Pale fingers twirl a honeyed lock before tucking it behind her ear. "I'm right here, babes. It was just a shitty dream, I promise."

All it took was one ring of her phone and some frantic words, and Kenzi was in her car and halfway across town. She's never been so thankful for her skills of sneaking into places, the Buckley's probably not too keen to have their daughter corrupted by her dark and mysterious ways -- as if. But now she's sitting criss cross on Robin's bed, a situation they've practically perfected at this point, trying to calm her best friend down.

 it's  obvious  the  brunette  is  annoyed  ,  brows  furrowed  and  manicure  drumming  on  the  steering  wheel  as  robin  gets  in  the  car  .  nancy  is  uncharacteristically  disheveled  ,  and  appearances  in  public  are  something  she's  always  taken  seriously  .  hair  is  frizzy  and  nearly  hiding  her  blue  eyes  ,  lipstick  on  her  teeth  ,  and  shirt  INSIDE  OUT  .  “  our  power  was  out  and  all  i  had  was  a  candle  to  get  ready  ,  guess  it  wasn't  enough  light  .  ”  she  sighs  heavily  ,  rubbing  at  her  teeth  with  embarrassment  .  “  you  don't  mind  if  i  fix  my  shirt  ,  do  you  ?  ”  arms  are  slipped  out  of  her  blouse  ,  and  she  turns  it  around  ,  bra  peeking  out  from  the  top  .

guilt  isn't  something  new  to  nancy  ,  and  neither  is  lying  ,  keeping  things  under  wraps  .  and  most  of  the  time  ,  she  tells  herself  it's  okay  if  it's  for  a  good  reason  .  now  is  one  of  those  times  ,  at  least  in  her  head  .  she's  protecting  ROBIN  ,  letting  her  still  have  the  image  of  her  parents'  happy  marriage  ,  dad  .  she  doesn't  know  about  the  call  that  came  in  to  the  station  a  few  days  ago  ,  complaining  about  a  PUBLIC  DOMESTIC  DISPUTE  .  nancy  had  answered  the  phone  that  day  ,  and  gone  with  hop  where  all  the  details  were  shared  .  robin's  father  has  been  seeing  someone  else  on  his  out  of  town  trips  ,  for  quite  a  while  now  . 

it  was  wild  to  nance  how  she  could  know  such  personal  details  about  people  she's  never  met  before  (  and  barely  recognized  til  they  gave  their  names  )  ,  when  their  own  CHILD  didn't  know  any  of  this  .  at  least  ,  nance  doesn't  think  she  does  .  if  she  does  ,  she  has  one  hell  of  a  poker  face  ,  UNLIKE  NANCE  . 

robin's  going  on  about  statistics  ,  certain  that  nancy  is  upset  with  her  ,  but  she  couldn't  be  more  WRONG  .  “  i  took  a  call  the  other  day  ,  and  it  was  a  really  ugly  one  .  ”  the  best  lies  have  some  truth  to  them  .  “  married  couple  ,  an  affair  ,  usual  bullshit  .  ”  she  winces  even  as  she  says  it  .  “  do  you  think  everyone  who  gets  married  ends  up  miserable  ?  ”
