My thin south Florida blood doesn’t understand
Now, I don’t know about you all, but I grew up in a place where summer pretty much equaled heat stroke. You would step outside and a nice disgusting blanket of humidity would wrap around you and you instantly start sweating, plus there was no hope for your hair - so just don’t think about it.
I’m use to that being my summer. Use to the fact that if you walk outside barefoot the game of ‘the floor is lava’ becomes all to real as you try to hop on tippy-toe to a surface that won’t give your feet first degree burns. Use to the UV-ray index reading at ‘Extreme,’ not high, oh no extreme, so try not to let the sun see you for too long because skin cancer is a real thing. I’m use to the extreme south Florida summers.
What I’m not use to is having to wear pants to bed because its cold...like, I don’t even do that in the winter. I”m not use to wearing socks/slippers around the house...again, I don’t even do that in the winter. I am no wearing jackets with long sleeve tops when I go out and am still freezing, while everyone else is commenting on what great weather they are having. Yes, back home it’s near the heat level of Satan’s armpit, but damn it’s summer!
I think it might be time to accept that I will never be warm again...
