the  tequila  —  that  deceptive  liquid  courage  —  but  she  could  feel  a  persistent  stare  heating  her  shoulder.  it  was  him.  he  had  a  baby  face  she  could  never  forget  .  "  hey  —  you're  in  the  really  crappy  band  that  played  here  the  other  night  .  .  .  right  ?  "  his  voice  was  the  kind    that  cassette  players  would  have  chewed  up,  yet  she  remembered  it  distinctively  .
