     SHE’S  BEEN  LOOKING  FOR  ANY  OF  THE  BAND  MEMBERS  for  the  better  part  of  half  an  hour,  but  maybe  max  has  been  scouting  for  ethan  in  particular.  not  that  she’s  playing  favorites,  but  ethan  and  her  have  always  leveled  on  pretty  much  everything  and  she  knows  how  he  must  be  feeling  right  now  simply  because  she  knows  how  she’d  be  feeling.

– “SEE, I BET YOU THOUGHT YOU DIDN’T HAVE ONE,” blair says when ethan opens the door to his apartment, shoddily wrapped gift box in hand. she was messaging everyone trying to figure out where the fuck he lived, so who blair’s got isn’t much of a secret to anyone else at this point. still, she’s put love into the mixtapes she’s made for him, and she stole the guitar strings from her brother’s room herself. and the pokemon cards ? well, she didn’t realize there was a difference between those and that magic thing he asked for, but she TRIED. this is actually the most she’s ever done for the secret snowflake thing, and . . .

god, don’t ask her to explain it, but maybe the importance of the tradition this year got to her a little. notoriously, in the years she worked at high volume as a kid, no one ever wanted blair to get them because she’d always flake out. she hasn’t this year. she’s standing on ethan’s fucking porch after tracking him down. 

“What do ya mean we have anotha sister!?” Ethan yelled at the family attorney, clearly distraught about the hidden truth. Eliza shook her head while resting her hand on her twin’s arm to calm him down, her perfect lips in a permanent frown. “Who is she, Jebediah?” She asked the older man, a friend of her father’s. “Now, why do ya ask her ya self? ‘Member, ya two, she is as confused as you both. An’ boy, ya bettah bite that tongue of yours an’ treat the young Miss with utmost respect like ya momma taught ya. I’ll go get her now...”

The twins silently exchanged looks when the family attorney exited the room, leaving the two in their thoughts and silently voicing their concerns and trying to sum up any kid of answers. “Papa would never be unfaithful to Mama...” Eliza whispered her reassurance to Ethan.

     THE  BETTER  PART  OF  THE  EVENING  is  slowly  approaching  its  end  and  maxine’s  got  half  a  mind  to  leave.  it  would  be  reasonable,  and  yet  that  part  of  her  has  seemingly  left  her  tonight,  leaving  her  to  push  through  the  dance  crowd  in  search  of  company.  what  she  soon  finds  is  the  unwanted  kind,  when  upon  noticing  marty  far  away  she’s  distracted  and  someone  has  the  audacity  (  must  be  a  man,  no  question  there  )  to  pinch  her  ass.  max,  far  from  sober,  manages  to  spin  around  without  a)  vomiting  and  b)  falling,  and  then  without  thinking,  max  raises  her  fist  and  drives  it  into  the  nearest  male’s  cheek.

     the  alcohol,  evidently,  is  making  her  rather  trigger  happy.  god,  her  hand  fucking  hurts.
