Was thinking about fret/rindo/Shoka this morningā¦. Cuz I really like them as a polyam trio but I havenāt actually given a lot of thought to how they wind up together as a triadā¦.
Liking the idea that Fret has had a low key crush on Rindo for a while. Heād never really planned on acting on it, felt it was small enough that it would eventually go away, and if not then it was satisfied just by being friends with Rindo- he knew Rindo was a deeply indecisive person and kind of feared that if he were to ever ask Rindo out, Rindo would have some sort of spiral both about his sexuality and whether he wanted their relationship to āchangeā, so Fret decided ultimately it was better not to pursue it.
But then the Game happened, and he and Rindo got closer as friends and formed an even stronger bond, and seeing Rindo grow as a person so muchā¦ gah. Fuck. Those feelings just got a lot harder to ignore.
But Fret isnāt blind. He sees the way Shoka and Rindo interact, he can practically smell the chemistry. And yeah heās got a little crush on Shoka too, sheās cute and sheās cool and sheās just a really awesome and interesting personā¦ but like, obviously Rindo and her have a thing for each other, and he was fine to back down and let them have that. Heās not the kind of person to risk a friendship over a crush.
Itās tough though. Seeing two people he likes fumble around starting a relationship with each other, feeling simultaneously like a third wheel and a matchmaker- trying to set up situations where they can be alone together in hopes that maybe theyāll finally confess their feelingsā¦
Nagi can tell something is up of course, and eventually she corners Fret and pushes him to be honest about whatās bothering him, and he confesses that heās been hung up on his feelings and is struggling to get over these crushes. He doesnāt want to make things complicated for them, and he doesnāt want to jeopardize his friendship with either of them by confessing to either one of them- and, thereās the fact that, if he were to confessā¦ which one does he confess to? He would have to chooseā¦ right?
I like the idea of Fret and Shoka having a heart to heart one day, with Shoka having noticed Fretās behavior as well and asking why heās been acting so weird around them, and Fret admitting that heās got a crush on Rindo. That heās got it pretty bad. But he knows that Rindo and Shoka like each other, and he doesnāt want to get in the way of that. Shoka is, of course, embarrassed and flustered that the romantic tension between them is so obviousā¦ but also feels bad that Fret is trying to force himself to get over his crush. Fret, of course, conveniently leaves out the fact that heās also been crushing on herā¦
God actually it would be funny if Rindo talks to Fret too and Fret says he has a crush on Shoka, and so both Shoka and Rindo start trying to get the other alone with Fret because theyāre ALSO trying to self sacrifice for the sake of their friendsā¦ all three of them just desperately trying to set each other up with the other, before finally Fret realizes whatās going on and tells them he has a crush on both of them and just didnāt want to get in the way.
And the three of them just stand there for a second like. Wait a minute. If we all like each other. Who is stopping us from likeā¦. All just dating. At the same time. And fret is like yo we can do that?? Like for real?
Bonus points if while all this is going on the three are absolutely oblivious to the polyamorous mess Neku has going on and it isnāt until after theyāve sorted their feelings and gotten together that Neku is like oh you could have just asked me about his stuff and theyāre all like š¤Æ
