One of my favorite past times is finding $0.00 books on Amazon and reading them. I'm currently reading a contemporary gay romance called 'Save the Date' by Annabeth Albert and Wendy Qualls.
I would not call these books literary masterpieces. But I read them for their entertainment value. I enjoy my cozy mysteries and light-hearted erotica, and I think we should embrace novels and novellas like these more often.
I used to believe that a book is valuable if it has a moral teaching or has a grandiose overarching plot, but I realized that not every book has to be high-brow and classical to be enjoyable. Intellectual literature has its time and place. But for the sake of my mental health and my tired body from the rat race of my life, I would happily indulge in a cheap but sweet romance with a happy ending.
