!!! i'm so sorry it made you cry but im glad it made sense! i got prescribed some oxy after a surgery when i was a teenager, and i remember the reaction to that being so visceral and alienating. and then i kind of gradually discovered that some of my cousins were either in active addiction or in treatment (nobody would say it outright, i had to piece it together myself), and i remember thinking: "i know and love these people, and this is just something they're struggling with. the treatment isn't different than my grandma's chemo or my dad's physical therapy really, so why is everybody so upset about it?" and i'll be honest i still don't really understand. you just get taken advantage of so much as a pain management patient, and to be in that position in the opioid belt just compounds the misery. i really hope we can get some lasting changes made to the healthcare infrastructure system there - i work in healthcare for a hospital system and the spectre of the opioid epidemic still hangs really heavy over a lot of the stuff we do; im not even clinical personnel but it's still palpable. anyway this is way more of an answer than you bargained for but we out here 😎 i hope you're doing better and i hope you have the support system you deserve now!! peace and love and effective painkillers on planet earth 🤝🌎💊
