I know you just want to see me without any clothes but trust me I am not as handsome as Harrison Ford. So I would fuck Mary. She’s confident and probably knows what she’s doing in bed. Marry Hugo because duh he’s the obvious choice and kiss Archer because I don’t know much about that guy so quick and easy done. 

the  lab  always  smelled  like  chemicals  and  something  faintly  burnt  —  like  ambition  left  too  long  over  open  flame.  cassius  didn’t  mind.  it  meant  archer  was  working,  and  more  importantly,  not  wasting  his  time. he  stepped  inside  without  a  word.  no  knock.  no  heads-up.  just  the  low  creak  of  italian  leather  on  linoleum  and  that  shift  in  the  air  that  said  something  heavier  just  walked  in.  cassius  didn’t  announce  himself  —  he  never  needed  to.

“everyone’s  cryin’  about  a  nurse,”  he  said,  voice  flat,  flicking  the  stub  of  his  cigarette  into  the  sink  like  an  afterthought.  his  annoyance  wasn’t  subtle  —  never  was,  when  it  came  to  distraction.  “best  time  to  get  to  work  while  cops  and  gangs  are  distracted.   real  work.”

he  moved  slow,  deliberate,  circling  the  workbench  where  archer’s  notes  lay  scattered  —  half-legible  formulas,  raw  ideas.  a  mess  to  anyone  else.  to  cassius,  it  was  promise. the  idea  had  come  to  him  mid-fight.  somewhere  in  a  basement  two  blocks  off  bay  ridge,  under  blood-slick  lights  and  the  roar  of  half-drunk  degenerates.  his  fist  had  found  jaw  —  clean  hit,  all  muscle  and  memory.  he  wasn’t  don.  wasn’t  kingsley.  just  cassius  —  stripped  down,  skin  humming  with  sweat  and  violence  and  clarity.  that’s  when  it  struck  him.  not  the  punch  —  the  plan.

he  tapped  the  notebook  once,  then  flipped  it  open.

“i  want  something  new,”  he  said,  calm  as  anything,  though  his  eyes  never  wavered.  “not  that  same  stim  trash  or  party  dust  that’s  been  passed  around  since  ‘22.  i  want  exclusive.  addictive.  lucrative. you  up  for  it,  archie?  ”
