#freefalling

Hi everyone! It's my own @galladrabbles prompt and I picked it way before I decided to wrap my series up... But it also fits, and I'm not above a little self-interested prompting.

So here is the very last installment of Rotating (Around You). 🥲

They leave the station, still with that hole under repair. They say goodbye to the other Gallaghers, and their friends in security and maintenance. 

They leave rotational gravity for zero gee, thrusters gently pushing them away from dock. Soon the main engines will take over, heading them out towards the edge of the Solar System. 

As Mickey sits in the copilot's chair, watching the station recede, he can't help but think he'll still be rotating. Orbiting around Ian, his very own blazing sun. Obeying his law of gravity.

Always trying to resist. Never knowing if he really even wants to.

I hope you have enjoyed this ride with me. Thank you for all the encouragement along the way 🥰💜. The space boys are very special to me... This is by no means the end of their story.

This one is an epilogue to Freefalling (for you)... So still in my Gravitational Pull universe, but a different part of the timeline. This is what might have happened if I'd wanted to end the fic on a more schmaltzy note 😆. I wasn't sure whether to post it but I started to overthink so I'm gonna, just to stop myself spending the whole weekend rewriting it.

When Ian starts the countdown, Mickey makes his way up to the cockpit and straps himself into the copilot chair.

Ian grins at him, reaching a hand across the centre console to squeeze Mickey's. 

Mickey doesn't need to be here. The burn starts gently. He'd be fine so long as he wasn't swimming in the centre of the cargo bay.

But he's wasted too much time already. So he finally accepts Ian's invitation to watch the stars with him.

Another excellent prompt from @wasmickeyadopted for this week's @galladrabbles. And another one that I found challenging to fit into my SF AU series, but here goes...

They've spent nearly a year alone together on the Fiona Gallagher. Worked together. Lived together. Shared meals, shared space, even shared clothes one time when the recycler chewed up Mickey's spare flight suit. 

But Mickey's never felt so exposed as he does while Ian watches him override the locks on the last safe door between them and the damaged section. Eyes on him, that soft scrutiny Ian has. That fucking trust. Like Mickey--one-time fucked for life Mickey Milkovich--will be able to waltz in and solve everything.
