Since my headcanon is that Wukong has abandonment issues and bad father figures, and him now being a maternal figure and having another being completely dependent on him is a new emotion of affection for him 🤒.

YEEESS !!! This monkey definitely has abandonment issues and very mid father figure.
On top of that, he was in a very bad mental state when Yuebei Xing was born as this was just after he'd been fired by Tripitaka so his abandonment problems were at their worst. It was a lot of emotions for him.
