I grew up in Mississippi knowing one thing for sure:

Spaghetti and Fried Fish is a top-tier classic combo in Black homes. It wasn’t until I saw it go viral—and saw the culture shock from people in other regions—that I realized how unique our foundation really is.

In Sallie’s Garden, we don’t hide the most gritty parts of our human experience to fit a luxurious shape. We refine them. This is one of the most meals that represents the lineage I’m taking ownership of as I step into 27 this month.
